The Franchise is still going strong. Unless the toys dont sell anymore or the ratings dont get unbelievably low neither sentai nor rider will go away anytime soon.

This subject has been settled numerous times.
There is no indication that a new Metal Heroes series of any kind will be made at all.
One off movies are it.

No, Metal Heroes as a show is dead. Toei tried seeing if there was any interest with the Gavan movie and that tanked. I'm honestly not even sure why the Shaider and Sharivan direct to dvd movies are happening.

Maybe the Guys behind those movies made such a great pitch that toei couldnt pass it up? :lol

Spielvan was a tear-jerker.
I was six or seven when I first saw some eps on vhs.
Specifically seeing what happened to his family got me misty-eyed as a kid.

Trivia: Spielvan's father Ben was played by Mizuki Ichiro.

Spielvan is one my favorite metal heroes.

Well because the Space Sheriffs and other galactic officer type guys shared their piece of the universe a bit more. They work for similar organizations and are all based primarily in space. Gavan, Sharivan, & Shaider literally share continuity but to a lesser extent Juspion & Spielban also exist in that sphere. So in an expanded sense it's logical for some one off characters to cross paths at some point or another.

The Metal Heroes which proceeded from there on are each much more one off things. Aside from the 2 B-Fighter shows where Kabuto is a direct continuation. Though Winspector, Solbrain, Exceedraft, & Janperson are all collectively known as the Rescue Police Series and share common elements as well. There's still much less shared continuity.

Are Metal Heroes really that unpopular?

I was kinda hoping to see Sharivan: Next Generation (even as a Raw), but I haven't seen anything yet. Taisen Z, as a raw, was a relatively quick release on tokuzilla.

Depends where you ask : I know Juspion is very popular in Brasil, & most of the early Metal Hero shows aired in Europe b4 the "power rangers plague".
The 3 Space Sherifs & Winspector are still very appreciated here in France. We even had VHS releases on some Spielvan, Jiraiya & Metalder episodes.

Gavan's combat suit is actually a mass production suit (Silver Suit, or Type Turbo Protector) for other space police.
In original side story for Space Sheriff Aran (written by Space Sheriff's main writer Uehara Shouzo) the same type of suit is being used by Aran.
Also in Space Sheriff Gavan The Novel (written by Kobayashi Yuuji) it has been mentioned as well.
In comic Space Sheriff Gavan Black Hero (also written by Kobayashi Yuuji) the enemies are using the Silver Suit to commit crimes and to frame Retsu.
Silver Suit is lower spec than the other known suits, but has a booster function to increase user's abilities. Retsu was known to have overspec physical stats and together with the Silver Suit they actually made miracles. Gavan is known as the legendary Space Sheriff because of that.

Gavan (type G) is known to be the next generation combat suit being made after the legendary Space Sheriff. Its overall spec is above the old Silver Suit (and probably above the other 2 known suits),　but it doesn't come with the booster function like the old suit does.
That is all the functions are limited by its default settings even if the user is an overspec sheriff like Retsu (mentioned in short novel Space Sheriff Gavan type G The Beginning on Hobby Japan).
Type G could also means type "Geki", foreshadowing the new generation silver suit having different types for different sheriffs.

Shaider's combat suit (Type Blue Metallic Protector) is on par with type SMP. It is a new suit that comes with supporting computers installed on the limbs for the newbie(s?). A suit not for the pros.

Annie's Super Mode is being mentioned in the novel "Female Space Sheriff Annie's Adventure" written by Uehara Shouzo, which comes with the printed materials inside the Space Sheriff Trilogy Box. The stone from her home Planet Mount in her earring gives her this unique combat suit (also yellow in color).
Its beam gun can transform into laser blade, and also into a marine scooter.
The suit also has a hyper-mode, but it is normally sealed.
She used the combat suit in the episode in Egypt when dealing with Priest Poe, as mentioned in the special episode with the 3 space sheriffs meet up.

Dark Gray combat suit appeared in Shaider episode 14 is a really old suit being used 20 years before Shaider's time. The design looks like a mesh of the TP and BMP suits. No one knows if that is what the silver suit based on.

Julia's combat suit (from Space Sheriff Gavan The Novel) is a combat suit made of mineral Regium from Planet Arm. The first female sheriff that has a combat suit on media (there are others but nobody talks about them). Regium used by male from Planet Arm will give ultimate power. Julia cannot get the power directly, so she uses the mineral to power her unique combat suit. Julia is a student of Retsu.

Vario Zector, or Super Conductive Combat Suit from PS2 game Space Sheriff Spirits. A dangerous suit that the Galaxy Union has to seal it away for good. Also the prototype of the Bootleg series.

Black Bootleg (from Space Sheriff Gavan Black Hero) is a prototype combat suit made by Commander Grant of the Galaxy Police. It has the looks of both Vario Zector and Gavan Bootleg.
There are a total of 10 suits, and some are being sold in the black market.
Users are Minerva (MC of the story, a regular space police) and Isis. Commander Grant gets the Black Bootleg Alpha, which transforms into Black Giga Bootleg later.

Retsu was seeking for his successor before Gavan got into the vs movie. His first choice was the leader of a 6-man pirate band according to the novel.

I like that there's some canonical reason that Estevan looks like Gavan Bootleg.

I didn't have much interest in Sharivan or space sheriffs in general, but out of boredom decided to check this out and was pleasantly surprised. Predictable? Mostly, yeah, sure, but still a lot of fun. Hope we see more outside of the specials; I think I'd like to invest some more time with these characters.

Shaider Next Generation is HILARIOUS. Iwanaga certainly makes the film enjoyable. WATCH IT! I'M SERIOUS!

Sharivan and Juspion are better than a lot of Super Sentais e Kamen Rider Series.

The opening song is personally my favorite out of the three rescue metal heroes. Winspector and Solbrain's OPs are alright too but that "EEEEEEEEEEXXXXXIIIIIIIDDDDDDRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAFFFFTTTTTT" is too catchy. In retrospect when they do their turbo run I cannot help but laugh for some reason. It could have been better if they did what Timeranger did with the low fps shots which is supposed to simulate high speed movement.

This is great for anyone who doesn't have access to the raw Exceedraft torrents. While not my favorite of the Rescue series it's certainly fun. I always preferred Winspector but Exceedraft is still a classic.

What made Winspector awesome for me was the 3DS-colored Walter and the pikachu-colored Bichael. Waitaminute, does that mean Fire was a homage to...

I hope that after the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers reboot movie that Saban will make a movie of The V R Troopers, The Beetleborgs and give them both a couple of sequels; maybe he could even create a crossover movie with all three teams.

Untill The Metal Heroes make their long awaited big comeback, My hopes of a series like Toei Iron-Man and Toei Blue Beetle ( Jamie Rayes ) ( featuring his fellow Beetle Force members The Martian Green Beetle and the Sarah Butters Red Beetle ) will remain as a fantasy and nothing more; in fact, Toei probably wouldn't make anything like those two shows anyway. Oh well, at least they had a good run.
