It already has far more personality than GO-Buster did in 50 episodes.

I actually really enjoyed Gobusters for doing something different. I liked many of the concepts in Gobusters and this (Kyoryuger) seems just to out there even by sentai standards. IMHO the henshin is just stupid. Ill be shocked if they stick with it all the way through or if they shorten it.

As far as personality it may have more but I'm not so sure it's good personality.

So you like the more serious sentai? This one (Kyoryuger) was advertised and aimed more towards kids. Thats why the announcer sounds crazy and the henshin and fights are very out there.You have to look at different sentai series the way they were meant to be seen,and Kyoryuger is meant to be seen as a light-hearted,fun,out there sentai.

Yeah I get that it's light hearted but its not for me and I haven't watched much Kamen Rider since the end of OOO. I didn't care for Fourze and Wizard seems bland to me. Guess ill need to find some new anime to watch until something more interesting to me comes out.

Episode 01 view so its already feels good to have a sentai Dynamics at least a first episode, I'm not pissed off a single minute, even if it is a reboot of Gaoranger. It begins with a scene of strong action against the soldiers then happen Torin gabrevolver which gives the generic dynamic is pleasant and funny. by For other kyoryuger it has already been chosen by the stage for action it was good it's fun to see the red mech work with zuidenchi, the bad guys are funny I like more have all the appearance of something. the ending is funny with dancing dino: p Anyway a good episode in enssemble I expected the episode 02

For those who have not noticed, the hero will have a coating on one arm when he use their respective weapons as shown in this image from the opening.

Meh, it has energy, which is something Go-Busters lacked on massive levels.

And I have no idea how you can say Wizard is bland. It isn't as good as W (or Fourze), but it is sure as hell better than OOO.

I haven't properly caught the raw yet, but the bits I've seen suggest this series is going to be really high-octane. I just hope it lasts more than just the pilot.

And I have no idea how you can say that. The opening 5 minutes of OOO alone are better than anything Wizard has put out so far.

Wizard, while unique and nifty, hasn't caught my attention in the least. I saw the first ep and was... meh. I love the suits though. It's usually the way it is, with me anyway: love the series, hate the suit, vice versa, rinse, repeat. OOO was the exception. Loved the series, loved the suits.

I have to agree. Of the last 5 years of riders OOO is easily the best series. I think most people will argue W, but OOO was excellent and very fun.

Don't get me wrong, OOO was a great show, but it was inferior to W, and then out shined by Fourze. The problem is OOO had average episodes in the teens. The show started out great, but by episode 11, I wanted something more out of it, and then we get this annoying doctor dude that lasted the entire series. I hated the professor, I hated his doll because it was just that, a doll. It was a goofy gimmick that did not fit the tone of the show when nothing came out of it. Plus, Mezool and Uva became nothing more than useless tools towards the end of the show when half of the show seemed to be building Uva up to be the main villain.

Sorry, but I can only back OOO against Wizard :p As a series I much prefer W :lol

I'm pretty amused by how we all taking people in colorful spandex suits fighting people in rubber monster suits so seriously. I mean, yea, I love a good story with great characters and plot, but in the long run, it's something that you can't take like it's a serious business. I want to have fun, and I want to see people beat up monsters in an over-the-top fashion. That's what draws me to shows like PR, SS, and KR so much. Because they're so over-the-top, that you can't help but be pumped.

And honestly, I like all the shows I've seen so far. Each one has its own uniqueness, even if it's using an old theme, like dinosaurs. And honestly, Kyoryuger has a LOT of potential to be amazingly awesome and extraordinarily hilarious. I was PUMPED UP when I saw the first fight scene, and I love how they dance when they transform. That's VERY different from past shows where they just stood still or ran while transforming. I'm excited for the next episode, because it looks like it'll be just as awesome.

I don't see anyone being "serious" either. It's perfectly acceptable for people to compare one series to another, even if the genre is the same. There are things that people will take from a show, and carry it over because it had some impact on them. Good, bad. Doesn't matter, that impact will be there.

Stories will change, even the recipe dynamic will change (Pleather for Go-Busters, no belts for Gekiranger) that people point out and take with them. Some people don't care about those things, but Sentai, Riders and Rangers will always have the same basic formula: don suits and beat up rubber monsters. But there's a reason why this has existed over 35 years, and it's not that basic formula as to why. It has to continue to keep that basic recipe while adding different flavors to it, via themes, storylines, even barebones things like dynamic openings and real time henshins. Sometimes, it works. Sometimes, it doesn't. But the idea is to try to get as many people as to enjoy the series, based on individual tastes.

But see, here's the draw for me. You suggest we should have fun and just let our minds go, and that's perfectly fine... but then you say Dinosaurs it's an old theme. What defines old though? That it's been done before? Because Abaranger aired a decade ago. That's enough time for at least two generations of new sentai watchers to come in, just in the target demograph alone. So we have fun, but dinos are "old", yet it's a great cushion when a season doesn't do well. Kids love dinos. It's timeless.

Also, recall that it's perfectly fine to have an opinion and to discuss it. I think the mecha look ridiculous, the dancing is... while fun, not something I'd do before I was charged with saving the world. Yeah, it's for kids and I get that. But regardless, I'm still having fun, even while discussing what I'm not exactly a fan of on a forum. After all, if everyone had the same idea and opinions, what's the point of having a forum? :D

About to start watchin' the sub. Looking forward to it. But I swear if I get hooked onto Super Sentai because of this place.....

Finally watched it.
I really have no thoughts on it. It was a pilot, and everything had to be thrown in your face. King is alright, and I kind of like Blue's character, but that aside, eh. It was decent. There wasn't much to love about it, and yeah, Gabutyra looks stupid in movement, too. Let's hope Kyoryujin doesn't.

Black and Green didn't get much screen time so I'm indifferent to them. But I already love Kings attitude, he really reminds me a lot of Ban with the way he takes charge. And Blue is delightfully goofy, Pink isn't too shabby herself. The villains seem to be quite interesting this go around too, lots of energy there. And now that I have some dialogue with Torin he doesn't nearly as evil as his appearance made me think :lol

All in all that was a great first showing. I can already see that this show has grabbed me. I liked Go-Busters quite a bit but it's first episode never grabbed me, I was never pulled in the same way that I was here. This show has me hook, line, and sinker.

Honestly, anyone complaining about the designs of the robots and suits seem serious to me. I mean, it's meant for kids. Always been, always will. I've seen a lot of comments about Kyoryuger in other places that it's just head-scratchingly strange on how serious people have taken a kid's show. And yea, it's great to see new ideas and such, but it's annoying when I see people compare it to past series and be angry about how it's not "good", especially when it didn't even premiere until recently. I just hope that all the irrational dislike I've seen dies down.


I honestly thought of "old" as "it's been done before". I've never thought of anything as "timeless", more like "dry periods of interest". And I can respect a person's opinion, as long as it's written with proper grammar, and doesn't resort to calling people names.

It just annoys me whenever I see people complain about a kid's show, no matter what it is. Yea, I'll agree with some points, but honestly, in the long run, I can't change anything, since I'm not the target audience. The only time I'll really complain, is when they're not treating the audience intelligently.

While the series is for a younger audience, I want to point you in the direction of Mobile Suit Gundam. A series that was written for a mature audience but garnered a large audience of all ages, primarily because of interest in the robots and designs.

Writing and story determines the age range, but design is different. The design of the suits and the mecha is something that anyone can get into, regardless of age.

Expressing distaste towards how the series's aesthetic isn't taking it too seriously. Design is something that has to appeal to the larger audience, since you can only really draw outside viewers in on visual cues, and, believe it or not, Toei wants these shows to succeed with more than just the "Boys, age 6-13" market.

I get this feeling that KyoryuRed's dad is either gonna turn out to be Torin or the main villain cause he just "vanished" when he was a kid.

Eh, it was an okay first outing. The characters seem interesting, but the villains were just bleh. I'm not appalled, but I'm not impressed.

Just started it. I think I'll just post my thoughts here as I watch it.

- Wow, Europe sure looks like a location in Japan that was used in Garo Makai Senki.

- America. "Two Away Zone." Oh, Japan...

- This year's grunts are some paisley-ass mother fuckers.

- Another animal dude mentor? Oh well, at least this one has real hands.

- Man, Daigo is freaking crazy. Already displaying more energy than Hiromu did in an entire season. I approve.

- She's just walked by, but I already hate the pink think with the hug stripey hearts on her back.

- Oh lord, these villains are going to suck, aren't they? :(

- Dude, she's fifteen. Keep it in your pants.

- Their base looks like the Animarium's basement.

- Okay, the monster designs? Awesome.

Okay, so overall I liked it. The cast has way more personality than the Go-Busters and the fight scenes are cool. I really like the monster designs, too, although I'm not really digging the Voltasaurs. Definitely looking forward to more.

Eh, still. People taking the whole idea of people fighting in colorful spandex seriously seems more silly than anything. Yes, aesthetic is important to draw in viewers, but complaining about it is just stupid. Expressing distaste and outright complaining are two different things to me, since I consider expressing distaste to be explaining WHY you don't like it maturely, while outright complaining is just complaining without giving real reasons.

Zyuranger was "also for kids" and their mecha was great. So was Abaranger, and their mecha was better than this. So, and no offense here, but that logic is out the window. They look like Playschool Dinosaurs. There's five dinos, and three molds, two of them repeated. Zyu and Aba didn't do that either, but it's all for kids.

I think you're confusing an opinion and discussion with angry. I'm not angry about it. It's not going to make me watch the show if it keeps my interest. I said in a previous thread about Riders that usually, I like the suit or the story, but generally not both. OOO was the first to do both for me. As much as I love Decade, that suit is loud! And I'll admit, it took some time getting used to the hero being pink (magenta :P ).

On the other hand, I get what you're saying about giving something a chance. I thought the mecha looked ridiculous before the show aired, because their appearance isn't going to change anything; they'll still look that same. That doesn't detract enough from me not watching it though and I agree with you regarding the jumping to conclusions based on what they see. The dancing is still ridiculous. But it's not a deal breaker.

If you notice, most Sentai follows a theme. Harry Potter came out, and what was on the Sentai table? Magiranger. Pirates of the Carribean came out, and we got Gokai. There is a large Western influence on the theme for sentai... usually. I'm not seeing anything dino coming out on the horizon, but like I said, dinos are loved by kids, especially five-nine year old boys (I know, I have a six year old one myself XD )

Again, I get what you're saying, but not of of it's complaints, and some of those complaints are even legitimate in some cases. It's okay to hang up your brain on the shelf (I did it for the Matrix series) and suspend belief, but realize that some can't and want that plot hole filled. I personally don't need it, but for those that can't be open minded to wait for the show to air, I suggest you don't be opened minded to them and just not respond. What I mean is, if someone complains about the way the mecha look, that won't change. But for the guy that says "Mecha sux! Not watching!11!!1!!!1one!" then that's two different enchiladas.

Based on this comment, I think we've reached an agreement. Just realize though that when some people say the mecha look terrible, and have no explanation, they may not be able to articulate themselves enough to get the point across. I think they look terrible, cheesy, and like Playschool Dinosaurs. Their appearance isn't aesthetically pleasing to my eyes. That's all there is to it though. To me, it's just... not good. But I'm not going to cast judgement on the show before I see it.

Another example is the Gosei mechs. They're incredible! I love animal mecha and when they combine with vehicles that's awesome too. But... didn't Go-Onger do that? Same idea, but I think Goseiger pulled it off better. But if we want to talk same-season, I think Datas and Mystic Runner are lame, but they have their own dynamics that redeem those qualities. But Gosei Ultimate... doesn't fit at all. It's a futuristic jet with headders on it, but he doesn't have any redeeming qualities for me. One that would come to mind if he was required to bring all the mech together, but that's not even the case, he's just a backpack! It's a cop-out.

I hope you understand what I'm saying. Not every season is going to appeal to everyone and so Toei does what they can to appeal to the masses which is what matters in the end.

Literally it's the body of Deivos. That's his actual his living body, the goal is to revive him. As for what it's form is referencing I'm not sure. It's like an inverse of the World Tree.

All right, so I watched the subbed version and it was pretty good. The dancing aspect might get on my nerves in the future, but it was a pretty good episodes. I still hate the ending music because I don't understand why there is dancing to go with it when it does not even sound like anything you would dance to, but whatever, that is a minor nitpick. The effects of the T-Rex were pretty nice and I did love the end when the other rangers did not want to reveal themselves and Daigo goes and does it anyway.

Just finished watching the first episode. It definielty left a good impression on me. So far, the Kyoruger seems like an interesting bunch in contrast to the Gobusters.

When I first saw photos of Kyoru Red I thought we were gonna have another Alata-like Red Ranger…and I can see it somewhat in him, but the way he goes about doing things makes him seem quite bad ass in a way. I see a bit of Gentaro in him…actually, in the regards that they're both never say die hot heads.

I'm also loving the random engrish from Black and Pink. I actually wouldn't mind owning the whole team in SHF form now.

I often hear people say that Ban began that tradition of loud shouting reds. But has anyone seen Gaoranger? Kakeru has Ban beat by a few years in the shouting department :lol
