I think I want to redo my list, and break it down a little more.
Teams Goseiger - The Helmets are styled beautifully, I love the contrast of the suits. And I love, for once, the suits weren't one solid color with the inclusion of white pants. Hurricanranger - Ninja Storm might've been horrible but the suits weren't. They were the same, but different. And carried the motif of Ninja very well. Better than I think Kakuranger did. Especially with the inclusion of Crimson and Navy. Green though.. Green looked like a Chinaese Knock-Off of Zyu Green. Boukenger - Again. Horrible adaptation with OO but beautiful suits. And again because they broke up the solid colors, and I love the white. I really do. I love the helmets, I love everything about them. Jetman - I wish this had become MMPR solely for the suits. I love the color schemes, I love the wings, I love the helmets, I love it all. See a pattern here? :lol I really like suits that aren't all one solid color. Individual Suits Gosei Knight - Like no-one saw this coming. His suit made me think Knight. The Headder design on the chest was there, but didn't overtake the whole look. The silver, black, white, and gold were very well balanced. And he carried off looking powerful and badass extremely well. Wolzard Fire - Again, another suit that looked like what it was supossed to embody. A Magical Knight. The Sword and Shield, the angry detailing on the helmet, all worked to make him one of my favorites. Kiba Ranger - This has alot to do with my childhood. I absolutely loved White Ranger way back when. I loved the gold, I loved the feline-styled helmet, and I absolutely loved Saba. If you watch Power Rangers or Sentai and you don't like White Ranger, Kiba Ranger? There's something wrong with you. There just is :lol Worst Suit Designs Timeranger - Hated it. The colored visors always bothered me, and I Hate TimeFire/Quantam Ranger with an unbridled furious Hate like you cannot Imagine. ... Ahem. Zyuranger - Hate me. I don't care. These suits.. They were just a solid block color, with white gloves and boots, and daimond designs. I have no idea why people defend the look of these. I really can't understand it. Jetman was so much more detailed and lovely, and these... these were just crap. Still love MMPR but these suits are crap. Megaranger - The one feeling I remember from the Mega/In Space suits was "Meh". They commited the ultimate sin. They weren't good, and they weren't bad. They just were. Like bland white toast. Least if they were bad they'd have some personality! GOGO V - Yea. They have the same problem Zyuranger did. They were basically solid colors with a lazy/simple design on them. Nothing that stood out, nothing that was good. Just.... blah. Even the morphing sensquence for Lightspeed Rescue was dull as hell. Least Titainium had some personality. |

What do you think about other Rangers with colored visors? Like Go-busters and Gosei Knight? |

What's the difference between TimeFire's visor being Red and GoseiKnight's visor being Red?

The visors were all precisely designed to be arrow shaped. There was no color bleeding (Hell, their helmets were black and silver, with the only color being the visor). Anyway, I was thinking about making a "Worst" suit list, but then I realized I'd probably just spend it hating on Gokaiger some more. |

Gokaiger suits were awesome! If there's a fault, it's that they're very standard in design, but that's a big plus for me. Fits perfectly with the anniversary theme in my opinion.
Actually the reason I love Gokaiger as a whole is because of how standard it is. It just embodies Super Sentai without too many idiosyncracies. Weird of me, right? |

But to be honest, as a whole, I kinda like Battle Fever J's designs, especially Battle Japan and Battle France. I think I'd rate Denjiman as a worse looking team, overall. |

TOP 5 SUIT DESIGN (TEAMS)
5. Kakurager. Some will consider Hurricanger better, but I don't like the Navy or Crimson, so Kakurager is the better overall team in my book. 4. Megaranger. While it's a technology theme it works better as a space theme. 3. Shinkenger. They got a samurai theme to work, that's reason enough. Helps that the suits look good too. 2. Zyuranger. I like dinos and this is still the best overall. 1. Gokaiger. Never has a theme been done so well. People that know nothing of Sentai or PR look at these and think "pirate." TOP 5 SUIT DESIGN (INDIVIDUAL) 5. Signalman. I would've dropped out of PR during Turbo if it wasn't for him. 4. MagiShine. I like capes. Not those silly short ones like the rest of Magiranger has, but full one. The asymmetrical helmet helps too. 3. Black Knight BullBlack...Really? That's his Japanese name? Screw it, he's Magna Defender. 2. Ninjaman. Behold, the power of NINJA! 1. Dekamaster. DAMN YOU BANDAI FIGUART NOW! NOW! NOW!~ PS And yes, Miss America will forever be the ugliest Ranger. Nothing can top that. |
Blade... really? Look. I love Mighty Morphin'. It's what started me into this mess in the first place. But those suits... The best overall? There's absolutely no detail on those things aside from random daimonds. The Armored Suits from the movie would've been better for the show, least they had detail. The Zyu suits though.. Sentai suits didn't start looking acceptable until Hurricane. Though Gao atleast had some detailing.

Geki, and to a lesser extent, Magi suffer from the same blandness problem. They're suits are basically one solid color with very little to break it up. |
That's what Geki aimed for!
They were invoking Bruce Lee's signature suit. Very vibrant, flowing, and when in motion, just a blur of color. |

I don't like most battleizers, especially the clunky,run-through-a-junkyard-with-magnets-in-your-suit types. For example.. http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__...eed_battle.JPG I will give credit where credit is due,the Red Dragon fire Ranger from Mystic Force/Magiranger stayed streamlined throughout. |
Magi being one color fits the magician entertainment aspect- to be flashy :lol

Also, this is personal opinion. I question all but one of your best and worst choices, but whatever dude. There is no right or wrong here. Of course, you're still wrong, but I've given up on you. :p |

Magi had black and yellow to break things up and the girls got white. It's not bland, it's uniform. :D Quote:

Now your example for the worst is actually my example for one of the best. It's why Murphey's transformation into SPD Red's Battilizer worked so well for me. I love when the Battilizer is part of something else and transformers into the armor. Instead of just dropping from thin air. And that is my favorite. I loved it was his motorcycle. Another favorite was Lost Galaxy. Mystic Force's.. I didn't care for. It was basically just a Super Mode. But Dino Thunder I loved. I love me some shoulder cannons like I love peanut butter filled donuts. And I love me some PB filled donuts. |
Quote:
Oh and as for Dino Thunder,I actually liked the look of it,and the cannons.I didnt like that he was basically Super Sentai Stretch Armstrong and had basically a yoyo finisher.(Nothing against Stretch Armstong or Sentai, just the combo)Which raises my question, just how exactly did he do those kicks and punches without breaking his legs or arms?lol |
Team (in no particular order):
Maskman, Changeman, Liveman, Zuyranger, Dairaner, Gingaman, Megaranger, GoGo V, Gaoranger, Hurricanger, Shinkenger, Goseiger, Gokaiger, Gobusters, Kyoruger |

http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/5...amuraishog.png I thought Mystic Force was pretty sweet too, it was something that looked like a natural armor upgrade instead of weird parts poorly tacked on. It's probably the only one I'd consider to have a chance at rivaling the awesome Shogun Mode. http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/6...tfx1qm5yux.jpg I have a soft spot for the Time Force Red's Battlizer (but goodness not the Quantum Ranger's) http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/2889/wesbattlized.jpg Now, SPD's was very, very good, good enough to be part of Super Sentai! However, I found his silver, reflective thong seriously distracting, it just stood out in what was otherwise a cool design. What were they thinking?!? http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/9...dbattlized.jpg |
Quote:
I liked the LSR Battilzer for that reason. How else are you going to turn a Motorcycle into a Battilzer Armor :lol The one thing I didn't like was the finisher where it just shot off the tires. That seemed lazy to me. Comic: Shogun doesn't count. Damn thing only left the Megazord once. But I agree with you about one thing. Mystic might've been more a Super Mode, but it was pretty. |

Anyone here knows who designed the Battlizers? Did PLEX do them? |

The only one I don't really agree with of your picks is SPD. I think it looks a little goofy personally. Plus...it doesn't help that Dekaranger/SPD isn't my favorite season (Ayumi Kinoshita is the only thing I like about it). |

I'm kind of the opposite there. I think the bulky look for when they're in the zords is a little weird.

Looks like this thread gets resurrected every January. So in keeping with the trend... ;)
Favorite Team Suits: 1. Gingaman! I love these things. From the craggy helmets to the Charlie Brown tunics. Weird enough to be memorable, but still well within the classic sentai design parameters. They're great. (Sidenote: IMO, GingaBlue is the hottest ever Sentai dude.) 2. Dairanger - I don't think anyone's gonna argue with me here. Those helmets. Those tunics. If it weren't for the ugly badges, these would be #1. Just beautiful. 3. Maskman - These, to me, are the most classic Sentai uniforms. Sentai minimalism at its best. And yes, I am a fan of earrings on helmets (especially when they're also bombs). 4. Gokaiger - The best interpretation of a specific theme (pirates). They slam just enough pirate iconography into classic sentai aesthetics, and the result is magical. One of my favorite things is how GokaiSilver's helmet deviates from the others -- it's a piratey bandana complete with a knot in the back. Best use of a theme in all of Sentai. 5. Bioman - Man, I'm really a fan of suits where big blocks of white break up the main color. They're so experimental and odd, especially for an 80s show. The electronic circuitry on the chests are what really push these over the edge for me. Originally, I was going to put Hurricanger in this slot, but those suits are sort of too similar to Dairanger . The Bioman suits, on the other hand, are just too cool and idiosyncratic to ignore. Favorite Individual Suits: 1. King Ranger 2. Kiba Ranger 3. Dai Pink 4. Black Mask 5. Shinken Gold Favorite Extra Hero Suits: 1. Signalman 2. Zeek-Jeanne 3. Signalman 4. Daikenjin Zubaan 5. Signalman Other Awesome Designs That Might Not Count: 1. Nezirangers! So so so so cool. 2. Akibaranger. See above. 3. Shadow Jetman. Hot damn! What about everyone else? |
Hmmm...
1) Go-Busters -Sleek and fit the military theme well, apart from the brightly coloured leather. 2) Megaranger -I don't know what it is, but they just appeal to me. 3) Dekaranger -The team numbers, the head-headlights, it all looks good to me. 4) Goraigers -I was going to put the Hurricanegers in here as well, but then I realised I love the dark colours and armour of these guys 5) Ohrangers -Especially the visor designs Favourite Individual Suits AbareKiller Dragon Ranger Geki Violet Gokai Christmas Go-On Silver Extra Heroes Bull Knight Signal Man Awesomely honourable mention: Akibarangers |
Top 5.
1) Zyuranger. I may not like MMPR that much, and I may have never seen Zyuranger, but these suits are just so iconic to any kid who grew up in the US or UK in the 90s. 2) Jetman. My first sentai that hadn't been adapted into Power Rangers and I just mean look at these guys, the suits are just so detailed and ahead of their time, they are awesome. 3) Magiranger. Love the colours, love the details and I really love how they tried something different. 4) Gekiranger. They are just awesome in how unique they feel, it also helps that they were adapted for Jungle Fury, my favourite Power Ranger show. 5) Goseiger. My favourite sentai team, and although I'm not all that hot on their Super Change, there is something about the refined detail and blend of new and old in their base design that I just adore. Individual. Time Fire as the Quantum Ranger is my all time favourite Ranger. The Thunder Rangers - they were just so damn cool looking. The Psycho Rangers - one of the coolest concepts in Power Rangers history, how come they've only ever been done once? They are just so, so, so cool looking. Blending classic Ranger design with nightmare monsters. |
Teams
1. Gokaiger- A prime example of a suit design that had perfect aesthetics. The suits are simple in design (nothing but black spandex with matching color jacket and boots) but powerful and I love how the helmets had battle scars running down and the logo was placed perfectly on the suits and helmets. 2. GoGo V- They looked like life savers but in a strange way I love it and liked how the helmets each represented different rescue divisions 3. Magiranger- Loved the capes 4. Megaranger- Liked how the helmets inside represented a different kind of electronic for each member 5. Shinkenger- As I mentioned with Gokaiger, Shinkenger was in terms of suit aesthetics was very nice and liked the kanji on the helmets. Individual 1.Gokai Silver 2. Kyoryu Gold 3. Magi Shine 4. Go-On Wings 5. AbareBlack |
