Well, I'll guess I'll still be sticking to PC then.

I think my tune would change if there were exclusive games out on consoles that I'd want to play. For example, Metal Gear Rising Revengence is coming to PC.
While I own an Xbox 360, I hardly play it. My son does though, so there's that. With Ubisoft being smart and pandering to gamers across all consoles and PCs, I'll be good for a while, with Assassin's Creed and Watch_Dogs. |
Oh, while not mentioned during the conference, IGN is reporting that the XboxOne definitely is not "always-online."

As a gamer I just find it slightly annoying that my console has to do everything now because it's all about earning as much money as possible and appealing to as many as possible. Without ranting, a lot of things about modern gaming industry annoys me =p |
As has become my standard trend I'll upgrade to this bad boy when it comes out. It's the only console that holds any type of interest for me anymore. Nintendo and Sony just don't do it for me anymore. I like the name and the overall design to be honest. No hate coming from me on this.
i don't like that the box does everything thoguh. I just need it to play games and netflix but oh well, can't have it exactly like I want I guess. |
Apparently you have to pay a fee on this new console if you want your pre-owned games to work on it.
http://www.computerandvideogames.com...-for-xbox-one/ FUCK that. |

I get how it effects developers and everything but come on, it's a joke. It never killed anybody back in the day so why is it such a problem now? |

I do not agree with it. I'm 100% against it. But looking from within the industry, I completely understand. It just makes sense. But most people won't get that. And I don't like it, even understanding the reasoning, one bit. |
Is it just me or does it look like one of those generic game boxes that were out years ago?

Yeah, I watched the conference and was not impressed. TV talk, sports, sports fantasy (whatever that is), sports games, Halo tv series, sports on tv, a game that looked interesting for the whole 30 seconds we saw it, and then Call of Duty. Whoopiefriggado. The machine looks like a VCR.
They did say you would not have to be plugged online to play singler player games, but everything else works from the internet. It will play used games, but because the games are going to be connected with your profile and require installs to play, you will have to pay an install fee for games that have been previously used. The controller requires batteries again. And not backwards compatibility (which we all knew). Oh yeah, and three operating systems so that the console can crash three times over. http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1418e163.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps07f7b27d.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2cc19d83.jpg http://i.imgur.com/vmKFv8f.jpg |

Just the fact that you're going to have to pay multiple fees out the ass is enough to convince me to stick with the PS4.

Im assuming he meant it requires you to actually have to take them out and replace them, not that it has an internal rechargeable one.
My stream was laggy so I actually have no idea what the controller has and hasn't got. |
Oh goodness. Since we're dreaming, let's make it Den-O Climax Powered. Pick up the controller and say "Charge and Up" and that charges it completely. XD

I may be getting old but consoles are getting way too confusing for me. I thought the reason I got consoles over PCs was because they were more simple and easy to use (and cheaper).
I hate the used games fee, that makes no sense from the consumers' point of view. |
|

Well, first they said the system wasn't always-online. Now its confirmed the XBONE needs to be on once every 24 hours to work.
And the fee thing is apparently misunderstood too. I'll be glad if thats not true but Microsoft not making such key details clear is another huge misstep in my books. |

So then, what's this about needing to be turned on once every 24 hours? I also read that as "X-Bone" :lol |
Yeah I found another conflicting source on it after following the trail. >_<
Only Kotaku is saying the 24-hour thing about being online. But we'll see what it does if you don't do that in due time. Right now, there's SO MUCH BULLSHIT with conflicting stories, so I'm done. I'm just done. I'm not looking into it anymore until another massive and CLEAR (not legaleze bull) announcement is made. So probably E3. It's all too conflicting and confusing and I just want to play my damn games... Today's been way too annoying with the back-and-forth from every other source, without any clear indication what to believe out of it. |
One thing that's irritating for the always online thing is our armed forces. When they serve on ships or overseas, they cannot use online capabilities. I know when Ubisoft tried that with AC2 or Brotherhood, (can't remember which one specifically) many members of the armed forces cried foul, and I agree with them.

But they have a lot of work to do. It's hard to save face when you make a vital misannouncement like that :lol |

(And already a good one from Phil Harrison, the corporate VP at Microsoft, has come out.)
What I have gathered is that, assuming you can connect to the Internet to sign in, you can sign into your Live account on any Xbox One. Your account is not tied to a particular system. Which sounds like a vast improvement and something I have wanted for quite a long time. But, you will still need to be in your account that first purchased and activated the game to use it. If the friend whose Xbox One you were playing on wants to continue playing the game, short of letting him sign in as you, he will have to purchase the game. It is not at all a fee. It's a legitimate purchase. It's not the same type of sharing that is possible now, as Phil Harrison claims, with disk sharing - because they won't be able to play even with that disk unless signed into your account or purchasing it themselves. It's more limiting than what we are used to, yes. But it does not sound nearly as horrible (to me) as some are making it out to be. Unfortunately, the always-online bits are still somewhat unsettling. But it still does sound like you will simply have to be online for the extended entertainment purposes, not for everything. That's my current take on everything and what I'm sticking to for now or unless definitively proven wrong. We're promised a future official announcement, which is why everything is so conflicting today; they never intended to address these issues. |
The further consoles "progress" the more I become completely uninterested. It just seems to be alienating wider and wider audiences with each generation and making it that much more expensive to run it all. And since they seem to be pushing more and more to basically make bottom end PCs for twice the price, without the upgradablity, I really see no reason to be a console gamer any more.
Every benefit for a console over a PC seems set to be gone in the next generation. |

Whats the big deal with always online. Once that idea came out everyone has been hating. Assuming that you have anything other than a wii. You should have internet.
Whats the problem here, Can anyone explain? |

Many countries in the world do not have an unlimited internet. They don't pay X amount of dollars and it's a set rate. Australia comes to mind here. Others, have terrible internet connection. Some are even still on dial-up in the States. The internet is another bill that has to be paid. Some people just use their cell phones for their internet, and don't have a computer at home, and just play offline games. Me personally? I don't care to go online, unless it's an update for a game and that's still annoying. I just don't care to play with other people, or need to know the news, sports, weather etc. while I'm playing a game. |

My other arguments is about everyone complaining about what I made bold. I mean our phones do it at, it doesnt seem like such a big deal for our consoles to do it. I'm sure its going far from as complicated as everyone believes it will be. Although I'm not all that excited about the kinect usage. I hope it doesnt end up being like a wiimote, something we HAVE to use. when the wii first came out there was nothing more I wanted back than the gamecube controller. I just hope all the fancy kinect tech doesnt become a necessity. |
