He did have the Blade Blaster in a lot of the vintage toys. My "auto morphing" Green Ranger had one, for example. |

Sure, the Danish kings of plastic bricks are coming up with some good stuff, but those are seeming farther apart. The last two sets I bought were the two smaller Legends of Chima sets. And while those are good, the two instruction booklets per set feels pointless and only four sets from that line even interest me. Those being the two I own and the Croc boat & big Raven jet. And even then, that's because all the other sets look kind of stupid. Then there's Hero Factory's ball joints on ball joints construction. You talked about the original Clone Turbo Tank being a frame with panels? That's all Hero Factory is now! And then there's any sets that have a "Mech" in them. After the wonderful concept of Exo-Force, these all seem paltry. Lex Luthor's Robot-thing from the DC license line or the Mechs from Ninjago? They would be a step backwards if the things actually had knees. And if Kiryu gets ticked when Ponies leak out of their designated thread, I suggest we all move our "LEGO is getting really stale" conversations to the designated "LEGO and other Cronstruction toys" thread. |

PS I rewatched Return of an old Friend recently and there's a scene where Green does a flip to get up off the ground. During the flip, the blade blaster falls out of the holster and bounces off Green's foot when he lands. It's hilarious. :lol |

Though I don't hate Lego, just that this idea that Megabloks or other non-Lego building sest are "bullshit" is archaic and incorrect. |
Are the Megabloks Megazords worthwhile?
I have read a lot of bad reviews for them on Amazon and such that they do not stay together well and have poor construction on certain parts. Just curious. |

We have galleries on Samurai, Claw Armor, and Gosei Great sets if you want a better look. |

And that sounds fun. I might start watching MMPR, to catch some stuff like that. :p |
Yeah, the newer Megazords are much better, but then again that's just it with Megabloks: the new stuff is always better.
Also yeah, I kind of want to Rewatch MMPR now. Maybe when I get this set I will. :D |
I think the only reason I never got a Megablok Samurai megazord was because I was a little disappointed that the individual pieces couldn't become the zords (I'm not crying over the lack of Origami mode, just the animal modes).
I know it's shallow of me, since the Megabloks Samurai Megazord is priced at, like, $20, but I just wanted to have the option of the animal modes. |
These are very neat, what I was hoping they would do after they made the new bodies, I wish they would have Halo style articulation so they could do ninja moves.
Lego is the original knock off clone brand, so I guess after a few decades Oxford will have invented Lego since if you copy something long enough you become the original creator. It's ridiculous that you would want worse figures and less custom parts, I am sure there are people that still are upset the mini figures aren't brick built. Is that yellow tank zord thing good? I have always thought it looked neat, reminded me of the Thunder tank. |
This is a neat set.

Both Megabloks and Kre-O have improved over the past couple years, I'll freely admit that but they just don't have the same appeal as LEGO. I mean, who wouldn't want this?

I'm not saying Lego doesn't have an appeal, but it's an outdated and limited appeal. It's novelty, but in this day and age novelty isn't enough. Thats like if all Transformers toys were poorly-sculpted bricks like G1 and hid behind the excuse of "it's got cham." No, the original old toys have charm because the idea of that being the standard at one point is endearing. However nowadays they're just lazy and archaic. Still perfectly fine for what they are, but it's what they are that's the problem. Now the chibi-style Halo minifigs? (technically called Microfigures) That's charming, because at that tiny size you're forced to cartoon proportions a bit for sake of joint stability, and it's cute yet at the same time awesome how detailed they keep them. Imagine those helmets but on the articulated Megabloks bodies actually posed instead of their arms and legs slightly moved. |

I'd have preferred that they went with traditional outdated Lego-like bodies than the Playmobil-ish look here. Obviously the Halo bodies would be the best, but these just look off to me.
|
Like Brock's and Haribo, I think it's ridiculous that people would want less articulated immobile mini-figures that have to fake poses on their boxes instead of actually being able to pose.
I assume the Halo/Wow style bodies must be part of the agreement with those companies, since they make the totally different style for the other lines. |

But really, I still don't mind these figures. They're a nice midway balance, still able to pose nicely thanks to the ball-joints. (especially the ankles) And hey, if this is a necesary stepping stone to getting Halo-style articulated rangers of any series, I'm all for it. |
Throwing this up as it seems the best place to put it.
I figured out the UPC to this item and checked it on TRU, also getting the price and Item Number for TRU: Mega Bloks 20th Anniversary Collector's MMPR Pack Release Date: August Price: $14.99 TRU Item Number: 89473 UPC: 065541058361 However, after checking the last week for any Distribution Center quantities or store inventories, I finally saw that the TRU Region's DC that covers Southern California, Nevada and Arizona has 318 of these in the DC. This means they should be hitting stores over the next few days to week. I'm going to keep asking for information on it, because TRU will be updating their inventory system with stores to receive it within the next 24-48 hours, so we will get a heads up. |
