One thing about Episode 3 of Ginga that really stuck out to me…
How come nobody but Mizuzu seemed to notice the two giant monsters duking it out right in front of them? |

Ep. 4 was another solid one, Chigusa arc was fun, and even if the battle this week was kinda short it more than made for it with Jean-Killer debut, Ginga's color timer blinking red for the first time and Tiga! Who apparently will debut on his dark form.
Also a new "attack" this week as per usual tradition, we probably won't see his L beam till the last episode. So far so good. :) |
Jeankiller beating Ginga was one of the most brutal sequences ever.

I really dug episode 4. Great emotion and one heck of an ending! This show keeps hitting the sweet spot for me.
Side note: in Ultra Q, Ragon was attracted to music, so this was an appropriate monster for this idol story. And Jeankiller's assault on Ginga seems like a direct reference to the Showa Mechagodzila. In both of his movies, he used attacks in that style, and they were filmed almost exactly the same way, including Jeankiller's rotating gauntlet like the MG's rotating hands. |
So I saw episodes 1 and 2 of Ginga today. Didn't jive with me as well as Nexus has. Not going to jump ship, but the series hasn't really grabbed me yet.
|
This might have been mentioned before, but has anyone subbed Ginga? TV Nihon?

Ep 5!
At first it looked like it was going to be a clip show, but thankfully it wasn't. I felt the first part was kinda slow, but after Jean and Ginga started to fight everything accelerated. The appearance of Tiga Dark (one of my favorite ultra designs ever) was the cherry on the top, and the spark doll theatre was very funny this week too. Never change black king. :lol Next episode looks awesome in every sense of the word. |
I like that it took them five episodes to introduce another full sized Ultraman outside of Taro in his doll form.
It really helps make Ginga stand on his own two feet, outside of acting as the catalyst for these past heroes to appear. It's also going to be a much bigger deal when Ginga finally transforms into a past Ultraman I think. This is one thing that Ginga's doing better then Gokaiger or Decade in my opinion. |
Jeankiller is awesome, especially now that I have realized that he is the only transforming robot I know of that wears shoes.
|
Really liked episode 5, bring on Ginga vs Tiga Dark! WWWYKI!
|
Watching episode 6 of Ginga. I should have realised with there being an Ultra Mother and Father, but I didn't know child Ultramen were a thing :lol
Also, random question...what's with the black dots on Taro's eyes? They really throw me because they make him look like a cartoon character. |
Quote:
And Taro's eyes have always been that way, it simply was more obvious when he was shown as a child. Out of memory Seven and Max have the same style of eyes. Good finale, the battle against Tiga was kind of meh, but they made up for it with the double finisher Ginga Cross Shoot! And Ginga spoke! He didn't say anything important, but he spoke! I'll miss Ginga... how long till the next 6 air? |
As with the rest of the series thus far Ginga is very consistent and enjoyable. Nice team-up at the end there too. I do hate how they've broken up the episodes and specials though. Makes it hard to get back in later on down the road.
And according to Overtime they won't be subbing any other Ultra related things unless they're at least somewhat related to Ginga. I'm not sure if next weeks' episode counts enough as a Ginga tie-in for them to do it, but i really hope so. Some consistent subs of Retsudan would be awesome. |

Also I kinda lost it when I saw that Jean Nine has a crotch laser. |
Afteer episode 6, the next step for Ginga is the upcoming theatrical special, which is due in theaters on September 7. As we can see in the trailer, Tyrant is coming back for the 45 minute special!
http://www.scifijapan.com/articles/2...ecial-trailer/ The first theatrical special also includes a co-feature entitled "Giant Monster Rush Ultra Frontier: Dino-Tank Hunting," which is an animated short based on a Bandai arcade game. It features some alien monster hunters tracking down the classic Ultraseven monster Dino-Tank! Evidently the game is a sort of "track and catch" game where you capture classic Ultra Monsters. http://www.scifijapan.com/articles/2...pecial-photos/ No idea when it will be on DVD for Over-Time to get ahold of it. From there it has been announced that the next 5 episodes will be in November and December, followed by a second theatrical special in the Spring, bringing the total of "Season One" (from what I understand it is specifically called out this way in the press release) to 13. |
That looks awesome, and it seems Hikaru will ultralive into Tiga. Double awesome.
And a Dino Tank hunt :lolol that's hilarious. Funnily enough yesterday while we were watching Ginga, I was telling my mother about Dino Tank, she thinks it's the most retarded thing ever. :lol |
You know what my favorite part of Episode 6 was? Taro's childhood. Good grief, I never thought I could love the story of a hero's family so much.
Bandai, read my words. We need, NEED, NEED an Ultra-Act Taro-tot to go with Father and Mother of Ultra, and we need, NEED, NEED him now. |
Finally got to sit down with episode 6 last night. Absolutely loved it! Between Taro's childhood, the apperance by Father and Mother of Ultra, some good fleshing out of the characters, good combat, and a heck of a finish! I am sad that we're going to have to wait for the next installment!
Personally I really liked how they kep Tiga's style of combat from his own show. Very nifty. The idea of Jeankiller as Ginga's ally reminds me of Gomora as the hero of Mega Monster Battle Ultra Galaxy! |
Over-Time released the next episode of New Ultraman Anthology.
Victory! |

The little recap special was fun. The Tiga Dark part really reinforces my desire to watch Tiga. I was thinking of watching Mebius next after Max, but I may go to Tiga first.
I also caught up on Ginga's last two episodes yesterday. It's a weird little show, but I enjoyed it. There's a definite low-budget feel to it and the story feels really weak, but I like most of the characters and the battles are still pretty cool. I will definitely come back for part two. Especially if Chigusa never, ever talks in it (bitch's voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard). |

But I share the Tiga sentement, though Mebius was also my next planned show after I finish Ultra galaxy. |

Finally watched Retsuden/Anthology 8, it was fun, I had forgotten how brutal the fights were in early Ultra shows. Next episode focuses on Jean-Nine and the events of "Killer the Beatstar" must check it out before next week. |
can some tell me where i can told Ginga

This show is giving me more headaches.
In episode 9 Zero said Jean Killer/Nine in Ginga universe isn't the same one that is in the Ultra-multiverse. But at the same time Zero keeps refering Earth as in the one they are familiar with. So it sounded like there is universe merging taking place in the show. I bet I couldn't even tell which universe Ginga will be talking about in later episodes. |
Just caught Retsudan 9. Can't believe that after THIS long that Retsudan is only just now exploring the history of the Jumborgs, Mirrorman, and Fireman. It was an awesome little history lesson though.
But like DrillBit said, Zero goes out of his way to mention that the Ginga-verse is separate and that it's Jean-Killer/Nine is not the same as theirs. I had just assumed the war from Ginga took place in M78 and the dolls wound up in the Ginga universe. But maybe some things come from Ginga's world too? |
Perhaps Ginga series will be used as a springboard to merge the Universes together? I mean, in the revenge of Belial movei, Zero did explore multiverses and it could mean crossing universes are possible.
But anyhows, I thoroughly ENJOYED the history lesson and the banter between Glenfire and Zero was priceless. Love it. |
It's great to see Zero and Glenfire again, missed those guys, they remain as awesome as ever. Ultraman Ginger :lol
Also nice recap, it was great to see the guys that Ultimate Force Zero homage, Jum-Fight! Not sure if I want to see the next one, I would rather avoid Mebius spoilers since that's the next Ultra show I want to watch. Quote:
|
Has anyone mentioned that the guitarist in "Ginga no Hasha" is awesome and sounds like (s)he is having a blast in the full version of the song? Because it's true.
|
I loved Glenfire's reaction to Fireman. Amusing as heck!
The old school hero recaps was a blast; loved seeing these guys in action. Unfortunately this makes me want to buy the Ultra-Acts of Glenfire, Mirror Knight, Jean-Bot, and Jean-Nine! :lol |
Quote:
Glenfire is getting re-released soon, and man he's tempting me too, maybe even more than Zero V2. Episode 11 (Didn't watch 10 :p) It was neat, basically a rebroadcast of the Seven episode but it was interesting, as usual Zero and Glenfire steal the show. ("Weird fire thing" :lol) Glenfire~ |
Watched episode 12 last night, the first half of a two-part retrospective on the monster Tyrant. Very funny stuff with Icarus-seijin and Taro, but also cool to see all of the clips from the various Showa Ultra shows. I am eager to see the next part!
|
12: More Taro and Hikaru is great, there even was a a fight between Ginga and Eleking at the start.
Tyrant's backstory is interesting even if I already knew the story of Seagorath and Red King, it's great to see the older Ultras in action. Also: Jack had a very shiny suit. :lol |
13: Tyrant's retrospective continues!
We see Taro and Ace in action, plus Zero's fight with Tyrant, it was a fun episode and it's great to see more of Hikaru and Taro. There was another of those CG shorts, now focusing on Baltan, who is a... space ninja? and the sole survivor of his planet? Whatever... Next week Zero returns to tell us everything about his master: Leo! Looking forward to it. :D |
