Honestly, if this show could just take Daigo down a notch it would be so much better. It's already going in (hopefully) an interesting direction with the Deboss so that's my main issue with it now.

Daigo's endless optimism and strength is his weakness, this was proved in more than one episode. The most recent being the one with Gray and Bunpachy. He had to learn weakness in order for Bun to accept him, and he did.
And how is this any different than any other season of Sentai? Marvelous was the focus of Gokaiger to the point that he even had his own custom-made villian. Basco. Gosei Knight became the focus of Goseiger, Sorry Alata. And look at Shinkenger! It's not like this is the first time this happened. Just look at Power Rangers too. Conner. Is all that needs to be sad there, Conner. Atleast the other Kyoryugers don't need to give up all their power and de-morph just so he can get some glittering gold trim on his suit. Conner, you're a power-whore. It's time to goto Rehab. (No, no, no)
But back to my original point. Daigo has not been the sole focus of the show, since the start of the show. Everyone has had their own arc. Yayoi just had her own arch. And really? No. She will be a continuing character and Plesy will be her Voltasaur. It's only been one episode of her in the suit, and she's still learning.
And, really, if the show makes you that upset.. Why in the heck are you still watching it :eyebrow

His weakness was essentially "he has no weaknesses". It was overcome far too easily and hasn't made a blind bit of difference to the way they treat his character.

Marvelous still had flaws. And despite Marvelous getting most of the attention the remaining five Gokaigers all had backstories that Marvelous WASN'T a part of.

When he was introduced? Sure. For the whole show? Not even close.

I'll give you that, but Takeru is still a far better written character than Daigo.

Which involves her fawning over Daigo.

So why was Daigo the one who called and piloted Plesuon even though she was standing RIGHT THERE?

Because it's not wrong to want a show to do better.

I love Kyoryuger, I really do. But the emphasis on Daigo is really getting a bit ut of control. Having him pilot Plezuoh in Yayoi's spotlight episode and introduction to being a Kyoryuger was a bit of a kick in the crotch, to be honest.

Unfortunately it seems it might get worse on the Daigo-worship rather then better considering Kyoryu Red Carnival. Awesome design, but basically confirms Daigo's going to be the main focus of every fight for a long time.

I don't really see how Marvelous hogged the spotlight at all or at least not compared to most other Reds. Basco was only a recurring villain and pretty much all of Marvelous' spotlights were the Basco episodes, with pretty much every other episode spotlighting the whole team or a different Gokaiger.

I actually kind of regret stopping. For all its faults, there are some enjoyable aspects of the show. It's not like Goseiger, where I dropped it and never looked back.

Feel free to pick it back up, then. I'm only sticking with it out of boredom.

I've watched enough Sentai to know that Red would always get something a little extra, but Kyoryuger has just been blatant about it. And its not just a little extra, its a whole damn package! If I compare it to Timeranger and Shinkenger, 2 Sentais that were Red Centric, with Timeranger they waited until the last 10 eps before concentrating all their focus on Tatsuya. And in Shinken at least you had Mako and Chiaki not worshipping the very ground Takeru threads on. But in Kyoryu everybody fawns over Daigo. Maybe character wise I can understand if Nossan, Amy and Ucchi are like that because they're very carefree people and Ucchi is subservient. With Souji with his stand-offish personality maybe he just doesn't care if his not the center of attention, but Ian he's supposed to be the playboy and playboys have naturally big egos and I don't think he would settle for playing second fiddle to anybody.

I guess I would have liked to see something like what happened in Hurricanger were Yousuke wasn't much different compared to Nanami and Kouta. Maybe the three had a little more going for them compared to the Gouraigers and Shurikenger but as a whole they were pretty balanced.

Me too, kinda. I've watched an episode here and there since I've dropped the show (episode 12) and just the action scenes man, I dunno whether Kyoryuger is just an especially well constructed action show or it's just because I've seen so much Kamen Rider and their tiny budgets lately, but man it's just insane and so fun. But then everything else sucks and I'm reminded why I dropped it...

Now I trawl each of the week thread in the hope of a light at the end of the tunnel, but each week it seems those who dislike this show only grow, and it's funny because just a few months back you couldn't move for people claiming this the greatest sentai of our generation.

To be fair, it looked fun at the beginning. You could only take so much from one character I suppose. I mean its fine if its KR since one man is the title character but when its supposed to be a team and you only get one guy then it kinda defeats the purpose of calling it a sentai.

I mean yes, it is no Divine Comedy. But, at the same time people like Matrix Beast are treating Kyoryuger as some kind of high budget story. When really, it is a Tokusatsu for kids...

Yeah I agree, the stories that initially established our Rangers were great - minus Souji's insanely bland introduction and the stuff around Cyan and stuff was great as well, but then it was just pure filler after that. And not even good filler, it was insanely goofy and the villains in this iteration are pathetic. I thought Gold would be the saving Grace, but all he did was throw the whole team out of balance and get a story so rushed it lost all sense of purpose. I was done by that point.

I agree with most of the complaints, especially the fact that Kyoryu Violet can't even summon her own damn Megazord.

That aside, I still really liked this episode. Yayoi's an interesting character and the action is still top-notch. I'd like to see what happens with the Deboss Army; they can't be writing everyone out just yet.

The focus on Daigo doesn't bother me. As a fan of Rangers who aren't Red (usually Blue), I've probably just grown accustomed to the focus on the Red Ranger. Having Yayoi and Amy fawn over Daigo is too much, though. I also agree with everyone else about Plezuon not being summoned by Yayoi, but I saw it coming, since we can't have a female pilot a mecha that has does more than serve as a limb (seriously, Mako—Chiaki did not deserve the Kabuto Origami). Aside from that, I thought it was an excellent episode. I really think that Yayoi could have had a better arc before she became KyoryuViolet, but her first time in the suit more than made up for it. I really hope everyone is right about Yayoi being like Kibaranger, though.

My anger stems from Daigo, not anything else. The story itself is decent, but it's Daigo's prominence that kills it.
Every Red is the focus of their series, but Daigo is the only focal point of the series. He's integral to everyone's story, if they even have a story, he's in command of every extra beast, he, literally, has no weakness.

A character being cool is hard to enjoy when the show makes them be the only one allowed to do anything at all every week.

People keep complaining that BOTH Yayoi and Amy "fawn" over Daigo. Amy does not. She got jealous of Yayoi but couldn't understand why and then decided that she isn't going to worry about it. She doesn't even understand why Yayoi considers her a rival and mistook "not losing to her" as battle skills.

Yeah, I can see Amy and Daigo developing into more later, but there has been absolutely zero fawning on Amy's part. I'm not defending Daigo's obnoxious amount of focus, but right now Yayoi's the only fawning one.

The crush is still there and probably going to come up again when it doesn't need to. The whole point is BOTH female characters have apparent crushes on the infallible main character, whether they're blatant or not.

It isn't as if anyone is holding you at gunpoint to watch this... yet.

I'm sorry but I love Diago and part of his character is that he believes in his team and is taking all the risks, maybe that is something for the future or part of a bigger story, but I like it. I like where everyone is.

I don't think Diago is a main focus in Souji's love life, Ian wanting revenge or Nossan's family life. Which all have had episodes and dealt with Diago not being a main part.

Utchy's big thing with Diago is that Diago's ancestor looks like Diago.

Also, I believe anyone of the team can use the other beast batteries and zords or whatever, didn't Amy originally get Ankydon?


I think there is a lot more to this then a lot of people give credit to.

Except he doesn't. Someone who believes in his team wouldn't do all the work for them.
His apparent "Weakness" was that he had so little faith in his team that he was afraid they'd get hurt.

That has only ever been brought up in one episode as a gag. Souji has no story arc yet, as his father issues was resolved, effectively resolving his story.
Except the stone around Daigo's neck is the same kind of stone Ian took back from Aigaron, and glistens along with the larger stone, making Daigo intertwined in that story arc, now.

I counter that Nossan's family has been brought up 3 times in 25 episodes. Unless there's a greater story behind them, Nossan doesn't really have a story arc, and in one of them, they weren't crucial characters.
And that the ancestor that looked like Daigo died, so Utchy constantly panicked about letting Daigo in the present day hurt. Daigo may not have been the one to have died 500 years ago, but Daigo was vital for Utchy's story arc.

I just had a thought that maybe in the end Lucky and Candi might make a face turn kind of like Vancuria in Magi or the Ministers in Go-On.

At least then they'd have stories that didn't involve the King of kings.

Personally, I like the idea that they'll become Kyoryu Silver and Buragigas like King J-Der.
