Love that fact that after Pine Arms kicks a hole through the Invess the hole looks like a pineapple ring.

Don't Lie after you defeat the MoTW and go home for the first time with a driver, playing with the thing we would all do
|
Great episode. The faces Kota made were hilarious. Also super excited for next week. 'Amoured Rider' Baron finally appears (totally digging his tune from the driver). Also bikes! Can't wait for the sword toy to come out to match my driver and lockseeds that transform into bikes!
|
That Lock Seed dealer must be a significant character. No way he's just selling Sengoku Drivers when they're so friggin' powerful. Could he be the Virgo type character.
And how on Earth did Yuuya afford one? Team Gaim could barely afford a single Lock Seed, much less a whole driver! Lots of fishy things...So excited to see how this story unfolds! |
Oh man
Akira's reaction to Kouta transforming is PRICELESS! And her reaction to Kouta spamming the lock seeds and belts…I imagine that's what a lot of Japanese parents go through when their kid gets a new Belt. :lol:lolol |

Another amazing episode. I can't get over how great this series is shaping up to be.
|
This episode was just fantastic and a lot of fun. 2 Episodes in and I'm enjoying the hell out of this show.
I just hope it keeps up pace cause I remember Wizard had a strong opening too before I decided to drop the show... |
|
Whell...the verdict in my book is in.
Best Rider Series Evah.* That's just my book. Just from the second episode. It's literally so much fun, I've started to forget all about Fourze and Wizard. Which is sad because I liked them too. But this...is just awesomesauce with pineapple dressing. *Note: Does not include any series that starts with Kamen Rider. Consult your lock seed for directions and pulpiness. |
Also, I have to say two things, first I'll be pulped if the Subber working on the release didn't get that out in a time machine. That was FAST. Like Clock Up fast.
Second: I'm curious about why they're calling him Armored Rider, rather than Kamen. I know, I know, semantics. But it would make sense to the final episodes of Wizard where he didn't realize he was a Kamen Rider. EDIT: Read some back pages, and that makes sense, Beat Riders, versus Armored Riders. Kids still need to learn to dance, but Baron is teh awesome. |
Like I'm thinking, Armoured Rider may warp into Kamen Rider. Maybe once he finds "Armoured" too threatening, imposing, or just to set himself apart.
|
Since we're getting those new Energy Riders later I think they'll probably keep Armored Riders. Who knows, there may be more sub groups of riders too. Since Beat Riders are your standard whoever people with Locks, the Armored Riders are Beats with actual fighting suits, and the Energy Riders "juice" the Locks to create their powers I'm not sure that we'll see the term Kamen used outside of crossover movies :(
Wizard strayed away from it too, but hell Wizard strayed away from even calling him "Wizard" proper unless it was in movies. The first instance of the English term "Wizard" being used is in the Ultimatum film, and that's only when the Akumaizer use it. Otherwise the Japanese term "mahouski" was used in series. Seemingly not giving him his proper title. Perhaps Gaim will repeat this process? |
I guess it makes sense.
There's not really a reason to call him a Kamen Rider. There's a hell of a lot more defining features before the fact that he wears a mask. |

I like that they don't use the name "Kamen Rider" in the show anyway, because I really enjoy those moments where they pass the title down to each other in crossover stuff. |
Was OOO ever called a Kamen Rider?

And now, a calm, rational response to Kamen Rider Gaim Episode 2.

Be cool boy. http://www.tokunation.com/attachment...1&d=1381933676 For tha ladiees. http://www.tokunation.com/attachment...1&d=1381933676 It's like they said "hey we've got a bunch of evil Captain Marvelous coats from the Go-buster x Gokaiger movie. Lets use those! Totally agreed. And if it weren't for Magiranger, we wouldn't have learned that mahoski meant wizard or magician (technicalities). Because they said it in every other sentence. Also..... is it just me or is she sooooooooo hoooooottt....? http://www.tokunation.com/attachment...1&d=1381933676 Sentai, we might have someone running for Candee's money. The end. |
Your posts are always awesome. :lolol

Wow, I loved this episode. A few specifics:
- Video of Gaim's Pine Arms fight went viral! I can't express how much I love the show's integration of social media. It's so rare that we get the larger population's perceptions of Riders in these shows -- usually, we only see the stories from the main characters' POVs. Being able to see how people react to the emergence of super powered heroes broadens the world in a refreshing way. - We become privy to the rules of these dance crews' interactions. The Invess battle rules are so complex! Lends an interesting feeling of history to the proceedings. - Pine Arms looks like a matador! His segmented armor pieces move like a cape! It's so weird and unusual looking! I love it! - Kaito is a conflicted badass with a distinct moral code! I can't wait to see how he and Kouta inevitably become allies. - Mai is, so far, not a damsel in distress! She comes from the Kiva school of Rider support heroines -- tough and headstrong. We had great world building, interesting character development, legitimately funny comedy bits, likeable leads, deepening mysteries, badass action, and weird-as-hell special effects... what more could one ask for from a second episode? So far, Gaim is doing everything right. |
Yeah, I really like that so far, Mai is not putting herself in harms way. She doesn't actively seek out danger. She obviously wants to investigate Yuuya's disappearance, but isn't going crazy and stealing the focus from Kota.
|
Ok, I'm loving this show so far, hope they can keep this up for the rest of the year, very inventive ways to use the weapons, like the orange head. His Rider kick is beautiful, and all the fruit puns makes me think that Sentai is writing the show :lol MORE GAIM PLEASE!!
|
I just love Kota. He's fun to watch. That eyebrow thing...

The whole scene with Kouta doing different henshin poses reminds me of Peter Parker when he was trying to shoot the webs from the first Spider-Man movie
|
Which never made sense to me. Because why would he only shoot web when he did that specific hand pose and not anything else? I didn't know mutations were so picky about how they work.

Seems like a really contrived explanation for the hand gesture when none was needed. |

Like I said, it was basically a silly, unecessary "explanation" for why he pulls off the spidey devilhorns thing (really any depression of the palm should work, including his thumbs-up. Heck, one of the hand moves he tries is actually the same devilhorns pose, just flipped over, but it doesn't work) instead of the far more logical "it's just how he likes to do it, there's no need to force an explanation" like how they did in Amazing. It was always one of many things that bugged me about the original Spidering-boy movie. |
I liked the first episode of Gaim already but this one knocks it out of the park for me. Yeah it was pretty generic in terms of story progression and Pine Arms is pretty fugly when it moves but damn I really like how the charackters are developing.
Kouta is pretty much what I would be if I had magic fruit padlocks that would let me transform into a samurai orange. I really dig how the term henshin is invented by him and not just something he is obligated to say cause every rider before him did it. He pretty much gives me flashbacks of Godai who also was really passionate about being a hero. I also really like Kaito so far. My biggest fear was that we get another Kaixa with his charackter but so far this does not seem to be the case. Yes he is still kind of a jerk to Kouta and he will fight him more than probably necessary but at least he feals like someone who can justify this kind of behaviour. |
The characters are pretty great, I really do like them. With other series it did take time to warm up to them, but here I get them immediately. Also welcome to the forum!
|
The only character in the show so far who seems pretty boring is the kid who becomes Ryugen. He had one line or so in all of two episodes :lol
|
And with episode 2 I'm all aboard :lol.
|
I was FINALLY able to see this. Henshin Fever is really letting the side down.
But I absolutely loved it. Pine Arms was hillarious, especially since the Final Kick makes the enemy into a Pineapple Ring :lol But the best part of this episode was him trying different Henshin poses and that stupid grin :lol |
