I love the pirate ship and the submarine, but, the rest are just meh. Cool attractive robo though!
|
Glad I bought this and didn't wait for the Super Megaforce version. This is one of my favorite mechs that I own!!!
|
Do want!
|
I've always liked mecha, and have owned a couple in the past (Geki Touja, US Shinkenoh, Legacy Megazord). However, they never seem to stay in my collection. The lack or articulation really makes mecha the most dispensable part of my collection.
I've toyed around with the idea of getting one. Galleon looks super awesome in all of the photos, but in the best interest of my wallet it's best I stay away. |
Awesome gallery as always. I'm going to have to revisit this gallery as reference when I'm adding paint to the Legendary megazord. Too bad I have to wait till the gift giving holiday and my birthday are over to start spending for myself again.
|
I'm fairly certain that, even though it won't really stand up to Gokai-Oh, I'm going to enjoy the Legendary Megazord. I can't get enough of Zord Builder, and in any case I do already have the kick-ass MiniPla.
|
I'm having a hard time deciding between this and the Legendary Megazord... It's a PIRATE THEMED MECH, so it's a no-brainer that basically boils down to accuracy vs. accessibility. If BoA releases a version of GoZyuJin though, I made have to cave for the domestic release.
|
Ever since I first saw it I have loved Gokai Oh. The Gokai Galleon itself is just awesome, though I'll admit none of the other Gokai Machines make sense for the pirate theme...
But the Galleon, man. Every part that thing contributes is perfect to me. From the badass ship itself to the classic pirate head with braided hair and cutlasses. But damn if the door gimmick doesn't hurt it a little every time I see it without an auxiliary mecha used. Just a reminder of how incredibly hollow it looks (and bad) and how simple Gokai Oh really is when it comes to the arms. But I love pirates and still can't help but love this robot. Not enough to ever get another DX mech, granted... but despite complaints against it I've still considered the SRC version many times.. |
One of my favorite Sentai mecha designs. Never did get around to getting it, but I had it preordered for the longest time. Funds didn't work out so I had to cancel before it was released. Really cool gimmick, a great way to celebrate the mechas of Sentai past.
Not super fond of the American release of it. I just never got into the zord builder stuff and the pegs all over the individual mecha look awful. Still, awesome design. The freaking galleon is beautiful, one of the best individual mechs they've done IMO. |
GokaiOh is my first Megazord and I am still loving it. The gimmick may not be that great, but it's worth buying on the aesthetic alone. I may get the BoA version for my son so he can enjoy the toy as well.
|
First: Good luck to everyone in the Toku ToyBox contest, and thank you for making us what we are this year.
Second: I like the American Version better. I like having the ZordBuilder attachments instead of opening panels, and I like the customization options. Not that Gokai-Oh isn't good looking, I just like the BoA version. |
I've heard a lot of people say there's issues with the gimmick not working correctly, especially with other mecha inside? Can anyone elaborate on that.
My only complaints about this thing are the fact that Jet and Racer don't have a similar sticker like Marine and Trailer do, and that stupid visible hand on Racer. Could someone take a top down view shot of it? Thanks! |

I think that's part of the reason why I haven't bought it. It seems kinda odd to me to open the doors, jam everything in there and then close the doors just to reopen them for an attack. It makes more sense to go with the Legendary Megazord I think. Dat hand though on Racer. Ugh. |

Also, it's a bit counter-intuitive having to open the doors or everything, put stuff in, and close it. For example, the GaoLion legs need to opened up to get their pegs out, clipped in place, and closed again. It ruins the "surprise" of seeing the Shinkenger Mojikara. Anyway, it's still my favourite mecha by looks alone, but it's not perfect of course. |
Im tempted to start buying mecha, but, buying SHF has already left my wallet in tears :cry
Cannot start collecting these as well, but, it does look good.. might try to get one of these in Christmas |
I've always liked the design if gokai oh on his own, think he looks sweet! He was just let down by mainly crappy extras and too many parts left aside for the bigger cooler combos.
Still, the minipla version is awesome and can really capture the badass-ness of the cgi model from the show, diving around and slashing at stuff. Also, aren't all of the limbs meant to be homages to the last anniversary series, boukenger? Two pink subs, two blue jets, two... Okay a green and black race car, two.. Yellow constructiony vehicles? Not the most solid theory but it seems too similar to be coincidence. |
For some reason the opening limbs is not as appealing to me. Still overall a beauty but i think ill do just fine with the jolly roger.
|
I had it at one point and enjoyed it. I still wish that Gokai-Oh was just a giant transforming galleon. But from a toy sales perspective, i can understand why he had the random limbs that have no pirate association.
|
Everytime I look at this guy and then back at my American version, I sigh and shake my head. If the Japanese version wasn't so expensive, I'd be all over getting it. Shame BoA stopped apparently giving us the import versions after the Samurai/Shinkenger one.

If i owned this mecha i could not resist the urge to put things that does not belong inside the arm/legs/body compartments hehehe
|
I should really get one of these sometime. I already have 2 versions of the minipla which I love, and am planning on getting the BoA version (mainly for Zeo powers) but it would be nice to have the original too.
The SRC can stay the hell away from me though :lol |

Even if I'm not into Sentai, this is still a cool figure. And it helps that pirates are cool.
|
I kinda wonder what size figure could fit inside some of those compartments. It'd be fun to turn the ranger key, open all the ports, and a five strong squad of SIC figures pop out, but i doubt even a crouching one would fit. OH! LEGO MINIFIGS!
Also, I'll be resigned to getting the BOA version of this. Still, I look forward to the mix-n-match with my Shinkenger Zordbuilder and my Legacy Megazord. Should be entertaining. |

I freaking LOVE the chest cannon, it's so badass. I don't really care for the individual zords because they're a little uninspired and I think of Gokai-Oh purely as a giant robot, not a gestalt. Am I weird for thinking that?
|
There's a lot of love for this guy. A pity that he's now expensive as all get out. I would love to own one of these beauts someday. Either an import or that BoA Import that may or may not happen.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the rest of the DX line for Gokaiger mechs. Gorgeous gallery here; fit for a space pirate! |
Speaking of BoA imports, when will we get those Gosei Great imports?
|
Well, I was on the fence about exactly which robot to start with, but these pics of Gokai Oh have pretty much settled it for me. I'm pretty indifferent to the individual components but as a whole, he's awesome as heck. The only thing I wish is that he had the cannon balls for the open compartments like the SRC does.
Sigh. As if one rabbit hole wasn't bad enough. :lol |
This is why I sometimes wonder of BoJ re-releases would be better than the ZordBuilder remakes we get nowadays. Usually the ZordBuilder versions are preferable (at least to me, cross-compatibility is one of my favorite gimmicks) but GokaiOh has one of the coolest action features of any sentai mecha. Hmm...

As a huge Gokaiger fan, I can't really help but adore this thing. I just can't bring myself to drop the cash to get it shipped overseas to me, though.

Always loved Gokai Oh, kind of wished the other mechas besides Gokai Galleon had more screen time and use though
|
It's pretty cool as a mech, but as individual machines it's kinda lacking. Would've turned out a lot better if it was just the galleon.
Granted, I would say that. I like Galaxy Mega, after all. |
I loved this one so much I bought two, one to play with, and the other to keep in box.
