Yup, that wasn't the best choice of words.
Ya know, it's the whole simplifying it making it less expensive babies can chew on it and not die sorta deal from BoA.
But I just don't like it as much.
Actually I guess I can say it's bland because of less of the right colors on the legs and to an extant the arms. So there.

I think ultimately what the BoJ design has going for it better is that it just looks more polished. The Samurai Legendary Megazord might be a clever design but the toy itself doesn't have the heft, detail and stature of the Shinken GokaiOh.

While admittedly real Samuai armour doesn't have shoulder stuff that quite extravagant, the Shogun mode battlizer had some pretty wild shoulders going on and this kinda reminds me of that, which I can really get behind.

Sure it's a hella less accurate, but I just feel Shinken GokaiOh is one of those designs that really didn't translate well to toy form.

Neither did Fujimaru. On the show it was beautiful, then you got the toy and were like... Dahell..

No, no I mean by what definition it is better. Neither DX nor minipla are overall better than the other. They are better in some things.

I like it. It's not good by any stretch of the word, but neither is Shinken GokaiOh.
I much prefer that it doesn't look like 5 boxes with kanji stickered on them and actually going for something that looks relatively decent.

The Shinken GokaiOh is a toy you must have in hand to appreciate. The photos don't do it that much justice.

It doesnt though; it looks far worse. The Smasher doesnt have the hinge, but just look at the compromise to the lion. He has a visible sword sticking out his butt and the helmet, which was hidden well as the tail, is just slapped on top. The lion legs do not look samurai armour, they look like awkward misplaced legs slapped on top of his arms and completely ruin the look. Its not like any effort was made to make them look ornate or armour-like, theyre just stuck there as lion legs with absolurtly no difference from when they were being used as legs.The kanji (and the sword) are just slapped on all over the lion (in the wrong places) which not only ruins the idea that the lion is Wild Force and the ultimate power transforms him into Samurai, but just looks bad. This also sacrifices the diffirentiation between the two modes because instead of having the black and colored lines over the lion parts, the Shinken mode just looks like lion pieces are stuck all over him. The change to the lions mane to Shinken gokaioh is also dropped (althogh the pics in the OP havent done it) which, while minor, also made Shinken more seperate from just being Gokaioh with lion parts in him.

I get that the bigger sword is a plus and I can sort of see why people would like a smaller, less bulky and samurai look to the arms and legs and some people dont like the doors (although I think just how bothered people are by them is getting exaggerated a bit since the SMF line appeared) and compromises are to be expected, but does the Red Lion look better then Gaolion? Not by any stretch of the imagination.

People are going to have their separate opinions.I personally love the BoA one better.I'm by no means saying the BoJ one is horrible,just worse.The Lion head on it blocks half the face when the American version has a clear line of sight to the face and makes good use of space for the head to still be a prominent piece.The shoulders may not look like armor to some,but to me they do.At least more so then the BoJ one.The japan version doesn't look like armor,it looks like cabinets that some kid forgot to take his Shinkenger toys out of.The same goes for the legs.And of course we can agree the Rekka is better in the Megazord mode.Sure it take up most of the lion mode,but they also added an assault mode to the lion mode to make up for it.People tend to leave that part out.

I'm the first person to be critical of BOA releases but I can appreciate what they've done with the Super Megaforce line. Lots of cool stuff, I even plan to buy Red Lion. But that still doesn't make this thing better than the original Gao Lion. The original is much larger, has an accurate transformation, electronics, and makes a nicer bulkier robot. The swords bigger sure, but at the cost of the entire lion mode. There are pros and cons.

Im glad to see the ZB system is off the charts with this one. LOL at gosei Pegasus mode. Can you imagine MMPR 2010 with gao lion..that would be cool. I love seeing the limb stwiching stuff too. Keep it coming raz! The Lion assault mode looks grand too. Im defiantly picking this guy up with the other aux zords. Thanks a again RAZ.

No one is disputing whether this is more accurate, because we all know that would downright false. "Better" on the other hand is completely subjective.

The Shinkenger symbols being visible does bother me as do how the upper arms attach but otherwise it's not bad and I can see myself picking it up.

While the combined form doesn't look very good, I must say that's a cool looking Lion.

I'm not saying the BoA release is more accurate,I'm just saying personally,it looks and feels better.I for one love samurai,I enjoy the whole culture surrounding it and if I had to pick which one look closer to the actual samurai image,then yeah BoA is better.BoJ is more show accurate but is that always a good thing?

I think this lion looks better than Gaolion in my opinion, I like the fire smasher BOA style more than BOJ and if Gokaioh(BOJ) can hold it that wildforce lion will be mine.
