Maybe each monster is indestructable unless the team uses an specific melody that resonates with it, then they proceed to beat em down classic style with the music in the background?

I wouldn't mind a cowboy one for the suits and martial arts,but what about the mecha?

That is the main reason that I think sentai sticks with the same ideas.The mecha need to be compatible.I could see cowboys being a great rider series,but thats about it.

I for one don't mind a good animal motif when done right,and we haven't had one in a while.(And I mean pure animal,not dino or car/animal hybrid)

You place too much emphasis on the mecha, despite the mecha holding little relevance in relation to themes.

The problem with kyoryu is that it only remembered it was a music sentai in ocassion, but when they used it, I loved it.

Yeah, they could easily just be a bunch of animals likened to that period/location. Horses, buffalo, uh... prairie dogs? There's probably more. :lol

The problem with that is it's so situational it's difficult to use well. A sea based Sentai would probably go the way of Kyoryu's music/dance theme and just be sporadically brought up.

Hell, the military/technology themed Ohranger used a sphinx as a main component. After that, I'm pretty damn skippy anything is fair game now.

It may have been done already, but I'd actually like to see another time travel Sentai.

Not really a theme, per se, but I want to see a Sentai with honest to goodness superpowers.

I'm down with that. Perhaps this time there could be more exploration involved?

Everytime "time travel" comes up as a motif across various franshises it seems like the protagonists end up going back in time only to stay there for the whole series... as though it might as well not even be a motif.

I dunno. I don't think Japan has very many interesting time periods past what their Edo set provides.
Unless the characters travel the world, too, which would be both interesting and confusing :lol

How cool would it be for a Ranger team to have the powers of The Wolfman, Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, The Creature From the Black Lagoon and The Mummy? Just imagine the mecha!

And on the castles and Knights theme brought up, I think that'd be awesome and I do agree you can have knights without heavy Rider-style armor and history has shown many a knight (or other similar warrior classes) has worn light armor.

I'd love to see a team based around certain mythologies.Norse,Greek,etc. Can you picture a Norse Mythology.Their home base is Valhalla. The sixth ranger is based off Thor,the leader/commander is based off Odin.

Norse also has a lot of cool animals for mecha, like Sleipnir, the 8 legged horse, or Hraesvelgr, the corpse swallower.

Plus it'd be nice to have a religious bent sentai, that sticks to its guns. The Goseiger's are only angels in name, and the only reason I get annoyed by the cheap religion trimming in Japanese media is most religious texts are fantastic stories. Too good to be used only in imagery.

Whether you believe in them or not, they are pretty much the first comic books, full of monsters, and super powers and crazy mythologies if you went ahead and just did a straight adaptation of any of the religious texts and put some pretty Japanese men and women in spandex I'm about 1000 percent certain it'll work beautifully.

The problem is that Japan is only interested in what things look like rather than the purpose for them. It's abundant if you were a big anime fan in the 90's/early 00's and the overabundance of religious symbols that meant nothing other than "That looks kinda cool" were everywhere.

If they made a Sentai based on Norse mythology and actually did more than just naming characters "Thor" and "Odin", sticking to their guns, it could be really cool.

Though I am rather curious how they'd execute it. Like, the heroes would gain power from the mythological characters, or would Thor just jump down from Asgard and rather than join the Avengers he decided he wanted to be a Power Ranger instead :p

How I'd do it, is I'd have a set of six mythical items each relating to a Norse God, so like Thor's Hammer, Gjallarhorn, BrÃ*singamen etc etc and then when they wield them, they can tap into their specific god's powers and transform into their Ranger forms which are shaped around their specific God's appearance.

Gaining powers from mythological creatures sounds like Magiranger and their heavenly sainy concept.

A Norse Sentai does sound like a good idea. Plenty to work with with stories and merchandise/designs. Same goes for Greek.

Along those lines, how about another Chinese mythos based show?

If it gives us another Mech like Ryuusei-Oh? Hell Yes.

I think the religious talk stems to religions that people might be sensitive about, and not stuff like Greek or Norse :lol
