My thoughts exactly. |
Watched and enjoyed. Seeing Gokaiger footage as Power Rangers is still something completely surreal to me (I don't understand why moreso than anything else), but most of my complaints were minor ones.
Sure they didn't do the SPD or Ninja Storm calls, but it's not like it was a case of outright ignoring every single morph call there's ever been. I took the fact the Samurai and Mystic Force ones were there as a very good sign for the future. The new villain voices are fine. Vekar didn't really get a whole lot of time to strut his stuff, but it felt more regal and less brat like Warz Gil is. Insarn (completely missed what her name actually is) seems to be the runaway winner there though. The sudden change in fighting in prowess is a little on the strange side (well, in the guy's case anyway), but in a show that's going to constantly have the characters readapting to whatever powers they're using it really isn't going to bug me until they draw a lot more attention to it. So yeah, happy with what we got and am looking forward to more. |

Can I get the link PMed to me also!

Man, this episode was more enjoyable then I thought I'm pleasantly surprised by that.
Sure, the cringe worthy dialogue and bad acting are back but I loved seeing how they used the Gokaiger footage, they did a better job of making it feel like an invasion. And I'm still having trouble envisioning the stoic Troy as the bad ass Marvellous…same with Blue. |

In fact…I couldn't distinguish him from the Ex Borgs they were fighting. |

Was I the only one who lost it when they said, "Magical Source, Mystic Force!"?

FINALLY uploaded on Youtube.
Maybe it's because I've had months of having all my hopes and dreams crushed, and it's reduced my standards or something, but I actually really really enjoyed that episode. They really handled the changeover from Goseiger to Gokaiger really well in my opinion. Plus the new powers, they actually felt like a big deal, it was FUN. I missed that. Minus Noah, who doesn't work for all the same reasons as he didn't work in Megaforce, I think the cast matched up well. Honestly I think this cast works better with Gokaiger footage than they did Goseiger, honestly. Maybe if I was a Gokaiger fan I wouldn't think so, but I'd had them telling me that this wouldn't work at all for a year and at least in terms of this episode, I can say they were wrong! It was also like...really violent...like way more violent than I expected. I know there was no strawberry jam on their faces, but there were a lot of buildings exploding, at least one shot of a person being blown up, quite a few more shots of the Xborgs throwing people on the ground and quite a few scenes of crowds of people running, screaming and being shot at by the Xborgs. I dunno how they're getting away with this but I LIKE IT. What an epic invasion and what an epic way to start the series. About the only thing I don't like was that it was all wrapped up in one episode. Why couldn't they have been on the ropes for the whole season? Does that mean after this episode they're gonna go back to eating smoothies and doing maths while an alien army hangs about in the sky? That is stupid. |

Yeah, they really need to fix their sound effects as the show was down right terrible in that department when it should not be. Again, if there is one thing these shows should not have, it is bad sound effects.

I dunno, maybe it's because I'm a perpetual manchild, but the ADR never bothered me that much this episode. During some of the more serious scenes in Megaforce, the dialogue and delivery was atrocious and I'll give you that, but I also think Megaforce was the worst Power Rangers show ever made.
But during episodes like this, where they're just exploring new powers and showing them off, exclamations of how awesome it all is are just really fun to me. Seeing heroes enjoy their powers is a surprisingly rare thing in this genre and it's much easier to get behind it all. Why should I care about your powers if YOU don't? Is a question I find myself asking in a LOT of toku shows, but that is one question I wasn't asking Super Megaforce. |

I am not pleased in the slightest. |
They're actually skipping tribute episodes? Why? Surely with twenty episodes, they can dedicate one show to each season?
|
I doubt they skipped it. They most likely just swapped the order of them.

And if I'm wrong and the Mystic Dragon still appears in the show, then I'll be pretty darn happy. |
BTW, when is Tommy supposed to show up? With all of the pictures that were going around last summer you would think it would be quite soon.

Then again, there are at least four episodes before that which we know nothing about. And for all we know, he could appear when Orion shows up and gets the "Q-Rex Megazord". And on a side note, I saw that there's one episode called "The Perfect Storm" which isn't about the Ninja Storm tribute, from what I'm reading. But then again, they might surprise us. |

Goseiger's legion of haters aside, it was a show with wonderfully epic, and stylish action. Even at its worst moments, Goseiger was worth watching just for the fighting and as as that is all that is going across for the adaptation that is exactly what Saban needed. And yet they still just turned it into a badly dubbed clip show, when it was so ripe to have an epic story built around it that would better celebrate the history of the franchise, than whatever the fuck Megaforce was. |

It's better than it sounds, trust me. :lol Edit: Here it is. Here it is. |

But with the news that they apparently skipped Magiranger and totally ignored the Dino Thunder and MMPR contributions when naming Orion's zord, I fear this is gonna go down hill really fast. |

2. Episode that was originally the Dekaranger/SPD tribute. (Pat Striker) 3. Gokai Blue spotlight with the five swords battle. 4. Originally a Gaoranger/Wild Force tribute. (Gao Lion) 5. Then Shinkenger/Samurai. (Shinken Gokaioh) 6. Then Gekiranger/Jungle Fury. 7-8. Two parter introducing the Silver Ranger. (Gozyujin) 9. Episode introducing Gokai Silver Gold mode. 10. Apparently an original plot about Tensou. 11. Originally a Carranger/Turbo tribute. 12. Abaranger/Dino Thunder episode. (Gozyu Gokaioh) 13. The Green/Yellow body switch, now Green/Blue 14. Then Go-Onger/RPM. (Machalcon) 15. Final Battle of Warz Gill/Vekar (Kanzen Gokaioh) 16-19. The next 4 are unrevealed. (Possibly will incorporate Brajira/Vrak final battle from Goseiger) 20. Final episode -Hasn't been revealed, but I think its a safe bet there'll be a Halloween and a Christmas clip show. I think instead of adapting the Magiranger episode (Episode 3 of Gokaiger), Gosei will tell them the Mystic Dragon is a new power in Episode 3 of Super Megaforce as Magi Gokaioh was used in the episode that Episode 3 is adapting. Interestingly enough, the only Yellow spotlight episode being adapted has swapped her to Blue. Come to think of it, has Gia ever had a spotlight episode? There's also no Red spotlights being adapted. Every Basco episode has also been cut unless somehow he's in the Silver Ranger two parter. The Ninja Storm episode has been cut, so Fuuraimaru/Mini Zord will likely be treated as a new thing in Super Megaforce Episode 13, probably because the Hurricaneger two-parter wasn't very adaption friendly, with a lot of Japanese culture jokes and unmorphed scenes/fights with the Hurricanegers. Power Rangers seasons that had sentai-equivalent tributes in Gokaiger that aren't being adapted include Zeo, In Space, Lost Galaxy, Lightspeed Rescue, Time Force, Ninja Storm, Mystic Force and Operation Overdrive. Also looks like only two of my six favorite episodes are being adapted (The Carranger and Body Switch episodes) and both's plot lines are being heavily altered. |

Now THAT'S more like it!
Loved the transition from Goseiger to Gokaiger (absolutely seemless) with a good bit of explanation about how things were going to work such as the Zombats being replaced with a weapon on the Armada's flagship, Vrak and (not) Warz Gill being brothers and the explanation (or lack there of) of why Jake is now Green. I like to imagine that the reason he was flubbing around so much in the fight was because he was adjusting to the switch, after all he's the only one to show difficultly with the new powers and the only one who switched color. As for the story in the episode... DAMN THIS WAS INTENSE! Honestly, this episode had me at the edge of my seat from start to finish. From the opening to the introduction of the villains and even the Ranger and Zord Fights. I was shocked that they actually showed the school and the juice bar in ruins, kudos there writers. The Megaforce Rangers aren't the Gokaigers but I don't expect them to be, they're their own team with their own dynamic. I honestly got goose bumps when they turned into Mystic Force and shouted "Magical Source, Mystic Force!" The only let down for me was that I was expected Troy to walk into the Command Center carrying an injured Robo Knight on his shoulder... but considering that I never finished Megaforce that might not make sense as it's implied that Robo Knight disappeared after the armada's arrival. That and the fact that it's pretty obvious that they edited Overdrive Red into the shot of the monster blowing up during the all red morph. Though considering which red ranger was originally there I understand why they did it. I loved Gokaiger and I've rewatched several episodes of it, one of which being the pilot, so I've seen these scenes several times over. However Super Megaforce made it as if I was watching it for the first time with the same excitement and enthusiasm. If the rest of this season is as good as this first episode well I think this will be a pretty good year for the franchise. |
I think the whole "Why is my key green and not black?" thing is going to be the new "How does your snout fit in your helmet?" :lol
