Mai dancing is not important! It isn't going to fix everything going on right now! So go sit in a corner, take a chill pill, and hush.
Well that was another great episode. All I have else to say is poor Jounouchi :lol |
Wow this episode was weird. dancing.....I really could do without it. Though I think this episode might just be the end of it. Still, even with the dancing, there was enough small things that moved the plot forward so that this wasn't completely filler.
I think this episode was a sendoff to the beat rider subplot. I don't think it'll go anywhere after this, other than Zack using his new belt to help defend beat rider's as Baron's new leader or something. I really like Kamen Rider Knuckle's design and henshin pose, but I wish his fight scenes were cooler. Maybe they'll get better in time if he shows up more, since Zack's just learning to use his powers. Hopefully he gets more to do than just defend Team Baron occasionally. On the other hand, Gaim's fight scenes were pretty awesome ,especially at the beginning of the episode. I do like how Kaito's attitude towards the dancing is the same as most of ours, being: Yeah, this dancing shit's over with. We should focus on the real plot. Which...is what they seem to be doing in the next episode. I was gonna complain about DJ Sagara talking about the beat riders again, when Duke had mentioned that part of his job is over but I'm glad they had that scene with Takatora wondering what the hell he was doing as well. The preview for next ep makes it seem like he's gonna go behind Yggdrassil's back even more. So yeah. Knuckle looks cool hope he gets better fights next time. Oren is hilarious as always. Hopefully this really IS the end of the dancing and I wish I could see next week's episode now... |
Tis episode was acually pretty good. I like of how every episode isn't completely filler.
I liked Knuckles introduction and it was just cool. Seeing Kaito leave Team Baron was a bit of a shocker, but maybe he'll steal more "blank" belts so there can be an army of Knuckles:) Now the previews for next week look good, probably won't see what Micchy saw a couple episodes back but still. Now I really want my Sengoku Driver to come in. >_< |
The Dancing has always been a bit of a miss for me, and I do hope it'll be over for now, especially since things look like they're picking up.
Knuckle definitely seems much more competent compared to Kurokage and Gridon, so I hope he gets the better end of the deal compared to being either killed or turned into a Butt Monkey. Kouta seems to get the short-end of the stick, since it looks like he's facing off against not only Duke, but Sigurd and Zangetsu-Shin next week. Also, Sagara looks like he has something up his sleeve. |
Jounochi
Did anyone else notice that Jounochi hesitated then started dancing? I'm hoping he might break away from Oren and possibly try to avenge Hase!

This episode was weird for me, so far Gaim has been a show I have appreciated much more in terms of narrative than I ever have visually. But this was probably the first episode which was almost the complete opposite.
Because, in terms of narrative, this episode was almost entirely pointless. You don't need to tell us, 18 episodes in, that the dancing aspect of this show is pointless. We knew that from the very start. Although man that all girl in white team, lovely. But ironically, for maybe the first time in this show, it had some genuinely brilliant action. From seeing the Inves dancing, to Pine arms finally getting used again, it was great. If it wasn't for Beat Rider Knuckle this'd probably be the first episode that achieved nothing for either the plot or the characters. It's lucky then that that first outing with Knuckle was amazing - from his stylish superpowered boxing to the high energy fight with Baron at his side. A blend of Bravo, Gridon and Kurokage? Who knew the footsoldier driver could cause such fascinating results? Is he getting an AC? It's the first one I've been interested in for a while. |
This episode was...well I'll put it bluntly, I've never fast forwarded through an episode of Gaim until today. Don't get me wrong I know some people like the dancing aspect of it and it was an interesting way to progress into the deeper plot points but after everything that's happened in the show it's just been overshadowed to the point that I don't really need to or want to see that much of it.
That's not to say the episode was bad, on the contrary it was a good intro for Knuckles and the brief appearance of Duke, and the fights were done well too. Though I think this episode may be a sort of tribute/farewell to the dance aspect of the show, they did it to clear the Beat Rider's names in the city and now the real fight is beginning, this was a big finale to show off the dance teams all at once before they pretty much disappear from the show. Overall not bad, but next week's looks like it'll be more of what Gaim delivers on best. |

I actually cared about the dancing. Before, I was apathetic towards it, but this episode got me to care about it in a positive way.
Also, Kaito is awesome. I just wanted to let you know. |

If that opening scene is even anything to do with these characters, that is. As theories on what Micchy saw has thrown all kinds of ideas around, including alternative dimensions and time travel. And as far as I'm aware there are no conformations anywhere as to what that scene relates to yet, right?

Urobutchi specifically said it's a possible future. Not necessarily the future that's going to happen. He admits the show will generally move towards that scene but that the players and setting will change. Which is what I'm saying. As far as the actual footage is concerned it is what it is. But we have no idea how much of that scenario will be intact by the end of the series.

Also, did anyone else notice that Gaim's reflection in the sponsor message is different? https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-v...Comparison.jpg |
Not the reflection thing again!

I think I got whip-lash from this episodes shift in tone from say, the last 17 episodes.
I mean, not every episode has been full on super serious, but this entire episode just seemed, well, silly (and not in a good way). "Hey guys, the whole city hates us so let's put on a dance show to make them like us!" Also, count me in with those that think that Bravo will be on his way out soon. That's two weeks in a row now that Gaim has completely stomped him. I would rather see him die than continue to degrade further into a slapstick charicature of his former bad-ass self. |
A light hearted episode like t his was after what a barrage we've gotten in the last few episodes.
Seeing the dance teams come together and overcoming Bravo's sabotage was pretty inspiring too. If this really is the last the show will touch upon the whole Beat Rider things I think it was a very nice end cap on it. Oh and Bravo stabbing himself with his own sword was the perfect Karma slap. |

Also yeah I hate how Bravo has become a backup villain for when the show doesn't want to actually advance the plot or the characters. |

The only thing I thought that was odd about the dance show was how we still heard the fighting going on in the background at one point. I know I'm probably not the only one that wanted to see more from the fight then the actual dancing. :lol

I don't think the dancing itself won people over, but rather the events captured by the DJ. That's why Takatora was mad, he was broadcasting circumstances that clearly favoured the beat riders.

I mean, that's really it, isn't it? The people of Zawame are sheep. They've fallen for this city's ploys hook line and sinker. Even the beat riders. The invess games and dance stages were set up by Yggdrasil, and nobody thought much of it. |

I liked this one. It didn't feel as huge and important as some of the recent episodes, but it was still enjoyable and had some good moments (loved the bit with Oren and Junouchi on the stairs). I hope this is the end of the dance team stuff as a major plot device, though. Not because it's dumb and pointless now (although it is), but because this feels like a good way to wrap up that plot thread. The teams are united, the city has stopped blaming them, and things seem to be in a good place for them overall. I don't really think there's any way the show can top this or anything they need to do to build off of it. I hope the dancing stuff just fades into the background after this.
On a totally different note, I freaking love Knuckle. Everything about that design just clicks for me perfectly, even the boxing gloves. |

... Ok, I was wrong. Hm...maybe the last one meant something? I really don't know. The new one just looks like an effect of the ripples. |
Maybe so many people mistook what was clearly just a distortion of his existing helmet for a new one, they decided to redo the shot and just have him move his head more? (Or, because it was never intended to be any kind of forshadowing, and it's just a result of them reshooting to have lockseeds instead of locks)
Needless to say, I have never felt more vindicated from a half second of minor movement. I knew it wasn't a new armour, it was just the rippley floor, and this proved it. No forshadowing, no meaning. Just a trick of the light exposed for what it is so they could show lock seeds instead of locks. |

1). Gaim doesn't move his head at all. 2). Why bother to reshoot the scene in the first place? |
I think it is funny, that Baron when from having an acorn and a Pinecone as followers. To now... a Wall-nut. Does anybody see the weird phallisism?

Not a bad episode but in a way it does feel closer to filler than anything we've had from the season to date. Knuckle had a solid introduction and he's made for a pretty cool rider from what we did see of him, and it was nice seeing him fight alongside Baron.
I do hope this was a sendoff to the beat rider plotline, and if it is indeed one then I feel it was a good way to go about doing so. I was always somewhat..hesitant on the whole street dancing concept for the show, but it was at least done in a way that wasn't really obtrusive and managed to work well enough, and at times was somewhat enjoyable. For instance I loved the all girl dance troupe we saw in white, with those nice short shorts...*cough*. But yeah, it's time to see this aspect of the show off so we can, as Kaito says, focus on what really matters. I'm of two minds on what Bravo has become. He's really seeming to suffer from some serious Flanderization. When he was introduced, yeah he was over the top, yeah he was flamboyant, he had speech bubbles and all that, but he was also a serious threat, he was BADASS, and in a way that really just pulled all of that together in such a way that just freaking worked. But now he's becoming less and less threatening, they're pushing the humorous aspects of him more and more without having that serious, hardened military badass behind it to help prop it up and it's making him seem more like a parody of himself. The humor is still funny, for the most part, but while his incredibly flamboyant first henshin led to a seriously scary opponent that just wrecked shit up, he's just...comic relief when he should be this dangerous agent for Yggdrasil, with all of his training he should be given the tools to actually take out the beat riders. If his power is no longer able to stand up to Gaim's, freaking give him an upgrade or something, poor guy has had just the one lock seed from the get go, and while I LOVE durian arms I also love the character too much to watch him become what he looks to be turning into. I rather they not kill him off, but that may be a better fate. Again I do like the humor he brings, I still think him swooning over Zangetsu was one of the funniest things I've ever seen in a toku show, but they gotta balance it out. |
Great episode. I don't even care for the Beat Riders that much but this was epic. Really got the sense of their passion.
Jonouchi is such a spineless coward. Quote:
Anyhow, Bravo's not completely hopeless like most Toku villains become at this stage. No Rider can best him except the Energy Riders and Gaim in his Jinba form. He's still an exceptionally tough opponent. |

Well, I do now. |
New predictions:
- Bravo eventually redeems himself to save Kouta and Kaito in a future episode, and dies by the hands of Sid, a good guy in the end As for this ep, it was total filler and I LOVED it! This is how you should do a filler episode. It moved the background stories that you really care about (Kaito is now a Sentai 6th Ranger :lol) and got the audience (you) pumped up about the secondary characters again. Plus it finally looked to curb that whole "WE HATE THE DANCERS" subplot that wasn't working. |

Yeah, I wonder where Oren's gonna go from here too. It seems like he may have lost his lackey in Gridon...maybe? I can't really tell yet. At any rate, I do hope he becomes something of a threat again.
Also though, I do wonder if Kota's gonna tell Kurokage's team about his death. They were kinda pricks to him though, but maybe they'd still care. |
