Power Rangers Super Megaforce just feels like a kick in the balls for me. You'd figure Saban would reward the fans, not insult them. |

So refreshing. Okay. Saccharin gushing over. I think the fact I want to see episode two out of morbid curiousity shows exactly why Saban and co can get away with things like this. I've said it before, but there's just no excuse for the way everyone involved in pr are acting. Time to watch some SS, KR or Garo? I think so. |
... Was I dreaming, or was most of this episode American footage? And gloriously action-packed American footage, too.
I also really want an SRC GokaiOh, now. |
Geeze Troy if you like RObo Knight so much why don't you marry him?
All I could think about was the educational video from Futurama; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtqGTn7PCBw |
I agree with everything said in this thread.
This includes this smigma-fest being slightly better than the last. Somehow... Here is hoping it gets better? Or... somehow forces Bandai to revoke the licencing agreement with Saban before Dino Charge can come out? Here is hoping. |
I wish see navi in prsmf

I missed it, what did they call the spd-jolly roger megazord combo?

I guess I'm the only one that thinks the Dairanger inclusion and shoddy explanation was completely awful, but otherwise the episode was okay?

Did anyone catch this in the intro? Legendary MMPR Yellow has a skirt!

So finally finished this episode in whole and maaaan…where do I begin?
Might as well talk about the positives…I did get a good chuckle out of that mascot scene and I liked seeing the original footage there's something very surreal about watching Goseigers fighting the Gormim Soldiers. This series is also doing a much better job of conveying the fact that they are with war and that this is an invasion I liked that bit of continuity in that they actually showed that much of the city is still in rubble/under repair from the last attack. Just that nice little touch makes the Invasion Fleet seem like a much bigger deal then the Zangyaku. So with the positives out of the way let's get into my negatives. The big thing that caught my attention this episode was just how oddly edited this whole thing was specifically during the fight scene. There are these brief pauses and jump cuts that makes it obvious to where they spliced in footage together. Then we have the fights themselves. I won't go over the whole Dairanger thing because that's been a hot topic this week and discussed to death what I do wanna bring up though is the fact that the rangers sure took their sweet time in actually helping Troy. They were in a hurry so why waste time trying to fight the EX Borgs out of suit? And for that matter…why not transform straight into Super Mega if they know their regular suits aren't strong enough to fend them off? And the fact that the monster thought they actually managed to capture the Red Ranger…I'm sorry but am I missing something here? He was doing fine in a previous fight scene, so I'm not sure where that came from. Speaking of the suits…I'm still having trouble getting use to the whole Ranger Inception thing. It gets odd when I think that they're wearing three layers of suits plus their street clothing. Let's talk about the SPD Runner now…because not having the episode be an SPD Tribute and having the car zord come from out of freakin no where makes it seem like less of a big deal then it already was. There's also the fact they kept the part where The Gokaigers looked at Doogie Kruger in the Japanese episode so that was kind of odd that they would look away without any good reason like that. Then there's the fact that they decided to attack the armada directly, where they spliced in the first Zord battle from episode 1. That was…again: Odd and out of freaking nowhere. And that pretty much sums this episode up: a lot of stuff that just comes out of nowhere. It feels like five different people had a bajillion different ideas for the episode and each added their own thing while the other guy wasn't looking. I know Gosei gave explanation for the new powers but that didn't amount to anything. It's more of Gosei being a prick and choosing to give the powers to the Team whenever he bloody feels like it. I know it might seem like I'm being a negative nancy but truthfully I did enjoy the episode even with all those grievances I posted about above. Fortunately, Gokaiger footage is still a blast to watch through even if the never ending quips and cheesy one liners makes it god awful. and I stand by what I said in my earlier post: Troy really should just marry Robo Knight. |
I enjoyed it. It has its own story and that's what I enjoy about it. The Dairanger stuff was okay, I'd of changed it and put in another team like Time Force.

I don't know what it is, perhaps hope talking, but I thought that episode was excellent. Good use of the Gokaiger footage, nice action and acting, the ADR wasn't terrible throughout the episode. Only the humor was a bit much. It was more or less extra cheese on a cheese pizza.

Actually, rewatching that scene, the VA all go "Woooooooooah" as they turn right and then go "Hunh?" when the villain starts talking again. Saban... What? |

I actually though this episode was pretty good. Unfortunately, it kind of feels like the morphed fights have nothing going for them. It's kind of like they build up a story (or try to) during the unmorphed scenes, then the script calls for 12 minutes of fighting (so put in Gokaiger footage), and then go back to a story in the unmorphed scenes. Kind of separates it and makes it feel like two separate shows.
For Power Rangers, and for what my expectation is (not that great), it fit the expectation. If you're a Power Rangers fan you'll enjoy the episode. If you're not a Power Rangers fan and you're overly negative about cringe-worthy moments, just skip the entire franchise for a few years until it finds its footing again. |

so they have to replace that with the gosei suit fighting to take up that much time. if it was an actual tribute episode, there would probably be less fighting in gosei suits like in episode 1 because there was alot of gokai footage to use im guessing in the next episode we'll probably see less gosei suit fight footage since they are probably combining episodes 3 and 4 to introduce mystic dragon/magidragon and noah/joe's focus episode since magi gokaioh/legendary mystic force megazord is used to defeat joe's/noah's swordsman monster. |

Vekar is perfect. They can't make him as over-the-top Whiney as Warz, it wouldn't translate. I think the mistake people are making is looking at SMF and comparing it apples to apples with Gokaiger. You can't do that. It was never meant to be that. You have to look at it as a stand-alone product. |
I honestly am starting to think some PR fans are unpleasable when Disney had it people hated them and wished Saban still had it now it's the opposite.

Casting my vote on the Starscream Gaga/KRX side of the debate. I find the VA work to be abysmal.
Edit: It has nothing to do with comparing it to Gokaiger, at least in my case, and everything to do with the fact my ears try to commit suicide whenever anyone opens their mouths. |

But no, regardless of how perfect Warz Gill's VA was in Gokaiger, I don't think Vekar fits at all. Even when he's being "whiny" in Super Megaforce his extremely exaggerated body movements aren't matching his comparatively toned down performance. As a stand alone product, the in-suit movements in EVERY scene, wether it be the Armada or the fights or just the rangers chatting BEFORE a fight, are not matching what we are seeing on screen and that's why I can confidently say the VA work in SMF is lacking. |

I think we're at an impass here. Because I'm not backing down, and I doubt any of you are either. Therefor as mod I win the arguement :lol I kid, I kid

I understand WHY they did it, but it totally feels lazy. If you can't make the episode make sense with the footage you have available, just skip the episode. There was no need to bring in the DaiRanger suits, none at all, but they did it just to be able to use as much footage as possible, and now the fandom is 50/50 about the usage ... basically if you disliked Saban's treatment of the show, you're horribly ticked off ... and if you like their treatment of the show, you're excited they did something different. Either way, it's a conversation that shouldn't be happening in a season billed as a "tribute to all the previous seasons of Power Rangers". |
