Brian Cranston Vs. Godzilla.
I honestly have no idea who would win that fist fight. |

I heard awhile back that Legendary couldn't get the rights for any other previously seen monster aside from, well, Godzilla himself. But I am hoping that they said that to surprise us and that this is our first glimpse at another familiar monster in this movie. It's not likely, but I'd love to see them surprise us with Rodan or really ANY familiar enemy monster. Maybe if this film does well enough, those Gigan and Megalon designs can be put to use in a sequel. And on one more note, while I appreciate the little nod to the original Godzilla, saying that this one was awakened in 1954, I'm just wondering how Japan managed to keep Godzilla under wraps for sixty years. Kinda seems like something that would be hard to hide, let alone contain. |
...If I see any movie in 2014, it shall be this one...

For the first time in my whole 12 year long life, my favorite movie monster has left me completely terrified. And I LOVE IT.

this won't be like jaws where you barely see the shark. also, in the broderick godzilla.. we saw a pretty good amount of godzilla, and they definitely gave you the enemy/victim feeling.. i can't imagine this won't end up having the same feel. i just don't understand how anyone wouldn't be pumped after seeing this trailer. it looks like they've done similar things that the broderick godzilla film did, but better.. and then some. i actually enjoyed the broderick godzilla movie .. for what it was. but this looks a million times better.. and i think the trailer was done VERY well. it gives off that ominous feeling that you should get when you see him for the first time. the sympathy shouldn't develop until we get deep into the movie. but, until then, he should be portrayed as a monster. the shot of the head that we see in the trailer is AWESOME looking. i just wish the spines were larger. |
I understand Civil's point, but like tim said it's a trailer.Even if he was the main focus and the only thing shown in the movie,he's eye candy. They wouldn't show him anyway.
I trust Legendary. They know what they're doing and I do believe that it will be one,if not the biggest movie of the year. Also in the first Godzilla movie,he was a threat. These guys want to show that he is a force of nature, nigh unstoppable. In the trailer you see the Marines shooting up flares. What if they're leading him to one of the other monsters? |

also.. as far as trailers go.. transformers trailers are HEAVY with the actual transformers in them.. but the movies follow the humans. i think they wanted more of a godzilla like quality when it came to the transformers movies.. don't get me wrong, i love watching the movies, but the story doesn't follow the transformers, it follows the humans. that being said, i think this method works WAY better with godzilla.. i think all of you should be excited.. whether it's excited to see it because you know you're going to love it, or you're excited because you're interested to see how it turns out.. either way, you should be excited. i know i am. i think it'd take a lot for me to dislike this movie. like everyone else, i think cranston is fantastic.. he pulls off being very funny perfectly, and can be very believably serious.. so, with an actor like him as an anchor for this movie, i think we're in for a treat. plus.. i generally like most of the movies i see.. hell.. i even liked transformers rotf.. don't get me wrong, there was a lot wrong with it.. but it was still enjoyable to watch. i'd probably be the worst movie critic. |
If the whole movie keeps the tone that the trailer is setting.... oh yes. I can't wait.

I joined this forum because of that trailer (I'm the only person I know whose really into Godzilla). The tone , the references to the original and Bryan "Heisenberg" Cranston, I'm totally there!

There are no existing monsters making a reappearance in this movie, besides Godzilla himself, naturally. At least, that's the case from the context of the glimpses you see in the trailer. We already know a fair few bits about his two new opponents, the Mutos, with even more possibilities gleaned from the script leaks. Should make for interesting fights. The flying one's half-second glimpses alone are tantalizing.
Now, that's not to say we'll never get a classic kaiju to appear in a flashback or post-credits teaser or a (likely) sequel, but in that regard we'll have to wait and see. In nearly three months. |

Newstand version.

That Godzilla looks like he has been lifting. Now we know what he was doing for those 60 years.

This was a good read for me, as someone who isn't that familiar with the franchise. |
