A tree is a tree is a tree. Unless it's a Naruta-tree (Nossan badum-dum). Complete with puppet. Yes. Puppet Narutaki. That is the must have of this year.
http://www.tokunation.com/attachment...1&d=1396296404 Not #3? Nope sorry, even Showa Riders make no sense to the nonsensical. If I put on a mask with some antennae can I call myself Kamen Rider 245? On the plus, we finally get to see the linked sword and DJ Gun version of Kachidoki Arms used. Giant Robot? Where? http://www.tokunation.com/attachment...1&d=1396296215 Get back to work monkeys. |
Dat Kachidoki theme song.

I was pretty much laughing through most of the show.

I hated how Baron was just there "because he was bored." Come ON, the guy's whole character is about fighting and strength, and your justification for his role in this thing is "I was bored?" And what, exactly, was Ryugen's plan that involved flags?
This was a really, REALLY braindead crossover, and it didn't need to be. It was a whole lot of random shit tossed together, which isn't the problem, the problem is there was no thought or reason to it. And that's bad. Very bad. With a little extra effort they could've made an okay crossover great, but they chose not to. Same problem with teh Showa vs. Heisei movie. Why? Why does it exist? What's the problem? The showa riders are assholes because... what? This staggering lack of even the most minimal thought is sucking the fun out of these crossovers. |
Crossovers in general aren't the most thought-intensive, but Baron was clearly there to rescue Mai. He's just too proud to admit it. :p

Wel the best crossover ever and I sorta agree with Locke on the whole Zamame City is where the ToQgers came from. I mean both shows have this tree thing right? So who is not to say that there will be another crossover on this?
Overall this was a really good crossover and I hope the two casts come together again. The bit with Takatora and ToQ-Oh was fun and so was the scene when Kouta and ToQgers transformed for the first time. |

Its not the same city. |
But didn't they draw attention to how big the tree was in the drawing? A detail she added when they arrived at Zawame? Like I say, I doubt anything will come of it, but as a film student we were always taught that 'even the most realistic films still have to include a best of selection of moments' - as in, everything in a film has a purpose, even when it's pretending not to - so on a purely creative level if the drawing truly is pointless - as it most probably is - I just personally found it distracting it was brought up a good four or five times, including being the thing we opened and closed on.
Unless of course the whole point is for the audience to assume this, and it was a red herring all along, which probably would make more sense. |

It wouldnt be possible for her to have memories the others dont have either. As far as we know the ToQGer only remeber things they did together. So there should be atleast one other ToQGer that has the same memories as Kagura. Even if it would be possible for them to regain memories of things they did alone I´m pretty sure the crossover would have made a bigger deal out of it. They focused on the drawing three times to be exact. First was at the beginning to make the transition into Zawame City. Then when Kouta was abourd the Rainbow Line so Right could explain what the Mission of the ToQGer was and then at the very end Rght looked at it one last time remembering Kouta. The Scene of Right is then paralleld with a Scene of Kouta looking at a bunch of Train tracks remembering his new allies. |
You're probably right but I still personally found it extremely distracting.

The more I think about it, the more I realise that Gaim came across HORRIBLY in this crossover.
Kouta, who is like the most loving person alive, came across weirdly selfish and narrow minded. Meanwhile it suggested the plot of Gaim was a badly dressed boy, a selfish narrow minded fool and a grumpy emo kid chase around a girl who is both immensely stupid, and constantly throws herself in danger and needs to be rescued all the time. I PROMISE YOU, Gaim is NOTHING like this shit. |
This was a pretty fun special
With the best parts being the awkward transformation scene in the opening, Takatora not noticing the giant freaking robot behind his office:lol It managed to blend the two shows in a way I thought didn't feel disjointed |
This was actually a pretty great special. On Saturday when everybody was checking out the livestream Twitter was alive with people saying it was awful. But I have to say I thought it was a decently executed prologue to the movie. Aside from a continuity issue or two I was quite satisfied.

Looks like I'm not the only one who thought Bravo would have been gold in this episode.
Really liked this special. I haven't watched any Super Sentai seasons period, but I might check out ToQger. At the very least, the gimmick seems interesting enough. Reminds me of Den-O. And it's funny how depressing the Gaim characters are standing next to the happy-go-lucky ToQgers. Quote:

That was a pleasant surprise. This is what a crossover should be like. Characters from both sides of the crossover teaming up, interacting, and playing off of each other. It's not perfect, I could've done without the movie tie-in bits and Kaito's role really should've been Zack in the current continuity of the show. However, the enjoyment far outweighs any of these problems. My favorite part, by far, is Takatora during the mecha battle. Classic, just perfectly classic. :lol

I usually watch Gaim and Toqger episodes on Drama.net it doesn't look like they have this episode:( and I'm the worst at finding this stuff online.

Hey, wasn't Mai's pass orange? Could it of been ToQ 6's pass?

Aesir just posted "Locomotive Troop ToQGer vs. Power Rider Bastion: April Fools' Day Special." This is not a translation, but a hell of a lot of fun. :lol

Just got around to watching it.
That... sure happened? I guess? Wasn't a fan, really. All of the Gaim characters felt kinda off (especially Kaito being helpful and Mai being... well, present). The ToQGers worked better, but I suspect that's because the writer for this works with Kobayashi a lot. On the whole, everything felt really bland and generic. Loved that bit with Takatora and the window, though. Also, somebody needs to burn Mitchy's sweater. That thing shouldn't exist. |
We watched the ToQGer vs Gaim special today and did Toei not have anyone who actually works on Gaim even write this thing? Kouta was completely out of character. Mai was even more useless than ever. And the villains were crap. THe ToQGers were just, ARGH!!! Annoying is the best way to describe it. I haven't watched ToQ since episode 4, but this made me not want to watch 5 and 6. However, like I said, the whole Gaim thing felt forced and no one seemed to be the way they are on the show. Then there is the whole appearance of Ichigo, NIgo, and V3. They were cool for the whole 30 seconds they appeared, but then the whole, "We don't help Heisei Riders" thing was also completely out of character. Yes, I know this special was meant to be hype up the VS movie, but it made them look like jackasses.
The only thing I can really give praise to was the awesome scene with Zangetsu on the phone as the mech battle was going on outside. That was hilarious but damn, the Yggdrasil building has some of the best sound and shock proofing ever. Everyone in the world should be using those materials. As a cross over, it was bad. As a ToQGer episode, it was bad. As a Gaim episode, it was terrible, the worst Gaim episode ever. The fights were subpar. The characters felt off, especially from the Kamen Rider side, and the fights were not even that good. I hope Toei never does something like this again. |
That was....
Oddly different, and fun. I haven't seen any of Gaim other than this, but I was wondering where the other fruits were; I saw the base three, Mango, Kiwi, and Triumph (fresh Orange?). Makes me want to see more Gaim, but not yet. I'm also intrigued about this 'Fifteen' fellow wandering around. |
