I still find it hilarious that so many people on this forum can't separate out people and objects :lol

The whole point of a translation is to make us understand it like the original audience would have, so leaving half of the translation in Japanese for the "integrity of Japan" or whatever nonsense is so baffling to me, because then it isn't a translation any more.

Everyone rags on TVN but it sounds like TVNs half finished, Japanese grammar, unreadable garbage is exactly what you want because when Overtime and Aesir actually do a proper translation and you all complain about that because...I don't even know, you just want to complain about everything.

To be perfectly honest I love all Overtime, Aesir, and TVN subs right now. I'll take anything over these horrible, horrible HK Subs Super-1 I'm watching. The show is very good, the subs are very bad. lol

Over translation is better than undertranslation IMO. If you over translate the people who don't want Japanese kept in will be happy and the people who don't agree have the ability to change it providing they're soft subs.

Seriously, it takes about 5 minutes AT THE MOST to change it and recode an mkv to have new subs. I'll keep saying every time people moan about a freaking FREE fan sub.

Personally, my preference is cover something new than retread old ground. That being said, the only Kamen Rider series that doesn't have a complete or ongoing translation guying by the sub database is...X? That being said if you want to redo something make in Hibiki because the video quality is apparently very lacking going by the comments in this thread.

Alright, so I've decided that the way I'll release is by DDL, because there is no way I will be able to seed torrents (my crappy computer doesn't let me seed my own torrents).

If anyone would be able to help me out by putting my releases in torrents and seeding, please tell me.

Glad you're doing DDL, best thing to do is stick on 'em on KRDL. I personally think they're much faster than torrents.

So I watched TV-Nihon's, Hibiki 01, and it turns out they did have low-quality raws..

Hopefully, I'll be able to do a better job with Hibiki.

Yeah. But the only reason why they're looking forward to it because the TV nihon rips are bad and they hate thier translations for some reason.

It's pretty blatantly clear people don't want proper nouns to be translated. I fail to see the humor beyond a vague attempt to take the piss out of everyone.

I don't know anything about that confusion so I can't comment. What I will say is that it's not "blatantly clear" other than for a few vocal purists. Overtime, Aesir, MCS they clearly have their place.

The Go-Buster-Oh/King thing was a freak occurrence really. Personally since Sentai uses both "Oh" and "King" in its naming conventions it makes more sense to keep them as it is, but having the two appear in the same series before had never happened before so I can see why O-T thought it would be passable. That, and I asked them at the time why those chose to translate it (since they kept Gokai-Oh as it was the previous year) and they said they said it felt more in line with the other robots in the show, e.g. Ace.

It isn't like with Kachidoki and Zenith where you translate them and there's always the possibility of a Triumphant and Zenith Arms coming somewhere down the line.

(Just to note - I'm firmly in the camp of "nouns shouldn't be translated" preference. I just find the decisions that go into subbing fascinating even if I don't agree them. Makes me wish I was better at languages :( )

Not trying to add fuel to the fire, but I think that Over-Time isn't to blame for this as they didn't have any idea that there was gonna be a Go-Buster King. Now, if they were doing an older show and not a current one, (well, it was current at the time) where it would be known that there was a Go-Buster Oh, then you could blame them.

Yeah, they used some pretty low-res tv rips that looked especially bad with Hibiki's unorthodox cinematography.

Just to be clear, will this be a scrub of the existing TVN script or a totally new translation? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with your work.

It'll be a new translation. What I aim to do is to localize it to the best of my abilities (although it is Hibiki, so we'll see how that goes) while in general being faithful to the Japanese dialogue. What I'll be sure not to do is to structure some sentences in the Japanese way, which would make for some... awkward dialogue ("Your opponent today... is me!).

I'll have both a typeset script and a clean script (like Aesir).

The method of distribution will be DDL (unless someone wants to help me.by making torrents for them and seeding, etc).

I still haven't learned how to hardsub, so it will be softsubbed unless someone teaches me an efficient way to hardsub, in which case there will be a hardsub option and a softsub option.

Mrstone from nyaa is soon finished with his work on Black RX, and he has said if he should do another show depends to his work schedule, he can first start the new show until on november. And it is likely to bound to be another Kamen Rider show like X or Super-1.

Sounds great to me. Hibiki is one of my all-time favorite Rider shows, so I'm excited to see it get some more love. :thumb:

Cool. His subs have some minor grammar issues, but the dialogue is clear and it's neat to see someone else take an interest in the Showa era series.

I think the quality turned out great!

What my goal is is to allow all types of people to watch the shows I sub no matter if they like typesetting or not which is really the problem with fansubs. These kinds of details are pretty much what splits the toku and anime fanbases up.

My little brother absolutely loves the Showa series... I think at some point he's gonna force me to do a Showa era show!
