Yeah Shinkenger was the only time she introduced another actual red ranger to "replace" the old one. A thing she does in all of her toku shows though is introducing some form of second red character either in the show itself or in one of the movies.

The way things are going, I think we're more likely to see Zed as some twisted version of ToQ #1 ala Dark Red Buster than a literal second red.

I hope neither happen to be honest though. It'd be nice to see her be less predictable than that.

With this show we have a pretty good chance of that not happening.

If we get any additional rangers I'm hoping for a violet ranger just to complete the rainbow motif.

Pink is a stand in for the actual color violet. Indigo would be the purple ranger we're all hoping for, some people are just using the term violet based on precedent. As is a "ToQ 7/Indigo/Purple" it's the only piece of the spectrum missing

ToQ 4- Green
ToQ 2- Blue
??? - Indigo/Purple

So I understand. There should be another Red Ranger, and an Evil One, just because of who directs the show? By that logic the only way you should be able to become a Beat Rider is by sacrificing your soul.

I doubt, seriously, that they'll go the Dark ToQ route after just doing that with Go-Busters. They already have sort-of an evil character becoming a ToQ with Zarem. I still hold firm that the main villain at the end of this show is going to be Greta, after she evolves when either Schwartz or the Emperor dies.

On to the show. I agree with Kickback. Why can't every episode of this show be as awesome as this one? Don't get me wrong. I'm loving ToQger far, far, FAR, more than I thought I would when I first saw the designs and heard the story. But the episodes, outside of the almost always epic MotW, have been really hit and miss (Speaking of, Zarem's monster design is beautiful. It's like an evolved Crow Werewolf).
The biggest laugh came when Conductor tried using the Applichanger and only Ticket transformed.. and now I need a Ticket ToQ-6 :lol

Though we did get a revelation this week from Schwarz. Him saying how he wants to take over using Trains and not Darkness. Maybe we'll see an upgrade to the Shadow Line mecha here soon?

Well, it's true that Kobayashi does have a thing for making alternative (and sometimes dark versions) of her Red characters, like with Ryuga in Ryuki, Lost Ankh in OOO, TimeFire, Princess ShinkenRed or Dark Red Buster, buuuuuut... she has done it a lot, so it might be time to break with the cliché. After all, Rokugou doesn't have the usual relation to one of the core team members (like ShinkenGold with ShinkenRed or Beet Buster with Blue Buster). And Kobayashi does seem to realize some tropes and make fun of them this time.

I hope she doesn't got the Dark Toq route. I had enough dark rangers for a while- I mean we had Dark Gokaigers, Evil Red Buster and now Dark Kyoryugers...

The only reason I'd want more dark teams, is that at least in the Gokaiger and Kyoryuger version they're way hotter than the originals :lol

Yeah, but Kyoryuger just did a show where the bad guy's motivations are gathering human emotions to revive the big bad. Granted that plot was taken care of rather quickly in ToQger but i t's still odd that they'd more or less use the same plot twice in a row.

Quite the opposite for me. I liked both teams the way they were. But then again I'm usually not a big fan of the evil ranger thing in general.

First to clarify we are talking about the writer not the director. The director in those shows doesnt really has a say in what happens storywise.
And yeah it is pretty likely that something like that could happen during the end of the show. I remind you that this is a thing Kobayashi is famous for because she did it in every single one of the toku shows she has written.
No urobutchi has not went that route but he still has tons of stuff in the show he did in madoka the humans turning into the monsters they fight is only one example of those.

BUT I dont think Kobayashi will go that route at least for this show since she averted her other major trope. In all of her Sentai shows the sixth ranger or sixth ranger esque character is connected to the past of one of the other team members. And that didnt happen this time. Akira has no known past connection to any of the other ToQGer.

So while its likely she could do the Evil/Other Red Ranger thing I dont think she will. The whole show has made it clear that it wants to avert expectations and take classic Sentai tropes and completely turn them on their heads.

Y'know, if we take into account ToQGer's color swapping gimmick, we technichally have five Red Rangers. :p

Well this was my first episode of ToQGer and I thoroughly enjoyed it. A lot of the things that bothered me and kept me from watching it, didn't bother me at all. ToQ 6 is very interesting and awesome. Right reminded me of Shouichi from Agito so that's pretty cool. ToQ 2 is pretty cool reminds me of kind of Ziggy a little. ToQ 4 reminds me of Micchy before he became a traitorous bastard. I didn't get much from the girls, but Wagon, The Conductor and Ticket are really fun. Zed is really intriguing, and Schwarz reminds me of Dogold a bit so he's interesting too. I'm probably going to go back and watch the previous episodes but I like it right now.
