I think this explains more of the whole Chroma Squad debacle now. I still don't like what Saban did to those guys, but if they're releasing Sentai, and taking the initiative to do it, I can understand why they'd be more careful about protecting their license.

And to celebrate, let's visit one of the most awesome debut henshins of all time:

I really hope this leads to some pre-PR Sentai. I would go nuts for a Jetman release.

I want everything from the 90s except OhRanger and then Aba and Geki as well. Gokai I would rather have on BD since it was in HD and I have the Jp BDs.
Nevertheless, I think I will pick up a few copies to give away as prizes during my panels at my local anime convention next year. BTW, DaiRanger would be easy to market in the US. All they need to do is put JDF"s ****, I mean seal of approval, on the cover. :lol Seriously though, they just need to plaster KibaRanger on the cover and those DVDs would sell. |
Im very excited by this cant wait to actually have some sentai in my DVD collection. I hope it goes over well too I would love to see them go in order but still gonna be cautious just may get the one season but damn this is awesome!
|
Ok if these sell well. Then I hope saban brands and toei talk to crunchy roll to stream the new sentai show the day after they air. Cause it be that what makes me upgrade to watch drama and anime.
|
This is crazy! I will buy at least 1 set of Zyuranger DVDs. I hope everyone else buys it as well!

Although, It might not be such a good thing unless the plastic quality goes back up, as the later sets would crack easier than Beast Wars chrome... |

This is great news. I had a feeling this would happen one day. Media Blasters did release GoLion when the new Voltron show was on Nick a few years ago. So maybe more causal fans will watch it and give the Japanese shows a shot.
I plan to buy this since I like Zyuranger a lot and I want to support more Toku stuff on DVD. |
Holy crap.
|
I do have a feeling that Toku fan subbers will be like "Don't buy this set! Support fan subs!!". I just hope the subs will be good and the video quality won't look like crap. Their Ultra Q release pretty much sucked in my opinion.

So I think toei would give there HQ raw they have to subbed or better toei own HQ DVDs
|
I hope their video transfers won't be as bad as the ones for Ultra Q and Ultraseven.

Just hope if this does well we can see sentai on crunchy roll drama section

I'll definitely buy this to show support, even though I'm not in the US. I strongly suspect this is just being done because they expect it to sell based on curiosity from MMPR fans though, I'll be surprised if it leads to any other seasons, but here's hoping. It should be a cheap and fairly easy process for them to release as long as all the rights holders agree and sales are decent. |

Holy shit I din“t expect this coming...
Really hopes they do the others seasons as well:) |
Well, that was a bolt from the blue. O.o
As much as I wonder how they will treat the subs (ala the Project Kikaida team did for Kamen Rider V-3, Android Kikaider & Kikaider 01), I'm also kinda concerned on how much extras are they going to fill them in. Subbed Interviews, Selected Commentaries on any of the more important episodes, Behind the scenes footage, possible insertion of Zyu2 footage with commentary, a recording to this year's Power Morphicon (what with the announcement of Geki, The TyranoRanger/Kamen Rider J and 2 Toku Veterans of the past and present preparing to join in the roster of guests) and something else on the side. |
Very cool. I never saw this coming. I Will Buy This. I hope we get a date for when this come's out one day soon.
|
This is very cool! Zyuranger isn't my favorite, but there's still a good chance I'll pick this up to show support so that hopefully we can get more of these.
|
I will buy it and let's support it so Shout will do more sentai and even PRE-ZYU/PR sentai
|
Um, unless the entire series is going to be digitally remastered with beautiful adobe sound quality or something, what's the point of releasing this? Can't I already get it online for free?

Yes you can get it online for free, but you aren't supporting anyone by doing that. Buying these DVDs supports Toei and Shout and gives us a chance at getting more series over here if it does well. After you buy the Region 2 DVDs for $500 then you can complain (of which I am not, I am in full support of these DVDs). Oh, but you shouldn't be able to get the series for free anymore as both Nihon and GUIS have taken down their subs. And anyone else that is respectable should be removing the downloads as well. The purpose of fansubs is to provide a free service until it is licensed to be released legally, and that is what this is. |
I'm going buy 2 copies, one for me and one to give to my friend who couldn't believe how different Zyu was from MMPR. And for those saying what about the fan subs? They will still have their place to get the weekly episodes translated, but if this works out we won't have to worry about series being half-subbed and then just stopping (see Abaranger).

Guys, now it makes sense why Saban went after Chroma squad. It's because they have partial distribution rights to Sentai now.
|
I love how my response on twitter is forever immortalized in this topic :lol. But yeah, this is cool news. If this turns out to be more than just a one off I'd love own some the older series on DVD like Gekiranger.

Uh, Holy Sh!t....
Well, now isn't this something. An exercise in "How to get 20+ year old Japanese footage in just 20 short years." All this time of enjoying the Megazord and Scorpina and company, now we can officially have some fun with Daizyujin and Lami and company. We finally have a reason to love Saban and his people again. Super Megaforce is more of a drop into the abyss than an anniversary crowd-pleaser celebrating two decades of a grand heroic legacy. We might be jumping the gun or even shark by thinking MORE will just automatically happen. We should not assume that anything prior to Zyuranger will occur nor should we just assume that everything after Zyu will be viable product releases. I'm not saying they won't be done, but the odds are stacked against us. The sales of THIS set likely will be something both Shout and Saban look into heavily. In all likely hood, they probably know people care for specific Sentai teams just as much as people have specific PR teams. Saban has been riding a MMPR bandwagon and is milking it for all it's worth, and that includes milking its original Sentai counterpart. One can interpret this half a dozen different ways. Regardless of the business decisions people make, this is a reveal we have waited so long for and I think it should be honored and respected. This now means we can show others at large who don't care for PR what the Sentai original is, how it differs from PR, and to let them draw their own conclusions as to what they say is and isn't better.
"Dino Buckler!" "Howling Cannon!" "Gattai! Dino Mission!" "Niisan" "Dragon Ceaser!" |
I'm still a little skeptical about this...Is Shout Factory a reliable brand? I mean, I'm definitely excited about the idea of finally having translations for a handful of Sentai series. But, with Saban involved (of course), I feel that so many things can potentially go wrong.
Who knows? They might cop out on the translations to save money, or..They might 'localize' it, or possibly even omit or censour entire episodes that they deem too "inappropriate"? |
