Also, the point of the game is survival but each individual person can make their own goals in-game. Some just build/mine/farm and others set a goal to beat the enderdragon. It depends on who's playing the game. This is one of those games where the graphics of it don't really matter and people just play it to enjoy it, not worry that their house is a "crude blocky structure". [End rant] |

The open world thing is what draws me to it the most. |

It's a sandbox that allows you to do quite a lot. You can go exploring, or build stuff, or hang out with friends. And the never ending thing? That's good, because it provides and infinite amount of randomly generated content and does not limit the game. Why does a game have to end? It's an interactive experience, you can make whatever the fuck you want with it. People who make games with "proper" ends are typically trying to tell a story with their game, or a created a numbered set of challenges for the player to overcome. And that's fine and good and I don't shun them for that, but we need to look beyond contemporary examples of game design in order for it to truly evolve and diversify as a medium. And Minecraft is one of those games. |

On a separate note: whenever I play Minecraft, I always like to pretend I'm a dwarf and I diggy diggy holes. It's explained here in this song: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ytWz0qVvBZ0 |
Would MS buying Minecraft mean that any possible Minecraft games in the future would only be on the Xbox consoles? MS never shown any support to PC gaming lately. The newest Zoo Tycoon was only exclusive for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 despite the series being a PC exclusive series in the past. None of the Halo games after Halo 2 and the Gears of Wars games after Gears 1 made to the PC. The newest Killer Instinct game is not on the PC and the re-release of Perfect Dark that was on XBLA never got put on Steam.
I love Minecraft, but MS owning the franchise worries me. |

After mining some obsidian, I made me a portal to the nether and there's a nether fortress right next to the portal too. :lol

I started a new Nossandia with the Seed Word 'PoPuLaTeD' spelled just like that without the ' '. Built myself a nice little home between a lava pond and a sand village. Nathan's Home of Crafty Crafting. I didn't find anything spectacular yet, but then I only had one mine thus far.
And as anyone else noticed that after a few days villagers start disappearing? |

I had Minecraft, and I was building a TARDIS on one of my worlds, but my laptop crashed and haven't extracted and hooked up the hard drive to my replacement because I don't want to know if it's unrecoverable. And I can't start again because my new (well, my dad's old) laptop's very slow, so the lag, which was bad enough, would be unbearable. Maybe if I delete some stuff...

Anyone have MCPE?

Never use Daimond as a seed word. It's four islands, all of them mushroom islands, and one tree.
One Tree. |

Can't. I burned it in protest.

Let's just say I'm building my house on top of a pyramid (which obviously does not come to a point because where would the house go?).
Do you guys think it would be cooler to have it atop a 10-block tall pyramid or a 15-block tall one? Per some math I did to space out rooms (this house will go down into the pyramid as well), 10 came out to be the best height. Which I've now built. But I don't know... Looking at it and climbing up it, it kinda feels short. |

It doesn't answer the why of why Microsoft wanted it. I've now seen Notch's perspective and I think he's a fool... but why Microsoft? What do they want to do is what needs answered. |

I just hope someone at Microsoft doesn't think they own Donkey Kong again. :lol |
Can we not call it the Xbone? It kind of irks me when people say that name. >_>

Why couldn't Nintendo get it? D:
Then we'd have a great candidate for Smash 5. |
