Surprise Drive OP Clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMjb2LZMCh4 |
Mitsuru Matsuoka really delivered with that song. He is proofing again why he is on eof my all time favorite japanese singers.
|
Gosh, that multi-recoiling rider kick is AWESOME.
|
I think that my favorite part of the episode is the fact that JUICY KID IS BACK!!!!

Hot damn that was a great first episode. I caught the live earlier and have only just now had time to type up my thoughts. Loved the entire gimmick of the suit and his henshin. Seriously those shift cars seemed like the most useless thing ever until today. The effects and uses of them were excellently handled. And oh my god the belt is fantastic. Love that when the executive producer for Drive said it would be like Knight Rider, he meant it literally! The opening was fantastic and I'm usually not one to dig Matsuoka's music. The villains had great designs for grunts, the support characters who got spotlights felt interesting and purposeful. And dat finisher.
I really really enjoyed this first episode. I know it's heresy to some to say this but I feel that was a much stronger first episode than at least the last few years of new rider shows, including Gaim. |

Cool theme song , sentient hot wheel cars , smiling belt , bad ass Rider Kick , neat looking bad guys!
I am happy with it. |

I thought this was a really strong first episode. I was pretty skeptical of how interesting the gimmick would be and assumed the tire powers would be kind of lame, but seeing it in action completely changed my mind. I actually thought the action was the highlight of the episode, Drive's fighting style is just really cool to watch. I liked the villain designs as well, they have a very distinctive look that I think really makes them stand out among other Toku monsters, at least so far. Kiriko seems like she'll be a cool character too, I particularly liked when she showed up with Trideron and didn't even hesitate to take on the monsters while armed only with a pistol, that was pretty badass.
I'm really impressed with Drive's start, can't wait to see where it goes from here! |
how was the humour? was it bad?
|
I sadly missed the live stream cause I went to see the boxtrolls. It was a good movie but still I missed the first drive episode! Now I must wait till sub's come out
|
Okay....that rider kick was fucking nuts.

Kinda forgot to mention we're doing this with 3T-PC but now I did. |
Well, this didn't quite grip me like OOO, Fourze or W did, but I've got no reservations about sticking with it for a few more episodes at least. The music is good, the designs are nice, and the opening scene had a really cool aesthetic (gotta appreciate any night-time toku scenes we get). I think the tire gimmick just hasn't grabbed my attention yet.

Well... that was all over the place. Really breakneck pacing.
But that's every Rider first episode. They at least established mostly everything, so they can slow things down starting with the next. Shinnosuke seems hilarious and Drive himself is fantastic. Awesome fighting style and badass finisher. Can't wait to see more! |
The lingering attachment to the dead continues with Shinnosuke dead cop buddy.

Just watched the raw of the first episode. I liked it, but am really going to want to see it with subs to figure out what all is going on. The Drive suit and Trideron both look fantastic, though, and I like that the lady cop is really able to kick some ass. The Rider Kick is all kinds of crazy; I feel like the show is intentionally trying to one-up Faiz Axel's Crimson Smash. |
The belts voice sounds familiar , but i can't place on what show i heard it on?
|
It looks good so far.

I have to go to bed as well since I have to get my wisdom tooth removed. At least I have something to look forward too when I get home :).

Looks like a good show so far, I definitely keep on watching it.

That was an absolutely superb first episode. The production values look REALLY slick, the extended cast look like they're going to be fun, there was a good sense of mystery behind the monsters and it was just generally a brilliant episode all around. I don't think a show's ever sold me so hard on gimmick toys before :lol

That was a brilliant first episode, I don't think I've liked a first episode so much since OOO and Kiva. I need to rewatch some of the others ones but still back to Drive. I absolutely loved Shinnosuke, he reminds me a lot of Eiji, Yuusuke, Shouichi, Takumi, Kenzaki and maybe a touch of Wataru not sure. Still he feels like his own character and not just the vanilla hero type like Kouta was. Definitely loved Mr. Belt and the Shift Cars being sentient and attacking the Roimudos. I love that humans turn into the monsters again, I missed that in Gaim. I want to see more of the Villains. Kiriko is really fun too I can't wait to see more of her and her interactions with Shinnosuke too. I like the Special Crimes Unit too they are totally fun. The action was totally amazing, I loved the shift cars and the different types and how he hit the enemies and his ricochet Rider Kicks were totally badass.

Where can I watch this. Someone tell me please
|
I knew this was going to be great when I saw the RAW, and what do you know, it is!
Great first episode, really gets you pumped and excited. Drive himself looks amazing, and I kinda want to drive Tridoron myself now. The Shift Cars look interesting, and their features were pretty good. I can't help but wonder though. It looks like Drive can only carry 4 Shift Cars by himself; the one in the Shift Brace and 3 on the side. Since we know that he'll have plenty more, where will he keep the others? Is he going to have something like the AstroSwitch Kaban? Still, great episode. 10/10 |

That was really a superb episode. This is front to back a Riku Sanjo show and is pretty much a direct continuation of what he did with Kyoryuger. Drive also shares the same high energy atmosphere and good mix of comedy and drama Kyoryuger already had. I love Shinnosuke as a protagonist. I love characters that look like they have given up on themselfes but when they are given the opportunity to do something with their lives they take it and fully embrace their new role. Their is also a good bit of mistery set up in the show with the first scene alone. I cant wait to learn more about that mysterious Rider that fought the Roimudo during the Global Freeze.
What surprised me the most though is that the Shift Cars are their own little characters. They dont talk or anything like that but they have personality and they are not just some toy cars Shinnosuke uses to transform. |
Is it weird if I say the best part of the show was the Hot Wheels track? They even have lil' Lamp posts<3
The timing of this episode is coincidental as I managed to start my engine just a couple of days ago so that resonated. Plus I am never able to turn a good mystery down and it's 2 episode case structure already shows promise. Kamen Rider W is my 2nd fave series so I kinda feel I have to watch this through unless the quality drops heavily which I kinda doubt. Basically, I have hope for this series. [s]Is this gonna be better than Gaim? Hells no. But I like a good mystery to sink my teeth into without bullshit cut-offs W did for the mysteries and to keep fans waiting[/s] Is the henshin voice the same as the Driver's voice? |
is the comedy kyoryuger level
|
first ep was ok, I love the rider design but that gimmick is laughably bad and I hate how much that belt talks
