Anyone got any advice? I downloaded the 780p version, and the video works fine, the subs just don't work. Anyone had this problem before?
|
What program are you using to play the video?

At the very least Toei could make Shocker do something else other than make the Riders fight each other. Marvel superheroes have less infighting than the Riders these days. It's sad. There's one saving grace in this movie, Cheetah Snail. The design is so out there it's either a love it or hate it deal. Personally I kinda like it. |
"Do you really think you can beat me, the great Cheetahsnail!?"
God, Kamen Rider is stupid sometimes. And I love it. :lolol |

Just download the VLC-player, that thing plays nearly everything. |

Super Hero Wars GP - Kamen Rider 3
Subs are up on Overtime for this movie.
Half an hour in, i'm hella confused. Is Kamen Rider 3 a good guy or bad guy? He rider kicks Kamen Rider 1 and 2 early on, apparently killing the on behalf of Shocker. This creats a new timeline in which Shocker rules the world, and Drive's Special Operation police team works for Shocker hunting rogue Kamen Riders that oppose Shocker's rule. Rider 3 then shows up in the Drive universe and recruits Shinnosouke to fight against Shocker, claiming Rider 1 and 2 are still alive, with their consciousness each stored away in some computer. After this explanation, several Showa riders attack, but Rider beats the shit out them (like a bad guy) WTF I gotta sleep and pick this up tomorrow. |
I always get confused on movies with time paradoxes and changes in the past and future. The movie was pretty good though, but kinda long.

I had fun watching it. More so than the last 2 proper Super Hero Taisen movies (the first one and Z) The only problem that really bugged me was the Ninningers showing up out of nowhere and no explanation for it. There's some other things too that bugged me but that one in particular along with the mech fight just irked me. Still was a fun watch though.

... Is it bad that I though the best bit was the ending with Yuuto and Deneb?

Aside from the fact that all fighting scenes with Rider 3 are awesome, because someone finally remembered that the original Kamen Riders are cyborgs. I nerdgasmed when I saw the special effects for Rider 3's charge attacks. So pretty.
Movie itself is just dumb, but I'm able to cherry-pick what I like about this movie and treasure it. |

This movie was really strange. The Niningers came out of nowhere, as did the Tridoron Shuriken (Maybe it's from the same place as the Shift Fruits lockseed), none of the returning riders did anything meaningful, only showing up for trailer fodder, and Gou's death made no sense, considering everyone else came back. Oh, and Den-O was one of the brainwashed riders. Despite him being a singularity point, and having four different personalities to brainwash at once. Even if you can brainwash Imagins. I just noticed it, and it really bugged me. And Shinnosuke remembered the alternate timeline at the end, despite him being altered by it in the first place along with everyone else. So does everyone remember living in a Shocker dystopia for years? And why did Kiriko remember the original timeline? |
Yea I questioned Den O too, since Yuuto was able to remember the original time line.

Den-O being brainwashed was kind of dumb, though, I'll give you that. And regarding the weirdness with Gou's death and the timelines...no. Nobody does remember it. Wanna know why? You need to watch the Kamen Rider 4 videos. |

I guess that comes up in Kamen Rider 4 as well. |
Finally watched this one and well... where do I even start.
I think out of all the SHT movies, this one is the worst (for me). SHT Z was surprisingly decent, KR Taisen was boring as hell, SHT 1 at least was some kind of guilty pleasure but this one... it did entertain me, but Yonemura messing with almost all of my favorite characters wasn't quite what I'd call enjoyable. The pacing felt even worse than in the other movies. In the first half, so much stuff happened and it felt like that stuff was in no order at all. The second half, on the contrary, was pretty uneventful in comparison, but at least had some kind of structure. As for Black's cameo... it was pretty underwhelming. He didn't have much screentime and most of that was in the messy part of the movie. He had a neat chemistry with the Drive cast, but that's about it. Genpachi being that stupid Cheetahsnail Kaijin... ugh, this was all kinds of wrong. The monster itself was pretty dumb. Him and Otta being the same person was almost insulting though. It was the same actor, sure, but that's all that connects the reall Otta with this version. He was a flat and unlikeable character all of a sudden AND was the guy in charge for Gou's death. Does Yonemura hate Drive or something? Because that sure felt like it. Sangou himself... was pretty unimpressive. The actor was okay, I guess, but he didn't really had to do much acting-wise. The character was not even interesting and had a pretty stupid motivation overall. Felt like a typical "evil just because" character. The Blade Riders... where somewhere between disappointing and insulting. I mean, I laughed my ass off at Mutsuki being in charge of things and Garren and Blade acting as his underlings, but that's about it. I couldn't even be happy to hear their voices again because the barely even appeared and those few lines where bs anyway. Tachibana was a pretty boring guest character too. But at least it was cool to see all of them help out Yuuto. Speaking of Yuuto: He was kinda okay most of them time, but something about him just felt off. Like Yonemura was trying hard to make him close to the show, but he missed some important detail. It was a shame that Deneb barely appeared too. Takumi wasn't too spectacular either. He just appeared, was an idiot to everyone, then decided to help them out anyway... Felt pretty much like his show-counterpart though. The Drive characters where pretty... underappreciated. Positive: Rinna and Kyu got some nice little scenes, Kiriko was kinda nice to see too. Negative: Talked about Otta/Genpachi earlier, Honganji died pretty early so almost no screentime, same with Chase who had one nonsensical line and then never appeared again. Shinnosuke was not too well-written either. He changed his mind way too quickly and the plan of racing Sangou was pretty dumb, tbh. His little speech was nice message-wise, but the impact was lost in the mess that was the movie it was in. Gou felt like the star of his movie most of the time. He was pretty snarky, but overall fun to watch, especially when he was hanging out with the other Riders who came back. His death however was more than underwhelming. It was not only pointless, but it also made no use of Inaba's great acting skills- which is a pity. His death in Clone Baby was amazing. The Ninninger cameo was the stereotypical boring SHT trope. A giant enemy appears, J is made useless for a stupid reason and then bam- the Sentai brings their mecha and that's about it. I also found it weird that Shinnosuke didn't recognize them (and the other way around) despite the Gattai special being a movie tie-in leading up to this particular scene. Overall, the movie was as terrible as expected. I laughed a lot about how bad and cheesy it was, but that's pretty much the only thing that made it entertaining. I like the ending theme, though. As for Kamen Rider Yongou: The first episode was actually kinda promising. The author does a way better job at presenting characters and plot. I really hope I can see the other episodes soon. From my first impression, I think it would've been better to make Yongou the main movie and Sangou the web series, tbh. |
*Sangou on top of X* Sangou: I'll...show...you...whos...the...star...of...this...Movie
Just watched the film again and this scene gave me quite a chuckle lol |

Just got around to watching this. Very disappointing (then again I didn't expect much better after last years Taisen film) and the cameos were very pointless and under-utilized.
Sangou: I'm obviously evil from the very beginning but I'm gonna pretend to be good to fool the viewers but we still obviously know you're evil. Bit of a badass in his fights but still predictable and plain. Black/RX: Had a good connection with the Drive cast but that's all he brings to the table in this film. Zeronos: A huge waste on one of my favourite secondary Riders. They only redeemable thing for him in this film was his and Deneb's last scene. Blade Riders: Another huge waste, given the fact that they all technically returned for this film. Faiz: I'm randomly here for some reason and now I'll explain the reason which is plot related, but we viewers pretty much knew that certain plot detail from the very beginning. Great Leader: I've literally just said how easy it would be for me to kill you right here and now but that whole race idea that Drive came up with sounds really cool and interesting. Lets do that instead of me killing everyone cos I'm literally the epitome of all villains and cos the plot demanded it. Ninningers: Hey! Remember when Daigo randomly appeared in last year's Taisen film because the plot demanded it? Lets do it again, but for a whole Sentai team. This film could've been something much better but it failed. It did have some okay parts but overall, it was disappointing. |

Subs for the D-Video Special: Kamen Rider 4 are out on TV-Nihon if anyone is interested. It's an okay special, nothing too extravagant but a decent-ish/okay watch.

Ok, so I finally got to watch this. I liked it. But my one question is, and I've never gotten an answer for this, where did Zeronos get the rib armor? I haven't watched Den-O yet, I don't care about spoilers. Someone please tell me!!

Whatever it's called, it's his third and arguably strongest form. It's hard to explain how this works without completely spoiling everything about Yuuto, so here goes (seriously, this is big, you may just want to watch the show): Yuuto Sakurai was once engaged to Ryotaro/Den-O's sister. About a year prior to the start of the series he vanished and everyone seemed to forget he ever existed. Partway through the series a new, younger guy shows up claiming to be Yuuto - this would be Zeronos. It turns out he's Yuuto from the past, brought forward in time to help fight the Imagin. Every time he transforms he erases somebody's memories of the older Yuuto which, because of how time travel works in Den-O, means that once all of his transformation cards are gone, the older Yuuto will disappear. Later on the cards start running low, but Yuuto gets access to red cards that turn him into Zero Form. The catch is that using these cards erases memories of the younger Yuuto. Technically, at this point Zero Form should be the only one he should be able to use, but nobody involved with these movies gives a damn about canon. |

So basically he's erasing himself from history? Interesting. |
I finally got around to watching this. I actually found it to be pretty entertaining, certainly not as bad as everyone thinks. (I give it some forgiveness for being a Kamen Rider team-up movie)
I really liked Sangou and his henshin. The TriCyclone was pretty neat, too. Having Yuuto and Deneb return was nice, but I wish Deneb had more screen time. I also really liked the moment when Garren said Kenzaki's name; it felt like a nice, natural callback to the series. Ninninger was really forced and unnecessary, though. One thing I really liked was that they still used the bell/jingle sound effect for Hibiki's drum sticks (Ongeki Kou?). Hibiki is one of my favorite series, so it was nice to hear that sound again.
