This show look great can't wait to see the next ep loving everything about it so far
|
I knew my love was properly placed! And people laughed when I said I'd be buying all the DX toys before seeing the show. lol. ;)
I can't wait for subs to drop. I agree about the Showa vibes. Toei seems to be pushing the Showa vibe a bit more lately. |

Episode 1 was really good, so it looks like I'm not going to be regretting buying all these Eyecons either. Sigh..... |

The great thing about being a Rider fan is trying to keep up with the current series, while buying stuff from a gagillion previous series. Did I say great? I will soon be an Eyecon.

Decided to watch the live stream on a whim, and I'm glad I did. Never done it before, and it was really cool. Loved a lot of the effects they used in this first episode (black splatters and lighting on the suit); hope they keep them going. Very excited for the subs.

I know I’m a bit late but I’d just like to say that I second
IXRollOutIX’s comment about the soundtrack; what has been heard so far is b e a u t i f u l. ❤ |
Re-watched the episode raw. I noticed that in the Super Hero Time segment at the end, StarNinger is using the Condor Phone. Huh.
|
Y'know, I didn't catch it the first time, but rewatching I feel like this alll happened a bit too fast. Like he dies like five minutes in. I feel like it would've been better if he died near the very end then became Ghost. It feels like the episode was working too quickly to hit keynotes without sufficient in-between meat. On the plus side it felt fast-paced and not slow at all, so maybe it's the first ep jitters. A lot of my favourite KR series have had weak first episodes. I don't think subs will change that, but maybe they'll make things... smoother.
And yeah, that puppet may very well ruin the show for me. |

Personally, when we first saw Yurusen in the magazine scans I was remarkably concerned, because, I mean, look at him. But when he showed up in Drive last week, I was pleasantly surprised to find him actually really fun, and this episode just sold me completely on his inclusion. I can definitely see why he would rub people the wrong way, but I really like him. Though I think any success Yurusen has had with me is owed in large part to the fact that Yuki Aoi is just a really good voice actor. |
I don't see what "sold' you, honestly. It's an annoying puppet, with an annoying high voice, and it's so badly composited you can see where it's little cape is resting on the arm of whomevers puppeteering it. It's not even a good puppet, it's a lame handpuppet that can wiggle it's arms. I had more involved puppets in elementary school.
It really feels like pandering to, like, really little kids. Like, toddlers. |

(Given the voice, I'm going to consider Yurusen a girl until proven otherwise here. I don't think it's been confirmed yet.)
I usually dislike the annoying sidekick characters, too. But there's just something about Yurusen that I really like, personality wise. I for one loved the banter between her and Ghost in the crossover special. She's fun, sassy and keeps Takeru in line. So what if she's a silly puppet? It's not like the effects in Kamen Rider have ever been great before. At least she's practical and not some garbage CGI mock up. |
I'm not against Yurusen, in fact I'll think he/she has the potential to become the next Ankh. Put your pitchforks and torchs away.
Yes, Ankh had a body so he wasn’t always a levitating hand, but I fully expect Yurusen to get a human form eventually. I didn’t think he/she (I just call it "it" from now on) was that bad, it has a snippy personality and is fun to watch. The voice isn't that annoying to me. If that's the shows idea of a comedic sidekick I take it over the atrocious SIU from Drive anytime. Just remember the shit these guys pulled throughout the first half of the show, it was disgusting. Weird faces starring into the camera, these terrible cuts and filters and the random sound-effects… yuck. |

It is to early in my opinion to really state if Yurusen will be annoying or not, I would also say that annoying can be done well but for some reason I think the character will be be doing backhanded comments more than actually being stupid and annoying, but again to early to tell.

What's the point of first episodes if the first impressions supposedly don't count? It is quite clearly annoying. |
I disagree, it may be a bad first impression for you personally, but it does not mean that impression will last.
In the end it comes down to the writing, as such I would say its to early to disregard the character. |
How exactly could they change the puppet to not be annoying?
Because it's a puppet. So unless they get rid of the puppet, I'm gonna hate the puppet. On the grounds that it's an annoying puppet. |
*Will be first in line for Premium Bandai Yurusen* I'm okay with this.

Kivat for example was never annoying to me, though he was actually given a character, I think the worst in the last years was Kamen Rider Beast in Wizard, he was more interesting towards the end but just badly written most of the time. Essentially for me at least if Yurusen is written well I will personally not have an issue with the character but that is something I cannot make a statement about before the show has lasted a bit. |

My nephew is already begging me for the action figures.....I will have to buy two of each D: !

Subs are out: http://over-ti.me/releases/kamen-rider-ghost-01/

After having seen the scene a few more times, I can confirm my initial impression: the Gan Gun Saber's standby phrase is annoying as heck. Boo to that standby phrase.
|
Kamen Rider Ghost's first episode was... meh. It wasn't terrible, but wasn't very good and felt extremely rushed.
In fact, I don't know why, but it felt like they were just copying OOO, just not doing it very well. |

Very cool and enjoyable episode. I hope the rest of the show will turn out good.
|
Watched it with subs, I really enjoyed this. The characters and actors are likable, the action is good, the music is really awesome with the traditional Japanese vibes and Yurusen isn't as bad as I feared. Actually I think the little dude is kinda fun with his snippy personality.
I’ll definitely continue watching this. |
There wasnt much in terms of new information I got through the subs but ist still nice to get everything in a language I understand a bit more than japanese :lol
Its fun so far. Gonna look forward to next week. |
It was a very awesome episode. I enjoyed it a lot. Takeru is a very interesting character, I love his spirit and wanting to be a hero like the famous heroes. I enjoy the supporting cast Onari is fun and I forget the girl's name but her being interested in Science and not believing in Ghosts is perfect balance here. I am intrigued with the plot of finding the other Eyecons. The suit's lights are awesome and I loving the action, the Eyecons, the bike, and the change to Musashi as well. I can't wait for more.

Was a good episode, I like how it left quite a bit still unexplained so the first episode didn't feel like one big info dump like the Global Freeze in Drive did.
Characters all seem likeable enough, Yurusen is awesome (although I'm probably basing a lot of that off having just come off Symphogear GX and thinking Aoi Yuuki is awesome). The henshin sequence with the hoody ghosts is brilliant as well. I think a lot of my enjoyment for this first episode came out of the two big fight sequences being in a forest and on a beach, rather than the usual cityscapes. |
Yup, subs confirm I'm going to enjoy this show. The episode felt nicely balanced, I enjoyed the mix of humor, action, and seriousness. Another great cast too.
|
That was pretty good. Still don't like the belt voice, but maybe it'll grow on me.
|
Not bad. I definitely like the gimmick, transformation, and all that, which I'll watch a series for if nothing else.
Takeru isn't as "generic Sentai protagonist" as I feared, and he's actually a pretty good character. Kinda disappointed about what could have been; time traveling, meeting the people in the eyecons, at least the ghost parkas being sentient. I can see their formula now: Takeru sets out to collect objects related to historical figures, reads about them, gets all excited about them, then a Ganma appears or he finds an object related to the historical figure where he also finds a Ganma, and its powers and behavior set it up so that that something that historical figure did or is known for is perfect to beat the Ganma, at which point Takeru gets the Eyecon out of the object. I mean, hopefully not (past the first few episodes anyway), but y'know. Quote:

Well I finally watched the episode (yay for subs). I have to say that I really enjoyed it. The characters seem pretty fun and from what we were given could lead to some interesting character growth. I love how Akari is a believer purely of science and Onari is a pure believer of the supernatural, it makes for some fun comedy. It appears that Akari will slowly come to accept that not having is tied in with science, so it should be fun to see if Onari has the opposite growth of believing in science more. Takeru seems like a nice character as well. In the end he'll probably come to the cliche'd "I know what a true hero is moment," but I think it would work here since here he is idlozing all of these other heroes and believing to be one you have to do close to what they did. Sage seems like a more playful version of Sagara.
The designs are cool, especially the monsters. Overall I really enjoyed the first episode. Whereas Drive lost me super early on, I can see myself watching Ghost to the end. |
