You know what's really funny? Takeru acting stealthy even though he can become completely invisible with his Ghost powers and completely evade detection with them.

Four episodes in and Onari kind of makes me think of an over energetic Oren. He's bald, he yells his exclamations a lot, and claims to be a professional (where as Oren is a professional). Only Oren is gay and Onari is just slightly annoying. I love Yurusen and Gramps.
|
...Oren wasn't gay...
Episode was decent. Apparently I fucking blinked and missed him getting Newton, which was bullshit. Spectre shouldn't have appeared this early. Felt crammed in. Villain was too ominous, and I just don't even know what the fuck. Seeing Takeru realize his powers was cute. Like him bowing while sneaking, or forgetting he can become intangible. |

Oren being effeminate and flamboyant doesn't necessarily make him gay. Him being all over Takatora, however, sorta does.

I knew Metal (Oren's real name) was straight. I have my seen his wife, but I hear she's a looker.

You went full MPR. Never go full MPR. |
MPR?

Aw, yup, the "they're not gay, they just admire them!" angle. Yup.
And Korrasami were just good friends. You guys do know, absence of evidence does not equal evidence of absence, though, right? Unless a character volunteers any information about their orientation in some way (which Oren did, because seriously, Takatora) there literally isn't any way to say any character (or person, for that matter) is gay or straight or anything else. Oh, and Mitchy wasn't straight... |

All I want to say is if you look at all of fx used around Oren while in civilian form, and occasionally in Rider form, you'll see a lot of hearts and flowers. You'll also see that his motions/actions also relay the fact that he is gay. I mean how many straight male characters do you see doing this

Something about Gramps' wording makes me feel like we'll get quite a few Riders, and not just 3. Could be just me.
I'm probably one of the few that doesn't mind the fast pacing. At least there's no cop-out excuses for why the MotW got away in order to force a 2-parter. I definitely think Spectre is going to kickstart the plot though. And he's definitely giving off Ren vibes for me. |
Is Gramps a Psychopomp? I have a feeling he's some kind of Psychopomp.

I mean, I do also doubt we're getting just three, but I expect that any new ones would come pretty late in the series, like Gold Drive. At most I'd say a fourth one could come in in the third quarter, but it's hard to say. |
Another great episode of Ghost. Sennin sure has a lot of secrets. I love the part where Takeru forge couldn't be killed and just let the city fall on him. I suppose Drive episode 48 takes place between episode 3 and 4. It sucks that Ghost didn't get Nobunaga, it would've been cool to see him in Nobunaga Damashii. I can't believe Nobunaga rejected him like that. I hope in the future, Ghost, Specter, and Necrom can trade Eyecons and use different Damashii. I'd think it'd be pretty easy since the forms are just jackets.

I wonder what Ghost would look like with two horns...

Actually, I liked the Book Ganma in general. He was fun. |

This episode was a bit all over the place, plot-wise, but could've been worse. If I hadn't known beforehand about the Drive crossover thanks to this thread, the bit with Newton would've felt even more out-of-nowhere than it did. Takeru figuring out his ghost powers is cute and enjoyable and the fight scenes were enjoyable.
Spectre does look cool, though I'm surprised that the show would introduce another Rider this early. the shade of blue really goes well with all the black. |
I have to watch the Drive crossover to figure out when he gets Newton? What?
Seriously, where did it come from? |
The Newton eyecon was already in existence. There has been NO story for it yet.
|
Did I miss something? When was it introduced? Did I blink and not catch a scene or something? When did that flashback to him happen? Or has it just...Been around and I'm just a forgetful asshole?
GODDAMMIT. |

Let's not even talk about the fact that he already used Newton in Surprise Future. It's bullshit, is all it is. |

Apparently about a week or so before the finale of Drive takes place, the Kamen Riders infiltrated a Neo-Shade base. A Ganma after the Eyecon intervenes during their attack, but Ghost fights it off and Drive ends up taking the Eye into custody. More recently, it was stolen from the research lab. The SCU tracks down the perp before the Ganma attacks again; Ghost shows up again too and this time finally destroys it. The thief escapes in the commotion but Shinnosuke retrieves the Eyecon; holding it allows him to see Ghosts apparently. The thief kidnaps Kiriko and holds her for ransom in exchange for Newton, so Takeru lets Shin keep the Eye until the case is resolved. The thief is revealed to be the leader of Neo-Shade and wants to use the Eyecon to lure Ganma into working for him so that he can revive his organization now that the Roidmudes are gone... or something like that. Shinnosuke saves Kiriko, catches the bad guy, and finally Ghost and Yurusen take Newton with them. |
Alright, so I watched that episode again and Shin does in fact say "a month ago" when referring to attacking the Neo-Shade base... Which sort of screws up the timeline with Ghost. Takeru attacked the Ganma then, and comes back to get the Eyecon a month later. But within Ghost, Takeru has only been a Kamen Rider for 10 days by the time he has Newton under his belt. Maybe Shinnosuke just meant "last month" instead? That's the only way I can make it work. Even then, that technically means that Ghost pretty much HAD to have gotten Newton BEFORE Edison, but Yurusen just held on to it and Takeru forgot about it.
EDIT: Actually, no. Even then, "last month" doesn't work because Takeru actually became Ghost on the 4th of October, in series. Which means Drive 48 had to have taken place from flashback to present entirely in October without a month gap of any kind in between. GOD DAMMIT, CONTINUITY. |
