I would love to see black and green also. We've technically gotten those already in the forms of MidoNinger and Gokai Pink's black ranger changes. But I want a female black and green on the main team.

MidoNinger I'm willing to accept to a small degree. But her outfit was just a lacey green version of AkaNinger. So at the same time.... no. As for GokaiPinks stuff, no. They were just narrowed forms, nothing that was really hers.

We can't really take the Gokai changes into the equation, since every Gokaiger has transformed into every color, including Pink.
So if we were to ask for a female black ranger or a male pink ranger, the easy (And unfair) counter is to just point at Gokaiger and say "There. Remember that one token scene where they all change into pink rangers for 30 seconds?"

The idea of gendered colors is flawed. My favorite color is green too. I was SO excited to see Midoninger, though I was sad to see it was just a recolor of Red and she didn't get her own helmet design. Being a V Cinema though, I understand.

Gender binaries are beginning to bother me. A lot. I work at Toys R Us and people are constantly going "Do you have a boy/girl version of this?" Even when the product has gender neutral colors/design. "But there's a boy/girl in the picture on the box."

If the product meets all your specifications, then that's what you get....why does it HAVE to be gender specific?

No, please no. green Ninninger was bad. Very bad. She's as bad as female red Shinkenger (literally, the worst red ranger in Sentai). Though, I wouldn't mind a female red since I have no attachment to the color whatsoever but green should stay male.

Blue is considered a boy's color but there's a lot of female blue rangers. Green can take blue's place.

Can you explain yourself on why Kaoru is the worst Red Ranger in Sentai? She literally shook up Shinkenger's status quo and was such an important character to SS too.

You know, you said a while back that purple is a female color. You do know that purple is an OLD color for MALE royalty in Israel (or was it just Rome?), right? So by your logic of gender oriented colors, purple should be a male color. As should pink, since at one point it was the closest color peasants could get to red for their boys in medieval times because red was a color primarily for royalty.

I just think we should drop the idea that any colour relates to a gender, but that's just me.

I think LiamLee is being ridiculous, and a little misogynist. Colors shouldn't be relegated to particular sexes, and I don't think Kaoru Red was a bad plot device at all. The final plot twist (i.e. how Takeru regained leadership) was a brilliant moment, heh.

In general, I associate Sentai Black with tough, cool characters (sometimes strongmen like Gosei Black or Gao Black). If a theoretical future female Sentai Black was Wonder Woman-esque ass kicker, I would have zero problems with it.

I agree. Colors shouldn't be based on gender. But the character's personality. But then if this were the thing, eventually would have it set that all Sentai of that color should be the same. So in a sense, as good as the idea is, color shouldn't mean anything. That is unless you're tying it to something like the elements or making an animal reference or something or that nature.

Gao Black was tough or cool? The guy at one point sacrificed his friends for a woman.
Also, misogynist isn't really the best adjective to describe my post since I'm being fair to both genders (or unfair to both genders depending if you look at the glass half-empty or half-full). Women should be purple and pink since these colors are often associated with femininity. Men should be green (replacing blue), black and red in my opinion. Yeah, I know I said I don't care if there's a female red but remembering female ShinkenRed left me a bad taste in my mouth. Other colors can be shared.

And regarding purple being royalty for ancient Rome and Israel and pink being the color of peasants, these were ages ago. Examples should be the present world in Japan, America and other countries that watch Sentai.

Your choice of words are what leads one to assume you're at least being sexist though. You're saying that women should be purple and pink rather than saying that is the common color associated with them today. That isn't fair to both genders, that's suggesting you believe they can only be those colors.
In this modern day and age, if they want to be different colors, they can be different colors. Does it mean Toei will switch colors up? No, but that doesn't stop the possibility of other colors.

Now, let's get back on topic. This isn't about what we assosicate with a gender, it's about what we would like to see a color a female senshi can be. So let's please move on.

Purple isn't associated with femininity. It's a gender neutral color that you want to associate with women because it's visually similar to pink.
Hell, green isn't necessarily a masculine color. It's associated with nature and can just be as easily worn by a woman.
Meanwhile, black and white are accent colors with no sway in either direction, while blue has always been in the middle, with lighter shades being associated with femininity and deeper shades with masculinity, but it's also rather gender neutral.

He'd probably be pretty divisive on Jetman.
On one hand, Kaori is a nice, pretty girl that sits down, stays quiet, and smiles when she's not in suit, Ako gets 2 whole episodes dedicated to her (Out of 50), and Gai's desire for Kaori could be interpreted as a manly rivalry against Ryu.
Though, Ryu's motivation is getting Maria, a woman, back, and a lot of his personal characterization comes from both determination to save her as well as learning when to let some things go.

I dunno where he'd stand with it.

Because it's not. Sentai features 6 main characters along with an ongoing story, of course some characters are going to get the short end of the stick.
But a lot of your criticisms all stem from an identical point.

Your constant issues with Tsuruhime and why the intellectual of the group wasn't a damsel in distress for one of the other 4 men to save more often instead of Seikai or Saizou, the 2 idiots.
You're bringing up that MagiGreen and GaoBlack were bad characters solely because they both valued a woman.
You wanting to remove MegaYellow in place of another man on the team.
It's not about how many focus episodes a character gets, but rather how you personally react to a woman being a prominent figure (Also the notion that women should only get 4 colors, 2 of which are still mostly male (Yellow and Violet) and barring women from being green, red, and black altogether)

So I'll let you know right now. Jetman's primary arc is a love triangle involving Ryu, Gai, and a woman. Gai's rivalry with Ryu doesn't stem from 2 men wanting to push their strength to the limits, but rather, Gai trying to win the heart of the woman he loves.

Anyway, your interpretation is very one-sided. I don't like MagiGreen and GaoBlack because MagiGreen don't have self-respect while GaoBlack sacrificed his friends for a woman. That's not just valuing a woman, that's worshiping a woman sacrificing something else that is important. You're not looking at the "sacrificing something else that is important" part.
In the case of MagiGreen, the woman never did anything good to him, ever. Well, she was nice to him at the end but that was after it happened. She was mean from the start. Now if the plot happened same as like say.. Daigo-Kujaku's arc from Dairanger, it would have been understandable. But no, MagiGreen had a complete lack of self-respect.

Well, I've only watched the first appearance of female ShinkenRed when I wrote that comment. I thought the plot was heading to a feminist "women are better than men" storyline. Thank god it didn't.

Chisato happens to be a woman and was the only weak part of the cast. Everyone else was enjoyable. Shougo's short appearance already made an impact on me and I wanted more of him, preferably as a ranger. Plus, he'd look good on yellow. :D

Again, you're being very one-sided. I prefer specific colors to both men and women. Why are you looking only at the women part?
