Correct. So Saban lost the rights due to his Fox contract. Not because he wanted to lose Power Rangers and Digimon.

I did a little looking and found the 2001 press release from Saban on the matter as a LA Times article about the sell.

Long story short, Saban and News Group (owners of Fox) were involved with the sell. The sell was for Fox Family, Saban Entertainment, and some foreign market Fox Kids blocks (The American Fox Kids was not a part of the sell).

It's also mentioned in the LA Times article that back in 1997 Disney was out bided on the sell of International Family by Saban/News Group. Disney saw their rating slip while the channel was under the name Fox Family and took the opportunity to buy it. Saban Entertainment (and in turn Power Rangers) was just part of the package.

So yeah, short answer is still: Disney did not and does not want Power Rangers.

Eh Disney has Star Wars and Marvel I doubt they'd be concerned in the first place.
