I guess I'm cool with all this as long as everything's back to normal next year. I'm not usually the type to complain about things being too different, but man this seems like a bit of a curve ball.

Isn't this the 45th anniversary Rider? Fourze at least had bug eyes. The only thing they remembered here is the little forehead gem that every Rider has.

On the bright side, he's a really vibrant magenta color, and I dig that. Hope whatever the show is like, it's good.

I find it really amusing that people were okay with fruits and animals but not video game guys who actually look like fighters.

I judged Ghost and Drive on their designs and I was right. Both of those are garbage and childish, especially Ghost.

I just can't take this Kamen Rider seriously. This series has to be an all out comedy one because that is the only way it will work, and I'm tired of light hearted, comedic Kamen Ride series. I want the show to go back to being more mature like Agito, Blade, Hibiki, and Kiva. Ever since Gaim ended the show is just trying to be Den-O 2.0. Toei has now put Kamen Rider into the same safe zone they have put Sentai, which defies the whole point for the two shows airing back to back. One was supposed to be for kids and more childish while the other was supposed to be for a slightly older demographic with more mature storytelling. Now, there is no difference between the two.

Well that's the thing though, people weren't. This happens pretty much every year. Give it 6 episodes and most of us will probably be talking about how excited we are for the next episode.

...first time i saw it, based on how the color scheme greatly resembles those of Ex-Aid's, i thought it was going to be Ex-Aid's rider machine :p

I didn't see that happen with Ghost or Drive. Both shows are abysmal and some of the worst from the entire franchise. They make Wizard look like a masterpiece. They make Decade look good.

I love every single thing about Ex-Aid. I love Ghost, and I will be very sad to see it go when it's over, but I can't wait to see Ex-Aid. Kinda brings the video game theme around since Zyuohger has a pixel theme with its animal theme.

Gaim's face was a damn orange slice. I miss soap-opera Kamen Rider as much as the next guy, but I'd hardly say there's no difference. They upped the comedy, but the drama is still there. I totally get if Rider hasn't been up your alley lately, but you don't have to be grumpy about it.

Don't get me wrong, I do love the color schemes, but there's a reason people don't use those colors anymore. They're pretty garish, and that's the part I like about them. It's like a 90s MTV music video came to life.

I like that the Rider himself seems to have created the monsters this time around. That's an interesting spin on the standard monster origins.

Just right now I find the main Rider's suit to be utterly atrocious. That alone probably won't ruin the show though. (Probably will have me not wanting to buy merchandise of him...)

That's... not really an argument at all. Or an excuse. Because people are allowed to just not like it for the same reason you do. Aesthetics are just a personal taste kind of thing.

You mean the show that had a character's complete view of the world collapse around him, had a family betrayal plot going on, has a main character's somehow surpassing the expectations of a spirit from another world and is constantly evolving? The tone may not be dramatic all the time but it most definitely has a solid story.

Seriously? We had a series where the cool rival character wore a banana across his chest and that was considered one of the darkest shows out there. C'mon, man, don't let your dislike of the designs blind you to what's happened in the past.

No they are not. Drive is a solid show. Ghost is trash, but Drive was good. You just had to stick around a bit to witness it, which sucks, but the show wasn’t as bad as Ghost.

I’m sure Toei’s marketing board is shedding a collective tear because a grown ass man in America isn’t taking Kamen Rider serious anymore.

Nope. Even with Ghost's heavy focus on silliness, Den-O was a lot more silly and soap opera-ish. Unlike Den-O both Drive and Ghost also have a working set of antagonists and a story that goes somewhere as opposed to Den-O's nonexistent plot.

With Ghost that’s the case yeah, but Drive was much more mature than Ninninger. And just because the design of the suits could interest younger kids doesn’t mean the show will be lighthearted.

Also I hear the "Sentai and Kamen Rider target different audiences"-argument a lot but I never saw a source for that. I’m pretty sure it’s not really the case for a long time now, if it ever has been.

I grew up in the 90's and have fond memories of them, wacky colors and fashion are not among those. The suit colors of Ex-Aid are horrible.

Didn't say it was an excuse or an argument, I was honestly curious if people weren't around to witness the glory that was 90's fashion.

So, with the scan being real, I want to talk about a couple things.

1) These suits look ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! They look like a 5 year old drew up his own Sentai Characters, and they where sent to Toei, and they thought that it would make great Rider costumes instead. Also, we haven't even started, and they're ALREADY re-using a suit for a Rider. Seriously, this is stupid!

2.) I would've liked the idea of the show, but the whole concept for it looks incredibly complicated. There's this one Driver that everyone has a copy of, and they use random little trinkets to henshin, and then have other things that look like a handle with a card holder on it, to give them random bits of armor.

3.) This seriously looks like a low-budget Kamen Rider Gaim.

I have a good feeling I'll like the show no matter what, but I'm curious what the tone will be. Probably more of the same as Ghost, but I wonder if it might be like Rider's very own Carranger, or blow everyone's mind and be the next Gaim.

That totally fits the theme of video games though. A dark pallatte swap of the main character is something you see so often.

Those handles are the trinkets they use to transform. The robots act as their armor for their power ups.

Well seeing more of this show, all I can say is that it all looks okay to me. There isn't much that stands out, and I get that there are heavy 90's colors, but there is a reason that style pretty much died out.

Overall I'll watch the show, but the suits are a mixed bag for me. I enjoy them for the most part, but I can see the add on armor clashing. Also the level one mode looks ridiculous to me.

In all seriousness though, I really wonder what made Toei go with this. Did focus group data tell them kids love magenta? Because I can't imagine that being the case. I guess the joke will be on us when toy sales go through the roof.

Well I am loving this, reminds of of gaudy the Gen 2 transformers were. I think the knight is my favorite so far, but I do like the rest too.

As someone whose familiarity with the franchise remains much more toy-based than show-based, I'm...more interested in seeing how the show turns out than the Figuarts do? I grew up in the 90s, so the colors don't bother me. Plying a video game theme and how that could play out is something I'm curious about. Honestly the only thing that bugs me about the initial suits we see here is the Riders have obvious irises, which is throwing me off (even Akibaranger didn't do that), but even when I say that, I'm thinking of lining toys up on a shelf instead of watching a show.

So yeah, I'll tune in and see how the show turns out, but I may not preorder the initial Riders whenever Figuart listings go up down the road. Even that said, I expect there to be enough different suits over time I'll find stuff more to my liking in plastic form later on.

There's this thing see, called appeal. Attraction. I wouldn't care if I was the best show in the world story-line wise, if I can't get past the way it looks then everything else will continue to suffer in comparison.

Surprise! Some people *are* wired that way! I don't care for it's appearance and I'm not the only one. I made a comment on it and not surprisingly, people have to rush to defend it, for whatever reason.

It looks like shit to me. ME. There's no need to try to coax me otherwise or get defensive just because you like it. I'm quite sure there are things that I enjoy that you don't care for either. Are you worried my opinion might sway yours? It shouldn't.

So after several years of waiting for a good Rider series, FOR ME it's dead to ME. I'll check back next year.

You know what really isn't necessary? Calling a show "shit" after seeing the first few leaked promotional pieces of it.

And I'm not defending a show I haven’t seen yet, I'm just sick of the attitude some people have around here. You can call a show shit if it actually is shit; I don’t care, but going around and doom saying a show that is three months away from being aired is stupid.

You can dislike and criticize the designs all you want, like I do, because I think they look horrible, but you called the whole show shit. And you have no reason to because the show isn’t out yet.
