I could probably rant about Ghost for days. The show sucks. It's terrible. The action is decent at best, comedy is atrocious, suit design is meh, characters are absolute garbage, and the story is complete crap.
There's nothing enjoyable about this shit. The only good part about it is that it's gonna be over soon. I can’t rant about Decade because for me it doesn't exist and it never will, and the only other problem with a show I have at the moment is Faiz. I want to watch it because I want to complete all of Heisei except the one that doesn’t exist for me. But god damn is it horrible. The freakin’ drama is over the top, suit design does nothing for me and I hate the female sidekick. And to be honest the protagonist isn’t much better. I have some time on my hands now so I might continue with Faiz but I don’t expect to be entertained. |
I'll never understand why people don't understand the massive writing flaws of Gaim or even people who like Kouta for that matter. The other characters except for Marika are pretty good and intriguing but Gaim and Marika are two of the worst characters in Kamen Rider. I mean seriously they make Delta from Faiz look the like one of the best characters ever.
Besides that I don't understand why people don't like Ghost, it has one of the best casts and stories. Onari and Akari grow so much and aren't annoying like they used to be. It has that Showa Era vibe of helping people like he's basically a new Kamen Rider Black. I love the friendship aspect of it too and Takeru believing in his friends too. I guess I'm optimistic and like optimistic characters and people just don't like him because they are either pessimistic or realistic. Though Ghost just like OOO reminds me of Kingdom Hearts in multiple ways and that's what I really like about both series a lot. Also Makoto and Alain get great arcs too. I will also not understand why people didn't like Drive that was a fantastic series with some of the best Riders ever. Other things I could rant on are why the Showa Era Riders don't get much love, I could talk about Stronger, Super-1, Black RX, or other shows so much because of how ridiculous and awesome they are but it's like always about either the Heisei Era or the Neo-Heisei Era. I also don't understand why people care about Insert Songs in Ghost, I mean Ghost has some of the best insert music in Kamen Rider, I freaking love Necrom's theme. Sure they don't have lyrics but the music can still get you hyped. Well that's all I can think of right now, but that felt good ranting about it lol. |

And where does Onari grow exactly? Akari I can understand because she constantly rises to the challenge, but Onari doesn’t. There’s two points in the entire show where he did something worthwhile: One, dealing with Javel. Second, fighting against the Knive Ganma. He never did anything noteworthy outside of these two points, and if he did something to help out it’s always coupled with bullshit comedy like him playing a punk to get Takeru und co. into Deep Connect or him being possessed by Goemon. And we can’t really know if he grows because we know nothing about who he is. He teased once that he was sinful in the past but Takerus dad saved him, never is this mentioned again and never do they built upon it. Akari grows as a character, Onari doesn’t. He’s the weakest comedic relief filler in a long time. Quote:

The lyrical themes are good to play in the background when listening to music and stand out more, not to mention KR has a track record for amazing songs, Ranbu Escalation, Spinning Wheel, Leave All Behind, Supernova, Lord of the Speed, Ride the Wind, etc. Necrom's theme is badass but when has it ever been played after he joined the good guys? Not to mention it's hard to track down on the internet. (This is the part where I whine for a link to Necrom's theme) The show's OST itself is good, but the vocal tracks stand out a lot more than the others. I remember the theme in Kuuga when Godai would start a fight, I remember the same for W, the 'hissatsu' music for Kabuto and Wizard, Gaim's Kiwami track, but that's literally it |

tbh Showa stuff is REALLY cheesy, I watched Amazon and an episode of Stronger. It's so damn ridiculous that one could say it doesn't hold up to today's standards. It's why I'd love an Amazonz-ish Stronger

TBH, If I have to rant about the Kamen Rider Shows that I don't like, That would be Wizard.
It was boring! They says Drive and Ghost are not good show but how about Wizard?! The characters are more dull than Drive and Ghost! Some of their episodes are RUBBISH! Don't get me started on that bird one! I felt this one got be the WEAKEST Kamen Rider show of Phase 2! Their theme song are so rubbish! This singer really botched the song! I just hated that show! Beast didn't play any important role at all beside sacrifice his belt to save humanity I think RUBBISH! RUBBISH! RUBBISH! |
For the Kamen Rider shows that I like, That would be Den-O
I watch this show back in 2007. Before this show, I wasn't a Kamen Rider Fans because most of 2000s Kamen Riders were BORING especially Faiz one! This show was the reason of I got into Kamen Rider. It was funny and it was very unique. While it got MCU-Villain Problem. The show is still enjoying to this day! I would wish to go back 2007 where it was a good time! :) |

As this post was more about ranting than debating I'm not really going to go into this much. I think Ghost's story is fantastic and I'm not the only one who thinks this. I just don't like people calling it a weak show when honestly it's not. It holds up in a multitude of ways. Onari I think is a gem and one of the best comic relief characters but he is so much better when they play up his compassionate role especially with Javert. He understands how he can help Takeru and does his best to do that. I wish they would stop playing let's fuck with the secondary rider in the last 3 series because Baron, Mach, and Spectre all get shit on at different points of each story but besides that Makoto I think has a had a lot of great story moments and the plot moved forward when he was introduced. He helped push Takeru and helped convince Alain to change too. Makoto is extremely essential to the plot. Well see in Black RX, Stronger and Amazon they would just help random people who needed help, which Random people go to Takeru to help. So it is very much has a Showa-Era feel to it and I wouldn't be surprised with it being an anniversary season. I dunno the first half of Drive made me emotional for a little toy car, so I can't really say that it was weak and after that shit ending of Gaim I couldn't wait for Drive all the time afterwards. Now this might be a thing of tastes but the Paranormal/Supernatural/Ghost elements with the historical figures I love the hell out of and the Android Threat/Cop Drama/Superhero elements made Drive amazing too. If it would have ended better I would've been fine with Biblical Break Dance Fighting Fruit too but I wasn't. |

Onari. Best comedic character. Pick one, Bravo worked because he was over the top camp gay. Sasword worked because he was over the top 'muh noblesse oblige' combined with his over the top ignorance. Onari isn't over the top, he just yells a lot. Hell, I remember getting pain in my eyes when he yelled "A DRAGON?!" out of nowhere. Ghost isn't an anniversary season. It has next to no references outside of spinoffs. Fourze worked as an anniversary season because all the characters were based on previous Riders if you played with their names, not to mention Fourze not only acknowledges previous Riders, but was planned to have older Riders appear in the show If by 'weak and shit ending' you mean the stuff with Jam, then you're not looking at the 'ending', but an epilogue, there's a difference. Not tackling the Drive argument because I enjoyed the first half too Again, pretend the epilogue doesn't exist. Same applies to W. Something else I'd like to complain about Riders. Movie Exclusive Forms. Outside of Fourze, no MEF was later referenced in the show. TaJaDor and Boost debuted in movies, yes, but that doesn't work as the shows themselves get different explanations |

Second they'll refuse to translate certain words and phrases due to either "wanting to teach people Japanese" *which is laughable if you've taken an actual Japanese language course or talked to an actual Japanese person* or because it doesn't have an exact equivalent in the English language or they'll translate it strictly word for word as it's written or said in the Japanese language even if it doesn't translate into English very well because weebism. Thus resulting in terribly structured stiff sentences that make no ************* sense, whereas a good subber/dubber will chose the closest phase or equivalent in the language/country it's being translated in *so for an in my case American example an Osaka/Kansai accent is translated to a Texan/Southern accent,san/sensei becomes Mr/Ms and sama/dono becomes lord in a dub* or in some cases rewrite the sentence to make the dialogue more understandable and run smoother to native speakers. Of-course these could probably be ignored as they aren't paid professionals...if they hadn't acted like entitled arrogant shits when SHOUT! Factory started officially subbing Sentai dvds. |
I loooove bashing on TV Nihon but I will admit that their modern subs are a lot better than stuff like Blade. They're still not exactly my first choice when it comes to subs though.

But in other news, I will give TV-Nihon props in their special animations for the Rider Henshins, Form Changes & Special Attacks. |

Also, Double's final episode was good too. I think it's appropriate the show basically has two episodes in a row that both work as a finale. Quote:

Ghost. While I like the show, it's still my least favorite Rider show. Where do I even begin?
I hate it when shows create characters just to be comedic. I like it when the humor comes naturally. Like Kamen Rider W. Akiko was the comedy relief of Kamen Rider W, yet that wasn't her only character trait. She was a hard ass, tough kind of girl that served to consistently break down Shotaro's attempts to be hard-boiled. And it was funny. Because the characters played well off of each other. Look at OOO, which is one of my absolute favorite Rider shows ever. Eiji, Ankh, Date, Goto, etc., ALL played well off of each other because the humor came from the clash between all of these personalities. Even Drive did this well once they started establishing their comic relief as actual characters. It was a clash between several eccentric personalities, each with their own unique thinking. I ESPECIALLY loved the dynamic between Shinnosuke, Gou, Chase and Kiriko. That spit take scene in the Kamen Rider Chaser movie where everybody is freakin' out because Chase is acting unusually upbeat is comedy friggin' gold. So in Ghost, they give us Onari. Can anybody describe Onari's personality other than "he screams a lot...for no reason"..? He has occasional moments of generosity, but it's not something that occurs often. And Makoto. I liked Makoto in the beginning but he honestly has no personality now. 40 episodes in and I can't tell you what Makoto's defining character traits are. Then there's the fact that we still keep getting victim of the week plots 40 episodes in that don't tie into the story in any meaningful way. Why? At this point in the show we should already be past any major plot developments and the show should be starting to up the stakes. Honestly the whole middle section of Ghost feels like a total blur outside of Alain joining the good guys. And that's because the overarching story has barely progressed. |

Personally, I don't care as long as it's coherent.
Why do I prefer TV-Nihon? Because they're not some wordpress blog that I have to scroll through 12 pages worth of posts to find X or Y. I enjoy how well organized they keep their site and torrents. No comment on quality. |

I have a bit of a rant for the Heisei KR seasons I've seen thus far that are Pre-Decade.
(Please keep in mind this is all subjective) To Kuuga, Agito, 555, and Kiva... the only Pre-Decade non-Den-O seasons I have watched... Goddamn, you guys are slow as balls. Maybe I was spoiled by the style that came across in Den-O and the Neo-Heisei seasons, but by god are these slow. The pacing is like at 1/2 speed. It is quite simply, boring. A whole lot of nothing was the main chunk of the episode coupled with an important plot point that takes longer to get to the point than a fat guy takes to run 5 miles. (Odd comparison I know but I'm angered, I can't think straight XD) I played an episode of Kuuga at 2x speed and missed nothing. Holy crap did I loathe sitting through Kuuga. I gave it hope that maybe it'd get better or maybe I'd get used to the style, but nope! Still as boring as when I started. Let me be clear, with Kuuga and the above seasons I mentioned, it's not that I hate the characters or the story, more often than not I usually like them. It's just at the point where good characters and story can't save a bad execution. I quit Agito about 20 episodes in simply because the payoff to the story didn't feel like it was gonna be worth all the boredom I sat through with Kuuga. With 555 I made it around 20 eps as well, maybe 22 or 23. With Kiva, I just couldn't make it past episode 5. I don't have the fortitude to sit through an adult J-drama with monsters and an insect themed hero. Make it interesting at least. Decade showed you can be serious and interesting with a good pace. Hell, I'll just point to Gaim and say this is how you do serious storytelling at a good pace with Kamen Rider. Okay maybe I was a bit harsh there, but I'm sorry, it's how I feel. Those seasons are all too dry for my taste. Definitely not a fan. One more thing I'd like to rant about if you're still reading... Super Hero Grand Prix, Kamen Rider Sangou... Holy crap was this bad. Why on gods green earth did you take everything that made the OOO Den-O Let's Go Kamen Riders movie crap, and put it into this movie. Timeline related mess? Check Shocker rules the world. UGH. Check None of the returning Riders billed as main characters being interesting? Double check. Oh my god, seriously the worst Kamen Rider film to date. I literally have put Drive on hiatus it was so bad. It has effectively stopped my habits of watching KR for the first time since 2012. Who's bright idea was it again to have Shocker rule the timeline, but never show how it changes Kamen Rider(Or I guess Shocker Rider) history? Was Helheim still a thing? How different was the final showdown in Gaim? What about the sabbath? You can't honestly tell me Haruto fights for hope in the name of Shocker. What was the Sonozaki family's status in all this? Did Decade end up detroying the AR Worlds and live up to his title as the destroyer of worlds? Did Godai f******* Yusuke still manage to control his final form fighting for smiles and still fight for Shocker? None of these questions were answered. Nada. Ugh... Nothing about this film was good. The cameos sucked, the action left me uninterested so that in turn sucked. The story was a joke. Nothing in Drive was advanced. The ending song wasn't memorable. There is nothing redeemable about this except the brief moments when you see your favorite Rider suit voiced by some complete stranger who clearly isn't the original actor and.... Aye... I'm gonna give myself an aneurysm if I go on. Okay I'm done. Rage off and sleepy mode on... |

I can agree with someone if they point out the few good stories Ghost has, same with the characters. Alain is well handled, Akari is a good support character, and the story-arc where they first enter the Ganma World for example is well done. But there's too much bad stuff around it in order to focus on the good things Ghost does and to call its stories and characters "one of the best". The characters are too weak overall, aside from maybe Alain, Akari and Makoto, who all have flaws still, and that's not good enough to be called one of the best. Some of the sub-plots are nice, and some arcs are not terrible, but a good story? Like overall? Absolutely not. If you enjoy something that’s absolutely fine, and I do feel the need to point out that I don’t bear a grudge against anyone who likes Ghost, especially not KyoryuGreen or you, but enjoying someone is one thing, saying that it is good is another. I enjoyed Gaim a lot and I can very much see what people don’t like about it, instances where the show screwed up badly, but I don’t go around and try to tell people that it was all good. And to be perfectly honest, the show might not be as bad as I think it to be, but from what I’ve gathered around the fandom it is definitely not among the best. Quote:

Does it make sense? Nope. Is it well handled? Not particularly, as you said they used a movie villain from another dimension which is kinda ass, but I enjoyed it a lot. Especially the scenes with the supporting cast and little things like Jonouchi using the Matsubokkuri lockseed. |
I mean, if you never watched the movie, then Jam would just be some generic villain guy you got to watch Kouta and Micchy tag team on, which would be good enough for the purposes of the story.
The last episode wasn't about Jam, it was about Micchy trying to become a hero again, and it fit perfectly with the series. |
