He's not necessarily trying to be a goofball - he just happens to be accident prone. He's got one thing he's really good at in life but is unlucky in various other aspects of his life. That's pretty new. The "cosplayer" and the main female are one in the same. It's a nurse who has an identity she's trying to keep secret while working for the ministry of health, again, pretty new. The silly man isn't anyone's boss, he's a coworker studying various diseases, something I'm sure will tie into the story.

You have a brooding character, but he's not necessarily a rival. He doesn't like Emu, but he doesn't fight against him because he thinks Riders need to fight alongside each other against the monsters. That in itself is a fairly rare type of character.

You might not like what you see, but there's no lack of innovation here, and I think you're confusing the two. There's plenty of new in this show and that's evident right from the Level 1 forms, which, like them or not, are new.

Eh...ill have to watch the show to have any solid feelings towards it (obviously)

The trailer did nothing for me personally all I can tell from it is It looks like your typical modern rider show

So that whole post said everything way better than I could (and way less confrontationally), but I'd just like to reinforce that Ex-Aid seems to be about as fresh as you could possibly expect the yearly Kamen Rider show to be without being unreasonable. If you really need something totally different, there's always Amazons.

The whole thing makes me think of the late 80s/early 90s with the neon outfits, and yet like a show I'd see from the late 90s/early 2000s somehow. ^_^

And I'm loving every second of it.

I'm still reserving judgement until the trailer is subbed, but it looks cool and lvl. 2 looks a lot better in action. Ex-Aid does give off a more serious feel than Ghost though, but there was a fish-eye lens so who knows? :p Also, what is the handheld they were playing? Looks like a weird one screen Game & Watch.

Really enjoyed the trailer. Lots of neat stuff, looks like something I would enjoy. Only thing I'm not too fond of are the video game effects. They seem a little obtrusive and their cartoonish look doesn't fit that well imo. I was expecting them to be more like what we saw in the cameo in the Ghost movie, with a more "digital," sorta transparent looking aesthetic. Not sure if I'm explaining myself too well.

Couple of thoughts on the Riders:

-Still convinced the Kujo guy is Lazer. Especially since in his introduction the name was yellow--Lazer's color. Granted, Emu himself had red, but the colors matched for Brave and Snipe.

If so, though, I'm not sure why they haven't actually said anything about it. Especially since it definitely looks like Lazer is going to be in the show from the very beginning. It's not like they're exactly hiding that Lazer is a Rider--he has a face and a belt and everything (though I guess the latter isn't that visible). Guess they're just saving the reveal for TV-Kun or something.

-And speaking of, I was 100% sure the president was GENM, but now I'm not so sure. They really seemed to be aiming to show Parad as a clear parallel of M, since in its limited time the trailer went out of its way to show both as gamers in similar ways. His wardrobe also matches GENM's colors, as does his name's colors (as opposed to the president's gray/black). It also makes sense given GENM's apparent role as a higher-up in the Bugsters' ranks and the fact that we haven't seen Parad's Bugster form.

However, this brings up the question of why then Parad's Kamen Rider form is called GENM and why he uses GENM technology at all. I mean, the whole "shady company responsible for everything" twist is visible from a mile away, but such an obvious connection and the whole thing just feels..weird. But then again, knowing as little as we do now (since the fact that GENM is called GENM hasn't even been officially revealed either) it makes sense that I do not understand nothing.

Anyway, whole thing looks intriguing. I'm looking forward to this show.

That, I disagree with. There are plenty of dumb or awesome ideas to apply to a superhero show about bug-eyed people. Some of us talked about having a doctor show a few years back, minus the added part of it being video game themed (though I'm sure someone brought up that theme alone as well).

Considering they've had detectives twice so far, but besides a red vehicle suit the shows almost completely different, and that we have an Amazon show that looks like the old Amazon on the outside but inside is completely different (such as not being censored by parents, as it's an online show first and won't necessarily be seen by their kids), the show could still use an old idea as a spine for a newer idea to grow over, giving us a fresh show while still having something nostalgic/recognizable about it.

But yeah, Kain is still greatly exaggerating what's going on in the trailer.

I dunno about most of yall but I like what I am seeing so far.

Wait, I thought Lazer was supposed to be a motorcycle that turns into a Rider. Am I missing something?

Lazer is a motorcycle, but only in its Level 2 form, and even then it's still a Rider. It has a humanoid Level 1 form just like everyone else, so my assumption is that he's a normal person whose main Rider form just happens to be a bike.

I could be wrong, of course, but I don't see any reason to think otherwise at the moment (beyond the weirdness of using one of your friends as a Rider Machine, anyway).

There's also a thing posted on TokuConnect that said something along the lines of "four doctors have been chosen to become Kamen Riders." I'm not completely sure where it comes from, but if true the only rider it could possibly be is Lazer, and so it seems likely the doctor in this case would be Kujo.

Gotcha. I thought the four Doctor Riders were Ex-Aid, Brave, Snipe, and Genm.

It didn't really say anything new. Aoi Kurenai already mentioned the interesting bits.

I can't wait. Particularly if it gets... 'serious'.

Am definitely thinking we'll be getting trad two parters with word that the action will be focusing on the patients.

Eh, at this point, I'll take anything over Ghost.

Although, really digging the loud color scheme.

Personally, I'm hoping that this show will be like Gaim in the sense that it gets me to take something that seems really stupid, totally seriously. I can't wait for dramatic level 1 form showdowns that somehow end up being amazing.

This looks like the show story tone will fit better better than ghost. It reminds me of Fourze, i view this as good thing i enjoyed fourze alot.

I would absolutely love it if by the end of the series they go full on Amazons-style fights with chibi suits. It's just the suits waddling towards each other and when they get into punching range, one of them punches a hole through the other's chest.

The cliffhanger for the epiosde before Ex-Aid gets his final form can involve him dying (because of course) and the final shot of the episode is the eyes of the suit going X_X while dramatic music plays and all the supporting characters look on in horror.

Please no. Gaim did a fake death, Drive did a fake death and Ghost has done a total of 4. We don't need another one

Yeah, the protagonist dying is a little played out. How about instead of that the finale involves the main supporting character dying and Ex-Aid's eyes go O_O while dramatic music plays and he shouts their name?

That'd be something new, right? :D

What if all the character's go X's for eyes in a faux armageddon cliffie?

Fourze did too, but my point was that Ex-Aid would be the fourth in a row to do it. Though now that I think about it Wizardragon died for an episode so yeah. Not to mention pulling a fake death after Ghost which had one in the first episode, one at the 14th(?), two in the early 30's (Makoto) and apparently one in the movie would just make people more annoyed. It's like if someone tried to impress Gordon Ramsey with a sandwich, and the guy after him makes a sandwich too in an attempt to compete. It might be better, but it's not winning points in originality nor will Gordon care

The trailer definitely gives me early Heisei vibes, which I'm digging.\

Wait what huh? Makoto? You mean when his Eyecon was destroyed and Takeru and Alain teamed up to go get his real body? Because if you do the show was never treating that like a death. At all. Unless I'm forgetting something pretty major.

I'm just happy to know they still have the compound eyes under there. Now I can focus on how much I love the shade of pink(ish) Ex-Aid is. Eat your heart out, Decade!

I hope this one will be more improvement than Drive and Ghost especially Ghost.

I still have a feeling that Ex-Aid will take a dark turn in latter ones because Gaim didn't start off dark until it reveal of what happens to Kouta's friend who was turn into monster and killed by him. That's dark if you think about it

I don't remember how she acted about it but I do remember Makoto explicitly telling Takeru "Yo, my real body is in the Ganma World, I'm actually just an Eyecon, dude!" shortly before the scene in question. Maybe like a whole episode even? Admittedly, some of Ghost is kind of a blurr even to me so I don't really blame you for forgetting.

Even if he still had a body, he was beaten in battle which everyone saw and was basically stuck in a hostile world, at the mercy of a guy who could snuff him out at any time, and considering how sad everyone is whenever Takeru disappears, yeah Makoto's "death" is counted. Not exactly anymore saddening then when someone is carded in Yu-Gi-Oh!, but it's a "death" none the less.

I really don't think it does. The problem everybody has with Takeru dying is that the show is "faking you out", isn't it? With Makoto the audience knows the whole time he'll be fine, and the characters know he's still alive too, so how does it count?

IIRC, there actually was a certain degree of ambiguity about Makoto at that point. Right before his "death," there had been the whole thing where he went to the Ganma world to get his body back. However, the show didn't actually tell us if he did or did not accomplish that while he was there--he was just going around saying he came to get his body back and then meet Alia/fight Adel, so some of us assumed he just did it off screen. Of course later we learned that's not the case, but at the time, up until his body vanishes and the Eyecon explodes, we didn't really know one way or the other. And of course as they are wont to do, the previews were really pushing the "Makoto's dying" angle.

So it was a little ambiguous for a little bit there. I wouldn't even bet that the showrunners intended that to be the case, but it sorta ended up being that way anyway.
