I'm still not big on the Ex-Aid suit as a toy, but the other two I like, so I'll pick up the three-pack. It's a relief that it's a retail release.

Need this set. Mainly for Ex-Aid. Hoping to split it with my friends, just need someone besides me to start liking Snipe lol.

I think you're just guessing, though. I don't see any reason to believe they're not at least offering Ex-Aid himself alone until it's 100% confirmed that they aren't.

Looks pretty much like I expected.

Lightyears ahead of pre-Gaim stuff, but I think they try to do the layered/compound/translucent effect of the eyes and since it's a toy, the distance between the windows of the eyes and the actual shiny orange of the eyes is way bigger than on the suit, messing with the look. Same for all of them.
And the shape of Ex-Aid's eyes is just off. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. They're shaped more like Genm's eyes. They look vacant as a result.

Yes, it's nitpicking, but Bandai has gotten it perfect before, so it's disappointing when the look is just slightly screwed up by something small like that.

I think I would agree on this, but, I mean, do the Riders even really have any expressive gestures they do that they could make hands of? Other than maybe a finger gun for Snipe just for funsies I can't think of really anything they would do. This isn't like how they didn't include the little finisher/henshin hand gestures with Ghost or Necrom's jacket tugging hand, which did bug me.

I mean...Snipe does do that one thing when he levels up, but that's more a level 1 thing so far.

I may also have to admit that after type Speed any quantity of hands above 2 seems good to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

While it's true that they didn't show them being removed and plugged into things, I think the fact that the weapons and the holder are as bulky as they are, with appropriately sized holes, is an indicator that they can do so. The Driver doesn't appear to be able to close though, yeah. :/

Though to be fair, they only showed the Magnum and Breaker in their alternate forms in one picture out of all this, so it doesn't look like they were that worried about showing off everything they could do too much.

At 14,600 yen, that's less than 4900 a figure. That's around as much the first few Ghost releases where, and almost 1000 yen cheaper than Boost. They're also cheaper than the Amazons. It's actually a pretty decent deal for how much they cost right now.


But yeah, these are pretty bad. The Sword is really perplexing honestly. They apparently are including both the stout big hammer Breaker and the thin sword Breaker, and alternate parts for both forms of the Magnum, so I can't even begin to understand why Brave got shafted on this. He apparently comes with one extra pair of hands than the others, but man, that doesn't really make up for anything.

Snipe's cloak I didn't mind much when I first saw it but the more I stare at it the more I don't like it. It neither looks good (particularly the big piece on the shoulder and the super stiff looking part that droops down) nor appears to do that much for the articulation. It doesn't kill the figure for me but I really wish TN would start experimenting with fabric. It'd make things like these so much easier.


Nah, I don't agree with all of them, but I think your reservations are fair. These are really expensive toys, and some things are fairly questionable. It's fair to expect a little more from them.

I'd say so. As someone who collects SHMA, you haven't seen bad figures. Not perfect, but I'd put these ExAid SHFAs above adequate, on just appearance anyway. Obviously having them in hand will give a better indication of quality.

As long as they are on the lines of the Drive SHFAs I'll be happy.

Ex-Aid is just... no. The head screams for a Shinkocchou Seihou upgrade already. Brave is mostly okay (still some wonky sculpts though), but the sword? Why? I really hope they just didn't photograph it but he needs three different blades, not one with both sides alone. Snipe, as I feared, has to deal with the usual shitty soft shell cape. It looks to be segmented but even with that it just looks off. Other than that he looks cool though, the best of the three IMO.

The rest of them is admittedly well done and I'm happy that the new old hips are back, and the base is pretty neat. It's the Gaim one with a different design but they also implemented ports for the stand arms which is a nice design choice.

But there’s just too much wrong with the figures in my eyes to buy one of them, and then they also only come in a freakin' three pack. Oh boy. I hope these do well because in the past even most Web-Exclusive two-packs landed on clearance on the middleman service I use. Not that that's representative of anything, but I still noticed it.

I'm sad to skip these since Ex-Aid is a fun show and I wanted at least Ex-Aid himself for my collection, but I can’t justify buying this, there's just too much that I don’t like about all of them.

I hope others enjoy the figures more though, it looks like most people don't have the problems with the figures I have which is awesome. I hope your excitement from the moment you first saw them here carries over to the fun you'll have once you get them in hand :)

And maybe, just maybe they do more Riders from the show and I like these more. Genm comes to mind.

Potential good news for people who don't want to buy all three of these guys at once. The product page includes a line (second bolded one down in details) which, assuming my translations aren't being total garbage, appears to say that this is a special set released ahead of the normal releases. Which...makes sense? Rider releases for the new shows do usually start around April.

So it looks like this is in fact a special Limited set, which...makes sense, cause it was labeled a special limited set. Which is, you know, weird, but I'm still cool with it. I hope it isn't that limited though because I still want to buy these guys asap.

Also noting, based on that page, it appears to say that preorders start on the 31st. So there's something to look out for.

I just hope there ARE normal releases of the figures, as I only collect main Riders and only require Ex-Aid himself in my collection.

I was in for an ex-aid but there is no way in hell im in for a three pack at that time next year. Their is just too much coming out in that time period

Read barnstenchfartface's post on the last page, it looks like the 3-pack will be an early bird special pack of some kind, they may release them separately starting in April like they do it every year for some time now.

Isn't Brave's sword screen accurate though? Why are people complaining. IIRC, it had one side fire, one side ice that just fkipped around in his first fight using it. Maybe I'm misremembering.

It had two different sides when Brave pressed the button and the blade turned, but in the next shot it was ice on both sides. Same when he switched back.

So it's technically not wrong, however he would never fight with this blade, it needs the additional two blades with two matching sides.

And they might be included, we don't know yet but it's a bit worrying to only see this blade so far.

Argh! The set goes up for pre-order on Monday??? I'm all-in for Ex-Aid, but it's too early to make a decision on all three riders. There have only been 4 episodes of the show so far!

Do I gamble with the possibility of a single Ex-Aid release in April, or do I bite the bullet and invest in all three without even knowing if I really like the characters?

It's retail, so pretty much all the usual ones work like that. AmiAmi, HLJ, Hobbysearch...they don't charge you until it's in stock. Though orders won't open until the 31st it looks like.
