Last week I was not looking forward to this movie. Last night I was not in to this movie. Today, however, I am. Why? Because this looks amazing in the best way for the worst way. If this is just a small sample of the toys for this and they look mediocre, I can't wait. This looks like it could be the next "Jem and the Holograms" and I'm looking forward to it.

I'm kind of hoping that, if it is bad, it's that bad, just so it loops back round to enjoyably bad.

I have to agree with Matrixbeast on this one. If you told me that was an alternate design from Age of Extinction I would have handed you a Bud Light and nodded. Here's hoping the story doesn't wind up as generic. And please, please lets not make it Jem and the Dinosaurs.

I also have to make a serious remark about misappropriation of Sentai legacy in this one. The whole point of the original Sentai was about it being fun and kitschy. Somewhere that got lost in translation for the Hollyweird treatment. At least Saban is getting it back on track in the TV series.

Hollywood's bland vision is a terrible thing and they need to stop doing this Iron Man shit with everything; it's gotten OLD.

Going to MCM on Sunday so if I get the chance to see them in person I'll report back.

The morpher looks pretty good, so I'll definitely be getting that.

The t-rex zord doesn't look too bad imo. Not sure if it's the "main" version, but it definitely looks like it has some morphing capabilities. Those are definitely connection points for something on it's legs.

I kinda like the idea of releasing the zords seperately, so I'd be ok with this being the main version. Probably gives them more budget to work with each zord, and I like the mini-figure.

Guys, where's teh picture of the T-Rex zord? All I'm seeing is Bayformers Grimlock repainted.

I don't mind the T-rex's design I just wish BoA had used more paint.

I hope not. I want the movie to do well and make Power Rangers into a bigger franchise. With Transformers after 2007, it became a series that people can take seriously now and just looking it as a dead franchise from the 80's.

Do we have an idea as to what the thing on top of the morpher is? I think it's a switch to make the coins spin, but it seems so obtrusive.

I mean, a barely painted toy that is likely the "budget" version isn't exactly the best piece to make that judgement on.

Two things:

1) The giant toe-claw makes the red zord look like a Velociaptor, not a T-Rex.
2) The morpher looks exactly like a black repaint of Agito's henshin belt.

These seem to be fine to me. I'm sure the Zords will have eyes at least in the proper film models. Can't quite figure out how it transforms. Obviously the back-gun plays no part in it. I guess the tail just comes off (and maybe is a sword), and maybe it makes like Voltron and puts its whole lower legs up the asses of the tiger and triceratops. I don't think the Zord head is hiding a Megazord head in it though.

It does look like there is some detailing on the mid section that the gun pegs into, you can kinda see it behind the leg, that could be the front details/windows of the chest.

This isn't the normal one. It's the big action feature toy. It doesn't transform.

As everyone else has said, this is just red Grimlock. I understand the alien vibe they were going for, but directly copying the aesthetic of Transformers was not the way to achieve that. I hope some paint apps are added to this guy before a final release. Definitely more pleased overall with the morpher, which at least retains its original shape.

It's an alien interpretation of a dinosaur, not an actual dinosaur.

I guess, like Transformers, the aliens/machines came from outer space and adapted their form to what they saw on Earth (while still maintaining some of their original aesthetic). Presumably Zordon used them to defend the Earth in prehistoric times and they've been laying dormant since?

I'd also argue that Daleks look less alien than these zords (outwardly anyway), lol.

News flash, T-Rex has feathers and wasn't exactly the completely terrifying lizard beast you remember.

Humans aren't idiots, though. We weren't there, so we can only come up with approximations based on rocks and bones from the era. Based on Zordon and Rita's history, they were, and yet this is what they came up with.

Even if thats there explanation I find it highly inconsistent that they look more normal on the power coins than they do as zords.

Counter argument: 20 years ago it wasn't a widely accepted fact and what was presented in media was widely accepted as true in the scientific community.

Fair point. Maybe they know more about what dinos look like than we do. Who knew T-Rex had cannon arms and a laser gun on its back? :D

Also a fair point. Although, really. I'm withholding judgment until the movie is given a chance to explain itself.

Interestingly the 3 Dino Sentai teams show the progress of our knowledge on Dino's by their T Rexes.
Zyuranger was the classic lumbering Kangaroo, Abaranger moved to the modern theropod gait and Kyoryuger finished with Gabutyra having feathers on his head.

Regardless of scientific accuracy, I think an upright design would've allowed them to be more reminiscent of the original while keeping the alien look.

Humans aren't aliens with supposedly super-advanced technology capable of creating giant metal dinozords and morphing human beings into Iron Man ripoffs.

it's almost like this movie's art direction is just incredibly bland and unoriginal, as evident by it's obvious aping of a style popularized by another successful franchise based around converting robots.

That's my thing. The toy looks trash; I'm not denying that. I'm only defending the actual dinosaur design, which I don't see much of a problem with personally.

People are just looking for reasons to be disappointed. They both want the movie to be good (or at the very least say they do), but want to find things to complain about/trash it over.
