Power Rangers is lost! PERIOD. It needs to get back on track!
The way the show is being handled right now SUCKS! I seriously don't know what is happening behind the scenes for the show to be at the quality it is right now... |
^ I agree. Something must be happening behind the scenes. It's easy to bash Tzachor and Lynn but we can't forget they are working for someone else. Maybe all the messy decisions taken with the latest seasons came from ppl in a higher rank, idk, it's a possibility. It's quite obvious the ppl working in New Zealand doesn't have the same freedom they had during the Disney era.

it tzachor did poor zyuranger footage for power rangers s1
i want see back stories of powers ranger team |
Based on the credits, it would appear that Chip Lynn took a backseat in the writing department for Dino Supercharge, while he was at the forefront for Dino Charge. That would indicate the change in tone and pacing for Dino Supercharge as opposed to Dino Charge.
I guess the disappointment is that Power Rangers Productions LLC in New Zealand brings in interns to write for the show. That isn't meant to take away from any amazing stories that they write but for older fans it basically means a rotating door on some of the writers never giving you any consistency. |
It definitely has lost its edge. I'm not even watching anymore. There's nothing there for older fans to enjoy over the past 6 years.

The sad thing is that the franchise will always be viewed as a joke by many. Hell I think people respected My Little Pony even more than Power Rangers.

I think you're not going to make everyone happy. Saban Brands has to walk a delicate edge with the franchise. They have to keep it child-friendly so parents don't call in and get the show cancelled, they want to capitalize on our nostalgia to help make money and keep us interested, and you can't make everyone happy all the time. Samurai I can forgive being a carbon-copy of Shinkenger. Saban just got the franchise back, no real time to create a new season from scratch, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on that one. Megaforce/SMF though is another story. There are a myriad of ways they could've done the season better and the transition into Gokaiger. But it wasn't all a horror how, remember? Vrak was the brilliant bright spot in that season. His character, his VO, were both things of absolute beauty. DC and SDC were good to. Den explaining why SDC had pacing problems make them make more sense now. As for Heckyl.. I genuinely liked this character the whole way through. The only thing I want them to explain is why they skipped ToQger for Ninninger. Remember back when they were doing Goseiger for MF and they said they're not allowed to skip seasons? What changed? Why did it change? Was it solely because they thought Ninja's would sell better than Trains? But then also why did they skip Go-Busters completely. That's what I want an explanation for. But back to my original point. There will never be a perfect season because of the tightrope they have to walk. But that's okay. "A thing isn't beautiful because it lasts" is my favorite line from Age of Ultron. And a thing isn't beautiful because it's perfect.
Power Rangers won't last forever and it's not perfect. But I love it all the same. |
It may not be perfect, but PR has done genuinely good shows before.
Hilariously, they were all at points where the franchise was gonna be canned so they were allowed to do something new. In Space was going to cap off the entire franchise, Time Force was because they were unsure whether they were going to be able to have another series until Disney stepped in, and RPM because Disney had gotten tired of the franchise... Because there's no worry of imminent cancellation because Nick is throwing money at them, they don't have to worry over the possibility of franchise fatigue (Which has already set in, I feel), and change things up out of necessity to remain relevant. They're not walking a tight rope. They found a path, and they're sticking to it rather than even considering venturing another way. |

What I can't get over, however, is the lack of passion that oozes from these neo-Saban shows. It really gives me the feeling that the showrunners translate children being the target audience as not having to put effort in their show. |

Well, at least in the early 90's, I can give the showrunners the benefit of the doubt as they still experimenting with the show and that most children's shows at that time were nothing more than fancy 20 minute long toy commercials.
But you have a point that the showrunners back then only started to make truly good seasons after the show was near cancellation. If that logic does apply nowadays, we can only hope (Super) Ninja Steel is that season that does so badly, that it brings the show near cancellation. Or, more optimistically, Dino (super)charge was that season already, making Ninja Steel the franchise savior. |
They lost their edge since season 2 of the Mighty Morphin saga.
For all it's faults in the beginning due to using more sentai footage the fights were more brutal, there was more punching and explosions and sparks flying everywhere etc. Once Rangers started to rely more and more on original footage all of the "edge" the first season had was gone. Every fight scene in the first season of MM looked and felt more brutal than pretty much everything that came after it. That doesn't make the rest of it bad, in fact most of my fav PR series are the ones that deviate HEAVILY from the Sentai stuff like RPM and Space but that comes down to the story and characters being written well more competently. But as far as the neo-Saban era goes? I think the franchise is complete garbage right now. PR was never high art, and was always "that weird tv show that was big at one point but now is just riding former glory but it's ok for kids to watch I guess" so an almost literal parody. The Neo-Saban series are like what cartoons in cartoons look like. I honestly don't see things getting better anytime soon unless we get writers and show runners that want to actually make a watchable show instead of just "put some fight scenes together and improvise the dialogue in between". |

Disney may have had its flaws with their excessive censorship (turning bullets/shurikens into lasers for example) and their lack of promotion for their later seasons, but their seasons themselves range from being okay to outright good, with only PROO being poor. |
You maybe right but, Disney seasons wasn't epic like Old Saban seasons was.

I know it’s all subjective. |
I think RPM is the most epic season of the Disney Era.
