I really don't see why everyone is so excited for this thing. The ranger suits look perfectly fine but that mecha just looks bad. Individually they're fine, but those orbs just kill it for me in the combined mode. Ninninger and ToQger could both incorporate their gimmick without it being so invasive, but this just looks like they couldn't figure out how to incorporate the gimmick so they just stuck the orb onto the rear of all the individual mecha and used them as connectors for the combined mode. Personally I would've only kept one of the orbs for the combined mode, the one in the chest, and made it to where you could swap it out with other orbs for different powers. Then the Shishi wouldn't be compromised to have 4 clamps on it, and we could get better and more unique limbs other than an animal head as a fist or the most generic animal mecha foot configuration ever. But what do I know, kids will probably love this thing regardless.

I'm not in love with the mecha, I just think it's decent. Inoffensively average I suppose. However, most of the zords resemble actual things, even though the lion doesn't, but honestly I thought it was supposed to be a lion-motifed spaceship.

But dude, they're not blocks! Like literal, actual blocks. With numbers, like the kind you give to toddlers. They have detail, they look mechanical, they put priority on being identifiable robotic representations of things and not a half-hearted pixel aesthetic that kinda exists kind but not consistently. The robot also at least attempts a heroic look and proportions. Yeah the orbs throw things off and it's still a big ol' chunko, but it's chunky in a way that looks at least strong and heroic and not just chunky because of bits of zord that have nowhere to go.

Yeah, the face is generic, but at least the helmet isn't ridiculously oversized. (the shape of the head reminds me of Bragigas, though. Not a bad thing just a coincidence I suppose) And most of all, it ditches the quasi-cutesy sculpts, one-hue-too-light primary colours, and adds real robotic details. Hell, when was the last time we actually saw silver in prominence on a main mecha?

Is it the best thing ever? No. Is it better than the garbage we've been getting since Kyoryuger? Hell yeah. It's all minor stuff that comes together to give the air of slightly more sophistication than the last three or so years.

And I love the Mecha (even with the orbs) because it reminds me of Biklonz Infinity, which in my book is never a bad thing.

The rangers look pretty nice. I wish the black area ended at the belt, rather than having an odd strip of their color between the black area and the belt. Oh well.

I want to see more, though. Maybe getting a better shot of all their mecha might change my opinion.

Also, just had this thought: does this guy not have a sword? I mean I know the right arm is a swordfish but wordplay (that isn't even there in Japanese) won't disguise such a blatant break in tradition. Even Zyuoh King had his butter knife.

Yeah, all of this looks very Chinese Toku to me. Which is sort of surprising, but definitely not a bad thing.

I'll be honest, not too fond of the fact that we're going back to the modular limb design of many, many past Super Sentai mechas. I kinda wish they experimented with it a little more than just that. But I'm loving the suit designs! Hell, besides their helmets, some of them have something pretty unique about their design. Like it's obvious that OushiBlack is the bulkiest out of the nine, but TenbinGold also has the biggest shoulder pads after him, WashiPink has what appears to be wings on her back, and that the Green Ranger is the shortest. I'm sure that when we get actual photos of the show suits and clearer pictures of the toys that we'll be able to see more differences between the Rangers, but so far I'm loving them! And I love their modular weapon and how it can change based on what they prefer. Like I'm always a sucker for modular weapons like that (the Dengasher and Gan Gun Saber are some of my favorites). And that their blaster/morpher is shaped like a dollar-store laser gun, I love that.

I hope that their future mechas will be like the Gaoranger Power Animals and that we can get different torso mechas too.

Digging that main robo. And those suits are so out there but in a good way. Ill wait to see more clearer scans before i get to overly excited and get my hopes up.

But that was the whole aesthetic with zyuohger. I mean, they gave those cubes so much detail im actually surprised. And turning a cube into an animal isnt easy. Like kudos to plex for not making them all the same transforming cube. They mostly all transform differently.

Lol just watch them from actually looking sophisticated to having super simplified transformations like flipping up the head to become a leg and stick it on there. And another limb swap series?? I kinda find those boring. It what turned me off from collecting toqger, boukenger, and abaranger stuff.

TBH this has the shape gimick from Zyuohger done better IMO

I dig it. The chunky legs look a little weird on the combined mecha, but in general it's pretty great look. Quite excited to see where this goes now.

So some personal thoughts:
- Tenbin Gold and Oushi Black's suits are in line with Gosei Knight's to a certain degree in terms of the armored look. You can also notice that certain rangers share similar details suit-wise while others don't. Perhaps these subtle differences indicate the "role" a certain ranger plays?
- The way they number the rangers for the sofubi toys, The core 5 are odd numbers and the B Squad(as I like to call them) are even numbers. I wonder why.
- The thigh cuffs are back baby! These were not used since Bioman? Right?

Huh, ya know it just occurred to me that their changer is pretty much a fusion of the two main changers from Kyoryuger, a gun and Gold's bracer. I can dig it.

Well I defenitly like what I am seeing so far. The suits look really nice and I can't believe we are starting with nine rangers from the get go. It's pretty exciting and I can't wait to see how many more rangers we're gonna get. The mecha actually leave off a good impression for the first time in a while for me. Everything about KyuRanger so far is leaving a good impression on me. Hopefully the show will be good.

This all gives me a much better first impression than Zyuohger did. Those costumes look really cool! Kyurenoh's combination is pretty simple and it's proportions are a little goofy but I still like it.

I thought this as well, and I'm not sure why.

The English translation for Uchu Sentai Kyuranger is SPACE SQUADRON NINE RANGER. That "Nine Ranger" part is kindly worried me because it would require the writers to give each 9 Ranger their different personality and their own FOCUS episode and I think they would give everything to Red Ranger and treated other Rangers as his sidekick! Kyoryuger did that before! I means you got 9 Rangers to give to and you still give every mecha or weapon to Red Ranger! Why?! The world may never know!

Please whoever going to write Kyuranger, Don't make Kyuranger Kyoryuger 2.0! Just don't!

And please make Pink, Orange, Gold and Silver Ranger as Main Characters rather than supporting characters because it's called SPACE SQUADRON NINE RANGER! Duh!

So far I like Oushi Black he really stands out from the rest of the team.

Also he remind me of Black Knight from gingaman which was my favorite of that Sentai.

I wait until we see clear photos of everything and then I decide if I wanna collect.

I'd take a simple transformation that looks good in the end over some "clever" gimmick that nerfs the aesthetics and functionality.

The only thing I agree with is another limb-swap bot. But it's only confirmed limb-swap to start. We could get more involved combinations later.

The only pause I have about this line of toys is the KyuTama. They are cool no doubt, but I hope more than just the initial 9 have mecha that correspond to the other 42.

I don't want a Jyudenchi situation where the others are just attacks and sounds. Not all of them have to be mecha because that's a lot, but more.

I also just noticed the star field on the Rangers visors. I wondered why they had this blue-ish hue to them, and seemed to sparkle. It's like Kamen Rider Meteor's suit was. That's clever.

Unless it wasn't? I mean, they wanted something simple and slightly cutesy that would appeal to the kiddies, so they made a bunch of simple blocks that turned into simple and cutesy representations of animals and became giant robots through simple transformations based on the cutesy concept of stacking the aforementioned blocks. They basically accomplished exactly what they were going for, and that's "fucking horrible"?

But this years gimmick kinda nerfs the aesthetics of the robo.... and zyuohgers robo basically did what a sentai robo usually does in terms of functionality other than being literal blocks.

I hope to god we do because limb swapping gets boring after the first 2 limb swap combinations.

Are you sure? A starfield visor would no doubt be cool, but I'm leaning toward that being a reflection effect. Would love to be wrong though.

I'm curious about the pecking order implied by the promotional images we've seen so far, heavily emphasizing and grouping together Red and Orange (Black and Blue secondarily), while Yellow, Pink, Green, and Silver hang out at the back together. I assume that green and pink were de-emphasized due to sexism, but I'm curious as to why Silver and Yellow seem to share that. I'm wondering whether Red will be the commander of both teams, or if Orange is his equal. I'm also wondering whether Yellow will be replaced by a female yellow hero over the course of the series. If there's one Sentai series that can afford to have a member die or (more likely) go evil, it's this one.

Then again, the grouping in couple of photos we've seen could also just be color balancing.

One wild random thought I have is what if they are a crew akin to Star Trek, etc.
Imagine Red being a Captain Kirk kinda guy with Orange being the Spock of the show and sorta in a rivalry with Red.

They probably won't be using ALL 88 constellations to be honest. I mean, there's officially 100 Power Animals for Gaoranger, but they've only shown a few of them in the series.
