"Tokusatsu" means "special effects" programming, so it includes any Japanese TV/Movies that feature special effects, but over time the term "tokusatsu" has become commonly understood as humans that henshin and/or have a giant mecha.

Another great gallery. Once more this is another figure that channels the golden days of toys from way back, having a great nostalgic feel to it. I've said it before but I love beetle-inspired designs, though I gotta say I like his normal mode way better.

it's Datas older cousin! Run!

Imagin in a world were Kabuteck was adapted for Big Bad BettleBorges
Really cool toy, thanks for sharing!
this thing is adorable!
I try but I can not like this one, just to simple for my liking though it does have a better face in its normal form than Kabutack. I will never understand why they give robots like these flesh colored faces/heads. So far out of the five superchange figures I have seen, Spider is the best followed very closely by Cobra and Horseshoe Crab tied for second, Kabutack in fourth then Kuwajiro in last.

That is very cute
Interesting little thing. I do like the stylistic change from the normal and super modes. From more of a cutesy, chibi look to a kinda badass more "realistic" design.
This is definitely a weaker figure, though that may be because the rectangular design doesn't allow for a streamlined (and I use that term loosely) one like Kabutack.
These are pretty cool but the transformation for this one doesn't seem as involved as the others. Wonder if they'd ever go back and make masterpiece-style figures of these just because? Haha.
Very Gimmick-y, would be a nice office toy to play around from time to time.
I preffer that blue turtle from earlier, but this is fun looking too.
That super mode was super fantastic.
I like the way this one looks. For some reason though he looks more sidekick in design at least when compared to the red one.
I Really am loving these figures, wish I could afford to pick them up
I love this line, theyre all so cute!
You can definitely tell that this is a late 90s toy haha. I love the design of it.
Not my style but cute
Big fan of G1 Transformers = big fan of these guys. I especially like the design of their supermodes.
Oh my god, my best friend had this guy when we were kids. I remember playing with it.
he had a lot of other characters from the series too. they were really weird, but fun to mess around with and transform. pretty sure his were all bootlegs though since he bought them from a store renowed for selling cheap knock offs. This was a fun little blast from the past to read. and now I know more about where this weird little guy came from :) |
Man, this line. I love the cute little chibi modes and the humanoid robo men. that reall cool that they did 2 types of beetles for the show.
Pretty cute/cool!
Not the biggest fan of silly faced beetles but I can't help but love insect type things, so I'll give this guy a thumbs up.
Just too silly for my taste
Pretty cool looking in it's more serious mode. Not a big fan of the more cute mode it's got... Something about the eyes bothers me...
Never can get enough of robotic insects.
It is very simple, but I guarantee that this would be tons of fun I actually had it.
I actually had to double take at first because I couldn't tell you transformed this.
I think the green looks kinda flat here, but outside of that another good looking mecha
