Episode 6
O.K. a nice amount of beautiful women (👁🍬...😉) Not much going on besides the introduction of Zero & The Priestess (Album Dropping Soon 😆) Nothing left to do but strap in and see where this ride takes us. |
So magic has a smell apparently, they made that a thing. Okay then.
Well as episode go it was a bit of a breather until the action starts up again, That can be a good thing I guess, especially since it looks like they're going big in the next one based on the preview. Kagome's backstory was pretty good, although I am wondering if her brother wanted her to get stronger more than she did. and apparently she's not use to people calling her pretty. seems like a weird character trait to me(and I realize I'm probably not using the right word there, it was the only thing I could thing of). Although right Kagome does sort of remind me of how Rekka was when we first met her, just in her determination, or single mindedness depending on how you want to look at it, to get what she wants, no matter the consequence. I wouldn't be surprise, if she survives the series, if Rekka doesn't take her under her wing like Jabi did her. |
Episode 6 was better than 5, but still not as good as the first four episodes. Alice is really getting on my nerves as she is as bright as coal. "I know people are trying to kill me or kidnap me, but I'm going to go out and take pictures, kay? Cool, bye."
And now we have another female character that is already grating my nerves. Why is this season unable to provide competently written female characters? Oh god she eats like a pig! I'm also disappointed that we didn't get a lick of suit action this episode. |
Like I figured: after last week's set-up this was pretty much wall-to-wall action. We got sword fights, we got an armored fight (with Rei's horse and Goro-chan riding what looked like a kirin with rocket orbs in its talons), and some actors vs. CGI doo-dads fights. I'm not sure where this one ranks overall in terms of Garo action scenes, but I'd say it ends up fairly high on the list.
Oh, and Alice did a stupid thing again. Because of course she did. The episode's ending really surprised me. I don't believe that Goro-chan is really dead; I'm sure he'll be back for the finale. I'm really surprised that they killed off Kagome. I wasn't necessarily expecting her to be a major character in future shows or movies but I was definitely not expecting her to die halfway through this series. It's a pity, as I feel like there was a lot of potential that we'll never get to see fulfilled now. Anyway, looks like we're back to the more episodic MotW adventures next week. |
Episode 7: This was balls to the wall action packed episode. Which was totally awesome. I loved Rekka and Kagome together though it was sad what happened to Kagome. This almost felt like the final episode with that fight but it wasn't as dramatic as I thought it would be and you know the egg hasn't hatched either so this is definitely not the end. Rei was fantastic and kicked ass, I can't wait for more.
|
Yup all action episode after the previous one. Little shocked by the ending though, trying to remain spoiler free here, I'm pretty sure the show's not over yet so there will probably be a twist at some point near the end, maybe even the next episode. Speaking of, looks like they might be going more into Alice's background a bit more if I'm understanding the preview right. Oh and hopefully the beginning is the closest we get to a flashback episode with the series being so short.

Episode 8. I freaking loved this one. It's another MotW episode and the ending fight with the giant puppy centipede in the CGI room was awesome, as was the pre-transformation fight (I never thought I would see a gothic lolita sword, but apparently that's a thing). That wasn't what I liked so much, though.
I really, really enjoyed all of the Rei and Alice scenes this week; the stuff with the two of them just walking around and taking photos. Alice still makes bad decisions, but I still enjoyed her scenes with Rei a lot. It's a little rushed because of the show's lower episode count, but I can buy into this romance. The bit where she was taking his picture was really cute. I felt like we were getting some character death flags near the end of the episode, though. I'm not sure we're going to see Snaggletooth Khaleesi make it out of here alive. |
We watched episodes 7 and 8 tonight and I'm starting to be less impress with this show as it goes on. Most of it has to do with Alice because seriously, what the hell girl?! All she cares about are her own selfish needs and desires without giving a damn if it effects everyone else and the world or not. Not to mention she is so freaking ugly looking. She has no emotional range. WHen the bar tender opened the door up to talk to her she just gave a blank stare. HOW ABOUT ACTING FOR A CHANGE!! That's what you are there for you stupid moron!
Now the battle in episode 7 was really badass. I really loved the slow motion-like scenes for the end there. Too bad they only killed off Kagome though because Alice's character shield was only full blast. It's a shame that she was buried deeper than her development. Of course, at least she had development compared to the Dragon Knight, who is hands down the most useless Garo villain to date. Even the villains the TOWSID had better development than this dumbass. I'm not saying he had to have a tragic backstory but come on people. I did enjoy the Horror in episode 8, but once again, half of the episode was wasted for that stupid little brat. UGH!! I would have rather watched 10 minutes of her killing different people than suffered 10 minutes of "Alice's Adventures of Picturing Taking with Bad Settings Turned On." So far Zero, its music, and cinematography are the things carrying this show because the narrative sure as hell ain't doing it. I just hope things turn around for the remaining 5 episodes. |
Episode 8: I might be the only one but I just love Alice and Rei together, that was just so interesting and fun to see them together taking pictures of each other. It was interesting to try to get more into Rei's head here. I definitely see this being a different twist like what happened with Kouga and Kaoru. The dragon was so adorable I can't wait to see what happens with this. The battle was awesome and Rei kicked ass like normal, that was spectacular. I can't wait for more.

It's the fact that EVERY frame she is in, she is standing with her legs wide apart in A frame. What is she an action figure? Seriously. Watched up to current, and that is the one thing that bothers me more than the lack luster buildup to Eggmageddon. And I really liked Kagome. |

Can't say I minded it, though. Didn't mind it at all... |

just got around to watching the episode itself. I'm guessing a bit of a palette cleansing episode before the story of the dragon itself kicks into high gear. The bits with Rei and Alice where nice, although I am trying to remember when anybody mentioned Rei wasn't his real name and talked about his past. I'm assuming at this point it was something off screen. |

I meant in Dragon Blood itself and I knew his history, but thanks any way.

Watched episode 9 tonight and good god, seriously? This is beating a dead horse, but good god does Alice suck. First off, Khaleesi she is not. Secondly, all I wanted to hear someone say when she was "staring" at the baby dragon was, "There is no dragon," because holy fuck she wasn't even staring at it, but off into the distance with her blank stare. Also, good god, seriously, stop smiling girl!! You should never smile until you see a dentist!! UGH!
Also, when Zero was trying to decide whether or not to search for Alice or go after the Horror I said, "Just go after the Horror as Alice will end up stumbling onto it and then you will have solved both problems." And then about 10 minutes later, BOOM!, she's there. WTF?! Anyway, the stuff that dealt with the Horror itself was quite interesting. Never expected to see a woman with crabs. :lol Her main form looked like something pulled out of Dark Souls. Watching Zero untransform to get rid of the crabs was interesting and it answers the question as to whether or not the timer resets every time they transform. I know this show only has like 4 episodes left, but I cannot wait for it to be over. This has to be by far the most polarizing series ever. There are so many good ideas ruined by idiotic stuff like Alice and the utterly pointless Dragon Knight. Once again, why couldn't they develop him? |
Really liked the latest episode. The baby dragon is adorable and I liked the scenes with it and Alice, although I'm definitely still getting the sense that the show is setting us up for a tragic ending here.
The Horror this week was great, too. Legitimately creepy and actually a decent threat that really challenged Rei. It was nice to see him have to really go all-out to defeat this one. |
Episode 9: Loop is so adorable! I just love how cute he is. This is probably the best Alice has been this season and I love how they act with each other. I am intrigued to see where it goes with Loop though.
I am enjoying Rei's concern for Alice here and also enjoyed that we got two transformed fight scenes this episode. Sheesh, Rei moves like he knows the dodge timing in a video game perfectly, he's freaking amazing. Also, that finishing with him lighting his armor on fire was freaking amazing. I can't wait for more. |
Another good one this week. I especially liked getting some origin on Goro-chan, which was both kinda touching and visually engaging. I think either the dialogue or translation was a little off, though, as I'm not sure they explained what's going on with Alice as well as they could have. I think they were saying that the dragon has her under some kind of mental compulsion, but that wasn't very clear.

I wish Rekka would kiss me like that. 😁
|
Oh yeah, I forgot to post that I watched episode 10. It was lame. This show just keeps getting worse. Like the Dragon Knight makes no sense to me. It was nice we finally got a back story to him, but if he was there to fight Horrors, why did he decide to betray humanity and want to kill them? That was never explained. Also, seriously Alice, close your damn legs, no one wants to **** you and your horrendous teeth!
|
Episode 10: This was totally phenomenal. I loved Edel's back story and just kind of loved him being raised by a dragon and becoming the Dragon Warrior Hero. He's also a fantastic villain right now, but former Kamen Rider actors do make great villains in GARO. I cannot wait for the next fight between Edel and Rei though, that ending was such a cocktease. I feel sympathetic to Alice but I am still wondering if she is being possessed by the dragon too. Also, Rekka anger was good to see and I enjoyed Rei trying to help save Alice as well. I can't wait for more.

Garo, I will generally accept most of the sillier things you do, but giant brush cannons? Bridge too far.
But yeah, another good episode. We got the rest of Goro-chan's backstory, which does engender some sympathy towards him in me: dude just wanted to hang out with his freaky dragon family but a bunch of assholes had to come along and ruin things. The episode is mostly fight scenes and, as usual, they work well. Not hugely surprised by the twist at the end, as it was pretty obviously telegraphed last week, but I was briefly shocked when I thought Loupe had bitten Goro-chan in half instead of just grabbing him. |
I'm going to spoiler text this because a lot of big things happened this week that I did not see coming and I don't want to ruin it for anybody.
So, yeah, Alice is the show's villain. All the times she stupidly wandered into the path of a Horror? Bait to get Rei to come save her and keep her close until he found the egg. Foolishly putting herself in Goro-chan's path repeatedly? Done consciously so she can get back to the egg. Stealing the egg and trying to raise the baby dragon? Not the horribly misguided actions of a complete idiot, but rather her securing her bond with Loupe so he can help her realize her dream of BURNING DOWN THE ENTIRE FUCKING WORLD IN CLEANSING DRAGON FIRE! Maybe I missed something the rest of you did, but holy crap this threw me for a loop because I did not see this twist coming. I pretty much wrote Alice off as Diet Kaoru for most of the series. She was artistic and a little spacey, she had awful luck with stumbling into monsters, and she found a way to connect to the heart of the titular Makai Knight. There was a point where I started suspecting her around mid-season, but the writers did such a good job of passing her off as kind of an airhead so I started to assume I was mistaken and she was just a normal, albeit kind of stupid girl. I've even been assuming for the last few weeks that she was going to die tragically to give Rei some cheap pathos (and, to be fair, she probably is still going to die next week but really not in any way I ever expected). I really didn't expect her to actually have this big of an ulterior motive and I sure as hell didn't expect to see her become a new dragon knight and announce her arrival by shanking Rekka (who probably won't die, although I'm not putting anything past this show right now). I'm honestly not sure how the show ends this story. I assume Rei is going to have to kill Alice but I have no idea how he takes down the dragon 1v1 (maybe let the armor timer expire? I can't remember if he's ever done that before or not - it would've been in Black Blood and I try to forget everything about that show that I can). Either way, I am really excited for the finale now. |

Episode 11: Loved Rekka and Rei fighting against Edel. Edel is something else and totally into Dragons. Great battle between Edel and Rei. Also Loop looks freaking fantastic. I can't wait for more.
|
Did Alice just stabbed Rekka in the buttocks? 😯
|
Episode 12: Well um shit...That was a crazy heel turn with Alice. That just kind of makes this show even more impressive that she turns out to be the final villain and not Edel. Edel was fantastic but I also enjoyed that Rekka with Kagome's brush defeated Edel. Also the battle between Rei on his horse with the flames vs Loop was fantastic to see. Rekka better not die from crazy Dragon bitch lol. I can't wait for this finale.
|
Oh dear lord, the acting of the dragon knight in episode 11 was down right terrible. We finally get his backstory, which is way too late in the series for me to even care, especially when it seems like this was his end for good. And then the plot twist in episode 12 might have actually been a good twist if I actually gave a shit about Alice. I don't, so the whole betrayal is lost on me. I'm pretty much just watching this series now because it's over this weekend. Thank the gods for that. Also, is it just me or did Alice's armor and make-up look like it was green screened onto her? Good god this character sucks though. "I was made fun of when I was a kid so I became entitled." That bitch slap she received from Rekka was awesome.
|
If they kill Rekka, I'll riot!
|
Episode 12 is pretty crazy, holy crap. Alice played everyone for a fool, including us! I wasn't expecting that.

Holy crap, that finale! I don't even care that it was 100% CGI, that was hands down my favourite fight sequence I've ever seen in Garo. Incredible.
Story was pretty great too, though I wasn't much of a fan how Alice almost immediately regretted her decision and then Dragonkin popped out of nowhere again to be the end villain. Kinda spoiled the ramifications of the previous episode. Poor Rei though, he can't catch a break. All in all I've loved this show, it's the most I've enjoyed a GARO series since Makai Senki. |

Well, over all this was a o.k. series. The writing was horrible and all over the place with no real direction as to where it was heading. It's as if they put a whole bunch of ideals in a hat and each day which ever ideal they pulled, ended up being that week's episode. The Alice character was a waste and didn't need to be in there in the first place. Same goes for The Dragon Knight since they reduced him to a ex machina. This series could have been a lot better than what we were given. But somewhere around episodes 3...4'ish....they dropped the ball and couldn't recover it. And just like a team who's getting blown out. They kept on playing to the final buzzer. :( I'm a Garo fan. I enjoyed the fight scenes both in and out of armor. I enjoyed seeing Rekka make an appearance and I enjoyed seeing the timer back. Those things are what made it o.k. for me. But Zero deserves better then that. |
Well I watched and finale and what a piece of **** that was.
I'm going to cover my thoughts through how I was feeling throughout certain points, so there are some spoilers: - Good god, why does she look like she is all CGI? - Well the fight was lame. - Girl, you got stabbed in the ass, STAY DOWN! Annnnnnnnnnd she's healed. Well that certainly took all of the suspense out of the situation. This makes the whole point of nearly killing her pointless because there's no consequence for it. - YOU JUST DESTROYED THE BEAUTIFUL CASTLE!! - Oooooookay, and the point of the naked women was... - Zero's getting on his inner Animality and looks down right badass. - Okay, this fight is pretty cool. Not the best the franchise has ever had, but still cool nonetheless. - Now THAT is awesome! - Okay, what the hell are you doing back? YOU DIED LAST EPISODE!! Man, the script to this episode must have been so paper thin they didn't have enough material to fill up the entire running time. - Is he seriously crying like a bitch right now? "Oh I'm supposed to be a dragon, how can I die?" Wahwahwahwah. - And thus the Molesting Tree was born. - 13 episodes in and she STILL isn't trying to show any sort of emotion whatsoever. - Oh no, Alice died. So tragic. Can you tell how saddened I am? I think I'm about to cry myself... WITH TEARS OF JOY! - Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd that's it? That's how it ends? o_O - Oh, there's more? Seriously, was the script so paper thin they had to add on this little after credit sequence? - IT'S OVER!!!! Now I can delete this waste of time off my computer. YAY!!! This series needs to just stop. I can not believe that Amemiya actually made this thing. It's like he forgot how he wrote and developed his own characters. Go away before you become the Tomino of the live action world. |
