Watching this episode right now, I so did NOT expect that to be Shou Longbo's voice lmao!

...You know, that's probably a bad example, considering the whole Paradox thing... Like, there's kind of a legitimate argument to be made on that one.
Just saying, there's better examples to use. |

Precisely my point. You just happened to use one of the few times the stopped clock might be right.

Yeah sounds like one subber loves the series a little too much.

Anyways I like this episode. It sets up developments for some future stories concerning Champ and Stinger(hopefully it isn't the only development). Stinger gives off a decent impression as the antisocial jerk and Shou's introduction was also nice though I hope either him or another character becomes more serious later on because as of right now we have a bit too many characters that are leading on the light-hearted side of things. I like that the show is utilizing the fact that Kyuren-oh can swap it's limbs which will hopefully give us some cool mecha scenes. Lucky also still doesn't bother me and I'm honestly perplexed by the negative reaction to him in this episode since he's was more toned downed and serious here. |
I liked it. Again the variety of characters is cool. And Balance is totally fabulous.
Think about it in RPG terms. Lucky is the main character hence protected by the story which is how the narrative is able to progress. You can call it what you want, deus ex or plot armor but this is how it has been in every show. And when you have one serious Sentai Red in the previous series, you generally will see it followed by less serious, maybe borderline dumb one. But if the supporting cast is good enough to balance (like, a certain fabulous Mechanical lifeform) out Lucky's over-positive outlook, then it will all click. He meets a couple of party members who are already in the know and will take some time to get into their backstories. Eventually as the crew assembles, everyone will get fleshed out. Stinger and Champ's backstory is a good way to start some character building for some of the characters and Champ being a goddamn bull-robot intergalactic Pro-Wrestler is one of the best concept I've ever seen in Sentai. And Stinger being a Scorpion/human lifeform thing and how the tail is also present in his Kyuranger form. Can I say I am loving the variety of suit types this show has. From a sheer toku standpoint, I can really appreciate everything from Raptor's design, to Champ's and of course, morally ambiguous C3PO (Balance..cause...he's gold). Can't wait for Raptor's henshin this week. |
Really enjoyed Xiao Longbau just dicking around. And I really like Raptor. She may end up being my favorite.
Enjoyed this episode, anyway. Doesn't feel like Lucky was so over the top this time around. Do agree that Champ should have done more towards the end, but other than that I think it's a decent enough episode. |
