I hate to burst everyone's bubble here but Hasbro's pretty infamous for cheaping out like BOA with Transformers.
So there's no guarantee we'd get better quality zords from them. |
I'm most concerned about the figures. Hasbro does a lot of budget garbage, and I'm not interested in Rangers with 5 points of articulation. Everyone assumes PR would get black series/legends style figures, but Hasbro could very well see how poorly the legacy line is doing and not want to get into that.
|
maybe we will get decent Zords. like i hope they dont continue the zord builder stuff.

They could also do like they're doing with the Transformers TV show lines and just making things more simplified and not good.
But Legacy MMPR villain figures? I'd still be down for that |

Just because TFs 5 years ago were better than TFs today doesn't change that current day TFs are still far better toys than what BOA was putting out. |
And this comes only a few days after I made a post saying that I didn't think a move from Bandai was ever gonna happen :lol Well I have to say I'm more than happy to eat crow on this - I genuinely thought this really would never happen but I'm more than happy to be wrong.
However the move turns out, change is what this franchise has sorely needed for a long time now. Despite some of the criticisms levied towards Transformers these days, those toys are still far more appealing to me than anything Bandai have put out in recent years and if Hasbro can handle a Power Rangers collectors line the way they do with Star Wars or Marvel then I think it's going to be in good hands. All I have to hope now is that distribution isn't terrible over here like it is for Transformers :lol |

But imagine all the villain characters we might get. |
Honestly, for as cheap as Hasbro can be at times, their quality far exceeds that of BOA. I can't speak for the Transformers line, but as a Marvel Legends collector, they've been producing some pretty good stuff lately. And even their Star Wars figures are seeing a noticeable increase in quality.
And with Hasbro not shying away from C and even D-listers in their Legends line or obscure background characters in their Star Wars line, it's definitely possible they won't just keep milking MMPR over and over again. They also do a far better job of getting their female characters to sell. I'd say Hasbro is definitely a step up from BOA, as long as they put as much effort into marketing their PR line as they do Transformers, Marvel Legends and Star Wars. |
I'm wondering if we're about to see Combiner Wars compatible Zords.
|
What if Hasbro make a partnership with Bandai ?
|
I wouldn't know about Transformers, but I have a couple of the SW Black Series figures and I have to say they're no better overall than the Legacy figures. Attention to detail might be better, but they're less articulated/harder to pose and have a few paint issues.
Might as well be optimistic, though. |
Maybe the mechas designs could change if Saban move to Hasbro.
|
Do you think Hasbro will continue the Legacy line or restart with their own 'Legacy' line and go back to scratch. I'm ok with starting again from MMPR if they actually keep it chronological and give equal distribution so a COMPLETE collection of Power Weapons and a COMPLETE lineup of helmets rather than just Tommy love with a bit of Jason thrown in here and there.

It's not a rumor anymore. Hasbro will be receiving the master toy license starting next year.

Wow! I'd assume Mattel would have made a run for the license and Hasbro would have avoided it as competing product to Transformers. Guess I would have lost money on the bet.

Also hoping Hasbro ditches the whole Zord Builder concept and just works to bring toys that are comparable to the BoJ product. My guess is that they'll be less shy about breaking the $35 Megazord rule and may go $45-50 with better quality. |

edit never mind

Hello all, long time lurker, first time posting.
I honestly think that if Hasbro were to make a 6" scale figure collection, they should do it similarly to the Legacy as in mixing the Ranger and the teams they come from, but make the wave give us a solid BAF like Goldar, Lord Zedd... basically MMPR villains to stay on the safe. I think what hurt the legacy line was not only the mix of figures, but also the fact that they are also breaking up the BAFs. This give some collectors no incentive to buy PRIS Yellow if they don't care about PRIS to begin with. But, if she came with let's say Goldar's torso, well you have to get her now if you really want that Goldar. Also the pay off of buy a wave a of figures and having another figure to put together. I don't mind being patient, but it kind of sucks wondering if it's going to be 5 or 6 months before you finally get that leg you need to complete Mega Zord A, while still having Megazord B and C not completed. Also the inclusion of weapons, which I don't think that will be a problem for Hasbro, alternate hands, and maybe an alternate civilian head, I don't think collectors would have a problem buying MMPR figures again, but I personally would like to see a line attempt to make every ranger in the same style and scale. |
My problems with Hasbro's corporate nature aside, I can see this diluting the Power Ranger toy image even more. I may only be speaking for myself, but what got me to love Power Rangers toy wise was that it wasn't like anything else out. I am not just talking about the Zords either. The auto-morphin figures were awesome. The "plastic chogokin" figures were unlike anything I had ever played with, my Red Battle Borg is still one of favorite toys. Let's not forget the roleplay toys which is weird they aren't a more prominent aspect of other toylines.
That said Hasbro will probably treat action figure collectors decently, no doubt getting to more fan demanded and obscure characters quicker than Bandai. But I hope they keep a firm eye on their kids line, because first and foremost I want kids to love Power Rangers. |
A lot of people seem to think that the switch is going to mean the end of the legacy line, but I have a feeling Hasbro is going pick up right where Bandai left off.
Hasbro is not dumb. aside from all of the kid toys they will inevitably produce, I have a feeling they've been watching Bandai America fumble with the legacy 6.5in figures from afar. The 6.5 in figures would be right up their ally. Several series of the same body more or less with different paint applications, new boots, gloves and helmets and accessories. This is essentially what they do with Marvel Legends and Star Wars and they know for a fact they can do it better and get it out to more people. Not to mention look how they've been stepping up their role playing items for Marvel legends... Yeah Power Rangers is in good hands and while the legacy line may change... it's not going anywhere. My fingers are crossed for Marvel legends styled Power Ranger figures( with appropriate sculpts accessories and good build a figures), articulated transformable megazords from more seasons than just MMPR and most importantly better distribution across the whole line. |
Let's hope they make their female Rangers better and please Shartimus by adding double elbow joints. :lol
On a serious note, yeah. Please make your female Rangers as articulated as the male Rangers, even though most of them will have terrible leg articulation thanks to the stupid skirts they add to their suits. :rolleyes |
Also I could be wrong, but has any one noticed in the Power Ranges hasbro press image that way, way in the back you can see images of Super Sentai teams. I could be wrong, but I feel like I can spot the Pink and Green rangers from GoRanger, the White Swan Ranger from Jetman, the Clover King Green Ranger from JAKQ and the Red Ranger from Fiveman among others.
Man would I love to see a Marvel Legends styled figure line that actually goes deep into the Super Sentai eras. |
Since it’s Bandai America that lost the license, I hope Hasbro just takes Bandai Japan’s Sentai Toys and Bring em to the states without the hefty import tag.

"The first set of products from Hasbro will be available in spring 2019. Both Hasbro and Saban Brands are dedicated to continue growing this iconic brand. In recognition of this investment, during a period of time after Hasbro becomes the master toy licensee, the arrangement between the parties provides Saban Brands and Hasbro with the opportunity to initiate Hasbro’s purchase of the Power Rangers property."
I'm sorry, what. Am I reading this right? |

Just think about this for a second: Bandai of America supposedly worked with Bandai of Japan to create a toy line that could sustain them for a long period of time, which resulted in Kyuranger. Now Bandai of America is out, and they're not even gonna be able to benefit from that partnership so all of that time spent amounted to nothing.
Talk about irony xD |
Well shut my mouth, I did not think the rumor was true!
|
Well, how interesting~
I am rather excited to see where this goes, then~ |
looking forward to it.
|
Huh, no that Hasbro is partnered with Saban I wonder if the show will eventually move to the Hub? I know Nick and Saban just renewed their contract, but after that’s up, it could happen
|
Oh wow. ok.... Don't get me worry hasbro makes Some good toys. But some are Not Grate. Going to need to see what the toys look like by hasbro be for i get happy or sad about this. hmmmmm????????
|
Well looks like Hasbro will become 100% of my non-import toy purchases.
