Rethinking about that. A lot of Build does seem like references to "Eyes of Mars." Quote:

Or a later follow up special because of how well the show has done. Quote:
Might have to fix that in a Zi-O episode... Quote:
But likely I'd go with the dopplegangers get the memories and any major physical alterations from those still alive, while the ones deceased get faint memory traces. So Sento will either merge too and keep his current face. Or won't merge at all and his dopplegangers will still exist in the same world. We don't know how Stalk's face transformation works fully either. If it's only surface or if it's full DNA change. Full DNA change would mean his merge doppleganger is who matches his face, not who he was. And then there's the quantum question of how different he is from his alternates too. He may not have an exact match that forces a merge because of those alterations done to him by Stalk. I'm guessing it's full DNA though, or that would have come up already previously during the attempts to catch the real murderer. Or maybe it did and I already forgot. Depends on how they fully approach it. |
*Sees everyone having an elaborate discussion about the nature of alternate realities merging into one and the effect that would have on the cast's mortality rate*
https://i.imgur.com/DJjRgEe.jpg I don't have any clue how that aspect of the plot is going to play out myself, but what I will say is that, simply based on how HARD this episode wants to rub in that this is it for ol' Kazumin, I think there's a very solid chance he won't actually be coming back. Although my feelings here might be colored by the fact that I don't really want to see him back. I know this is a bit rich coming from someone who loves Ryuki and Ghost, but something about the gritty war drama aspect of Build makes the idea of bringing back characters who were unambiguously killed a lot less palatable than in a show like Ex-Aid. Like, if merging worlds is an excuse to bring Grease back, does that mean all his buddies would be back with him? Is Gentoku's dad gonna be running the country? Is Sento not actually going to have to bother making peace with his role in all this tragedy? Happy endings are great and all, but I'm not sure one that extreme would make for a more satisfying story in this case. Mind you, I could be eating my words here in two weeks. Build's been a great show, and if they can convince me having friggin' Utsumi be a Rider was a good idea, they can probably pull whatever ending they've got planned off. |
On a (darkly) comedic note, I just realised you can technically make a Ghost/Robot build form.
Moving on from that, this is, honestly, a pretty perfect episode. It made me care about Utsumi, of all people. I literally forgot he was a rider the other day until I saw he had a SODO coming out. Kazumi got such a perfect send-off, I'll almost be happy if he stays dead. That final scene, with nothing but the sound of the wind. It's so simple, but it worked, damn it. Farewell, Greasy Boy. You won't be forgotten. |

That's why it's more likely they'll be back. The deeper the loss, the more triumphant or relief causing the return. Gentoku's dad may be alive, but he won't be ruling or maybe even in politics. He might be a mabo curry chef. Or anything between from in politics to a school janitor. Alternate reality doesn't mean they'll all have the same occupations they did. Grease's friends may still be alive in the alt world too. May even all be friends, but aren't in the military. Some things will be similar like sometimes a genius character is still a genius in a different reality, but sometimes even that is questionable. Think of it like "Sliders". An evacuation to an alternate world would be dopplegangers living alongside their alternate selves. If the worlds merge though, the 'quantum signatures of occupying space' might merge. It can go either way. The problem with world's merging though is that it should carry the bad guy over too. But again, depends on how they do it. But for a happy ending, I can see them easily having everyone that died back alive as their dopplegangers with little to no memory of their other selves, ending on some kind of nod of similarities but differences leaving the audience wondering. Multiverse theory does mean alternate versions of everyone may or may not exist depending on where or why the world exists as slightly different from the choices made on that world that weren't made on theirs. Like Stalk and his daughter could both exist over there as a happy family that runs a café. Speaking of her, I have a feeling she'll be one of those that won't merge because of the alterations to her from Pandora's box. Her, Stalk, and Sento stand out the most in that regard, maybe Banjou too. Though Banjou's lost love may exist over there and could either already be married to his alternate self, or has never met the alternate. "Sliders" and how that parallel world theory works is the best way to think about it. But do keep in mind, that's traveling to an alternate world, not merging two worlds. So there will be some differences. |
Quote:
And then you have Sento and Banjou, broken from months of war, everyone they know having changed or forgotten them, able to remembed all the death and destruction, with nowhere to go. No-one to turn to, but each other, as they wonder the Earth, fighting, because even in this new Earth, someone still needs to fight. Not for honour, not for glory, but for Love and Peace. |

It's kind of a Blade style ending if they do go that way. Sacrifice for the sake of others. But they might work in some kind of twist there or two. Sad endings and happy endings are sometimes both. And that's what they fought for. The safety and happiness of others. That's assuming they go for the "Eyes of Mars" and "Gall Force" type ending where we see parallel versions of characters living happy safe lives, to then the reveal of those that didn't merge, watching over them, and making sure that happiness is never ruined or threatened. Possibly even randomly bumping into them, or getting a cup of coffee at the café, causing a feeling of deja vu in the alternates, but it fades as Sento leaves with tip on the table. The mysterious Kamen Riders of this brave new world. Not of this world but sworn to protect it. Almost makes me want to see a follow up where one of the doppelgangers sees them transform and have the entire story told from their perspective. Could you imagine that kind of bombshell being dropped on a normal person? Especially Sento's garage band alternate version? |

interesting some of the references made to KRider Blade, and the preview for next week showed Rogue with his helmet all smashed apart like Blades was.
So ep47,... https://i.imgur.com/HCS8IYo.png https://i.imgur.com/nuj6zAM.gif That pretty much sums it up. ...I hate watching Misora cry. I know it's just a show and "acting"...but still,..seeing her cry punches me in the feels. |
A world without the Skywall:
Kazumin and the Three Crows remain farmers, living happily unaware of a Mii-tan Beardo singing in the karaoke with his best friend Tarou Sato continuing in a band Takumi and his father working together as scientists Mii-Tan living happily with her father. Its damn bittersweet. |
I will say, if they do bring back Grease and Rogue(if he dies next week) with the whole plan to combine the alternate worlds, at the very least I bought the deaths unlike last year where Poppy and Parad's "death" were covered in a ton of red flags.

https://i.imgur.com/Vpd66Rl.jpg And to think I actually hated her character back when the show started. |
yup, that conversation she had with "dad" early in the show (I'm sure you know the one I mean, when she realizes he's a bad guy but they dance around the issue and pretend things are ok.)
the conversation with Sento where he's all, "btw I need you to kill me" and now watching Grease die. Emotional Miitan is a gut-punch. |

I never liked otoya until the very end of the series and the same with wataru, but I do enjoy Grease. They tease his death way too many time, so it's time for him to go. Also, Misora is pretty good actress. I thought she was another akiho or the girl from kiva that acts very annoying as comedy relief, but she's actually a pretty decent heroine except her Martian goddess persona is dropped off in most important part of the series. You expect her to play a heavier role and I hate that the villain back story is cast over so simply and insignificant. Evolt's human actor felt like he didnt get as big as a role since the voice actor overshadows him ever since his id is expose. Instead, rogue actually get a 360 turn in character development. I wouldn't mind they used the w fusion form that was used in the movie to fight Evolt for a bit as movie promotion since they stall so much of the series for the movie and maybe the ending is change to satisfy zio. |
By the way, isn't Mad Rogue our first Rider Cyborg in like... a long time? Maybe even since Black RX? I know we had some in movies, Rider 3 for example, but in the main shows? Cyborgs are kinda rare these days, huh?

Not even a basic prosthetic type, like Riderman outside of his Decade cameo. Might be something to look into for the 50th. |
Yeah, I noted it as well. Mad Rogue is the first cyborg Rider since the Showa era. The closest we got before him was Chase, who's an android.
And yeah, Misora's actress needs a damn Oscar. The emotional moments are damn good on their own, but the water works for me don't start until she reacts to it. |
Man, Zi-O is going to have some BIG shoes to fill after Build.

Is Sengoku Ryoma in Movie Wars Full Throttle counted as a cyborg? Or was he an android?
|
Android, I think, same as Chase, especially since we see Macha-Baron (made the same way) shut down at the end.

Hell, Build even has a lot more twitter followers than Ex-Aid did (and like 4 times as much as Ghost ever managed) which while of course is nothing at all concrete, does show some level of engagement above the average. The only area in which Build is really suffering is TV ratings, which have been on a downwards trend for a long while. |

I'm guessing that's why I wasn't contributing to the toy sales for Ex-Aid. |

I got the Gaia memories because hey oversized thumbdrives! I got the Bottles because they're pretty small, storage is an issue for me. |

Build getting an after series special later is more likely than you think. Depending on how the show wraps up the story when it ends if there is any room for an after series special later. |

I initially thought the video game motif would be really dumb, but the story is one of my favorites ever. The villians are especially great. |
