It's absolutely jaw-dropping that Hasbro basically blew all of BoA's attempts at pleasing older collectors while keeping it marketable to all ages away in a single reveal.
Realistic proportions. Modern articulation without cut corners. Worthwhile accessories. This is what the Legacy line wish it could have been. |

My only worry is whether or not Hasbro will play fair and give the female rangers the double-jointed elbow treatment.
|
This is everything I hoped Hasbro would do and I am not disappointed.
This blows anything Bandai has done out of the water, even Figuarts. |

No clue on Beetleborgs though. I am wondering on what the licensing mess of TMNT Next Mutation might be too. |

I just love that Hasbro even mentions real world proportions. Also liked that they showed off the white ranger first instead of green. That to me makes it seem like they know we are getting a bit tired with green.
Now please do Koragg please! Oh and Lothar! I want my evil luchador space ninja. |
Fuck YES. This is what the Legacy figures should've looked like.
With these and the War for Cybertron stuff, Hasbro might be getting a lot of my money next year. |

Bandai lost PR due to their own stubbornness and gross incompetence. The fact that Hasbro was able to knock it out of the park on their first swing shows how horribly mismanaged the brand has been under them. |
I'll admit that the new White Ranger looks good, but I feel underserved!
I wanted something big and real and different, and a new MMPR White Ranger isn't the answer to those desires! Maybe I was expecting too much, and maybe there are definitely some advantages to this line that I am not seeing, but I was expecting to be "WOWED!!!" beyond belief! Not feeling it by enough! |

We've yet to see the Beast Morphers line, and any other lines, let alone full wave lineups for Lightning, and more. Plus we haven't seen whatever they plan for the Zords yet either. So the wow is coming, but it may take some time. It is still an acquisition that's less than a half a year old. |
If I had to make a couple nitpicks on the new lightning collection it’s that the neck on the White Ranger Suit looks a little too skinny and I wish the suit was a little less baggy. If the suit was slightly more form fitting I think it woukd really pop, but as it stands, this may be the best Power Rangers line to date.
Bandai America really flopped on what should have been one of the easiest action figure lines to produce. Other than newly sculpted gloves, hands, feet, helmets and weapons, for the most part you get to reuse the same body over and over again. This is a toy company’s dream to have a figure line that allows for so many cost saving measures per figure while still being true to source material, it’s no wonder that they are able to splurge with phot-realistic headsculpts and awesome paint applications. The only question now is if sales will allow Hasbro to go through every ranger team. I could care less about the villains as long as I had every team of rangers that fit in together on the shelf. That was another fail on behalf of Bandai America. Who needs Psycho Rangers with weapons when you still need to complete other ranger teams like Ninja Storm and Space and maybe squeeze out one other team while you’re at it like Turbo or Alien Rangers so you at least have all of the Zordon-era teams. Fingers crossed this is just the tip of the iceberg and we get a full on Marvel Legends treatment with these. P.S. I hope that we get Lighting Collection versions of Ninjor, the Blue Centurion and the Magna Defender along with a few other iconic ranger helpers down the line. |
Looking at the Bandai America website and boy does it feel hollow. The only thing that feels like flagship material is Dragon Ball. Ninja Steel is still there but ehh... and since when did Tamagotchi make a comeback? Is there some tamagotchi resurgence that I am not aware of?

It looks too realist.

I’m really curious about what the rest of the wave is

$20 for a non-muscular, show-accurate 6" White Ranger? Sign me up!

All I ask for out of this line is a Lord Zedd figure :lol

Thundercats was also an issue because it was solidly only the 80s, and was coming off of the back of a show people were either pissed was cancelled or had already written off the property because of the new show. It also had no 'presence' or marketing. Lightning won't have those issues. |
Also Mattel is Mattel and Hasbro is Hasbro
|
Looks like they are off to a good start. I'm mostly a robot guy for my toys, but if we get a good Lord Zedd... Can't wait to see if we get transformable Zords with articulation next!

I will say I like that they don't have that weird muscular build Bandai fell in love back with PRiS. Also I don't know understand why they brought it back, none of Jungle Fury or RPM era "Legacy" figures had them. Maybe it was a request from Saban.
I am probably in the minority here, but these pictures have me disappointed. The sculpt looks great, it's the joints that concern me. It looks like it is a similar buck to that of Marvel Legends, and it's those joints (especially the elbows & knees) that ruin the toys for me. Like I said thought I know most people like the current Legends and Black Series lines. So I am happy people are getting something they wanted. That said if they make a Ranger Slayer I would probably pick one up. |

Which tbh, between that, and some other random releases like the Mystic Force dragons, and Ninja Storm figures, and Operation Overdrive monster figures, as well as the dinocharge monsters were some of their best work. There were a few Ninja Steel monsters I wish they had made too. Like that variant of the Cat one that was from Overdrive. |
I'm gonna hazard a guess and say that we likely won't see Zeo, Dino Thunder or Psycho in the first wave or two -- those were this year's figures, so it's likely Hasbro would want different series in their opening for a bit more diversity. In Space, SPD and Samurai anyone?

Jungle Fury figures under this lineup would be awesome.

HyperForce Figures in this line please.

New Solar Ranger, Ranger Slayer, Lord Drakkon, MMPR 1969 OR "Gender-Swapped" MMPR from "Go, Go, Power Rangers" upcoming issues, MMPR "Green Ranger Mode", etc.! Also need some DX "Black Dragon" and DX HyperForce Megazord! |

VR Troopers has the best possibility, as it was released on disc/Netflix and has modern Metal Heroes footage and interaction with Sentai to justify! Beetleborgs also has disc/Netflix support, but not much in the way of modern Metal Heroes/Sentai support! In addition with VR Troopers, fans have to want to see more of them, and their respective shows don't always age well enough to garner much beyond the nostalgia crowd! Masked Rider has not been released, and given that Amazon has the Amazon Riders, I don't see a lot of hope here anytime soon! The ONLY WAY that Amazon MIGHT allow Riders for BOOM! and Hasbro is if an entirely new deal were worked on in which Hasbro could use Showa Riders in conjunction with P.R. material (as Masked Rider is adapted primarily from Black RX and because "A Friend in Need" is the only Masked Rider material that has officially been re-released), while Amazon continues to work with Heisei Riders and streams the Amazons and MAYBE a re-release of Dragon Knight in an attempt to garner renewed interest! On top of this, Wizard and Drive have appeared on TV-Japan, which is supposedly available via DirecTV! Mystic Knights have not been re-released and aren't mentioned much, leaving them in the '90s until otherwise stated! At present: VR Troopers and Showa Riders are the better bet, and one with slim prospects at best! |
I'm so excited for a Lightning Collection Goldar and Rita! Might buy the MMPR team too. I got the Figuarts set years ago, but I'd love to have a team that I can pose and play around with without fear of breaking something. So much potential for this line.
|
I'd love for a Jungle Fury set, especially if they include Rio and Mele (Derping on their English names :lol)
That, Wild Force, and Time Force might be good series to do early on, so as to not crowd on what Bandai did with their legacy line. |
