I'm really surprised by how much I liked the second episode. The plot is still pretty basic, but I'm really liking the character interactions. It does suck a little that Kagura hasn't gotten to really do anything yet, though. I need my "watashi wa tsugoi!" damn it.
|
This is like a taisen did right small scale wise. Rumor zyu/mmpr references next week.
|
Does anyone have a dailymotion link that I can watch tonight ep that I miss.
|
The actress that plays Rita looks a lot better in other pics. They are hiding the goodies on this show.
|
okay we all knew that the plot was going to culminate with a zyuranger reference, i'm glad they went with dai-satan instead of someone like goldar, definitely adds some gravitas
|
It's getting pretty good. I always forget how fun ToQger's theme is.
I want to say I'm interested in the Ryusoulger portions, but it's just them walking around some underground tunnels...They're not really doing anything or uncovering some secrets... Tying things to Dai-Satan is a pretty nice touch. It's a cool callback and a nice Zyuranger reference. Aside: Why were no Zyurangers chosen for any of the teams? |

though obviously she wouldn't want to invite the zyurangers, and why any other dinosaurs teams too? she probably hates dinos |

This series continues to delight
Now i REALLY want a lightning collection Dekamaster |
It took three episodes, but Kagura finally did something! Saikyo Girl, indeed.
|
i need a full version of the theme song
|
I get what they were going for, but the imagery of Kagura wrestling with a shirtless Doggie was really awkward!

Also, for the life of me I can’t remember what the song that plays as they explain their plan to attract Gaisorg is called. I know it’s from Toqger, and I know it played during the first time they combined into Cho Cho Toq-Daioh, but I can’t remember the name. Can anyone help me out here? |

I find it strange that they gave ToQ #5 and DekaMaster such a focused battle, but it's also strangely gratifying in a way too! I now feel slightly more validated in the idea that ToQger should be adapted for P.R. in the future, at least in some capacity. P.S.: That Ryu-Soul that Green and Black couldn't make work and abandoned means something, doesn't it? |
I am wondering if some extra footage is being filmed for some future Power Ranger usage. I mean Dai-Satan/Lokar is a bit random for the final boss, unless there are more plans to follow up on this storyline. Honestly while I am liking the series: the Doggie and Kagura fight was super fun. I would love to know more about the production itself.

The enemy tying into Zyuranger is likely just connected to the next season being a dinosaur series. |

That is what I mean when I want to learn more about the production. This is just such a fascinating break with normal patterns it just transfixes me. Honestly this is a reason why I keep coming back to Sentai and tokusatsu in general. Ever since learning where Power Ranger footage came from I wanted to know more about all of it. |
I'm just wondering, what do they do to a previous season or other seasons mecha, because it's weird that they're fighting Dai-Satan without any. Does Sakamoto not like mecha battles?

Another fun episode. The action, once again, was stellar. The choreography and camerawork in the ToQ 5 and Dekamaster fight was excellent. And it's fun to think Kagura might be the strongest ranger in Sentai history. The other battles were great too, like Stinger's out-of-suit fight and Gokai Red and Zyuoh Eagle vs Gaisorg. Really happy that Doggie ended up playing a pretty big role since he's one of my favourite characters.
Rita has shown her true colours and it looks like her identity has to do with Zyuranger. They're bringing back Dai-Satan and his new form looks intense. I'm pretty excited to see the next episode with all the super forms and hopefully they surprise us with some mecha as well. The Ryusoulger parts continue to intrigue. Red Master being there makes things interesting. |

I am 99.9% sure that Rita's name is indeed a reference to Power Rangers, especially given that they are seemingly tying her plot to Zyuranger.
Maybe she's Bandora's daughter or something and inherited her magical powers from her mother that way or something, but yeah, once you notice the complete absence of dino Sentai and the fact that she wants to erase justice from the world and summon Great Satan... yeah, I would be surprised if she isn't related to Bandora. |
I do wonder if the barrier stopping giant robots would prevent Hououmaru. Though granted one mecha component without a full robot still wouldn't be great
|
I really like ToQger theme when it's used like this ! I was expecting Toq5 to pull out her auto-persuasive power at one point, the way they choose to insert it was good.
Ah why isn't this a full lentgh series of super sentai cinematic universe ? (because all the toys have already been sold) |

I've been surprised by how much I've been enjoying this show so much I ended up watching a raw before subs were available for the most recent episode. It suddenly hit me: this is a Sentai show that's not trying to sell toys.* They're just able to focus on the story.
Although I loathed Takaharu in Ninninger, I'm actually enjoying him as just-another-team-member. I'm kinda surprised. * - In the main storyline. Obviously, they are in the dull Ryusoulger sidebars. |
Yeah, Takaharu kind of benefits from less focus. Also actually being a team player kind of makes him a bit more normal compared to Marvelous trying to be edgy again and Stinger kind of wanting to be a cool loner but not committing to it.
The amber / incomplete Ryusoul was like, barely, less obvious than the Zi-O .5 in which they literally said 'this is a campaign item'. |
So i saw people talking about why Doggie was shirtless in those scenes with Kagura. If I remember correctly, when he transforms into DekaMaster, his SPD uniform explodes/disintegrates before the DekaMetal forms around him to create his suit and when the transformation cancels, his SPD uniform returns and is back on him. So it wasn't particularly weird (i can see how it is though) or furry fan-service, it's respecting a minor part of Dekaranger continuity.
|
I'm sure most are aware of that by now, but that doesn't make it look any less weird/funny. Like if he was clothed, the effect of the scene would be exactly the same, but I'm glad they did it this way anyway in order to emphasise that he was putting his all into manly-wrestling with ToQ5.
|
So here’s something I just remembered: why is Kagura an adult again? I thought ToQger ended with them all becoming kids again. Shouldn’t she be like eight years old?
|

Eh, it works alright because 'adult' Kagura actually isn't that old. Zyuoh did go the opposite direction by showing them still has kids but whatever. I think adult Kagura was only 16 when they filmed ToQ and it's been about four years since ToQ. If you really want to go into it, Stinger comes from a different dimension so maybe this could be 2025 Kagura.
|
The final episode was cool, I like Marvelous and Luka's interaction. Ryusoulger's debut was pretty cool too, even though it's only Ryusoul Black and Ryusoul Green. But what about the other dino sentai? They just missing without any explanation.
|
I guess marvelous might be dating luka for a decade like dekapinkxgreen. Must be awkward since there are rumors they dated in real life before. Anyway, I'm disappointed no zyuranger references for rita besides her staff and there's no everyone summoning a piece of their cgi mecha. Vfx expensive for just one episode. The mini series did the character interaction and call back pretty well, so credits to researchers. Kishiryu sentai was so forced in. The soccer ball think was such a cheesy 70s thing, which is iconic, but too silly and easy how they defeat the mindless destroyer. If they decided to make another space special like kyu vs gokai 10th anniversary for next year, rita could be a thing with stinger.

Man, I forgot how great Luka is. She wasn't in this a lot, but she stole every scene she appeared in.
The whole finale was really good. I was pretty iffy about this show at the start, but I'll be damned if it didn't end up being a lot of fun. I got a huge kick out of the final attack against Ultimate Great Santa. It took me a moment to realize what was going to happen, but once I realized what that Akared key was for it put a huge, dumb smile on my face. If I had any real complaint it would be how the new guys showed up out of nowhere to take down the sub-boss without breaking a sweat, but at least the show had enough self-awareness to lampshade the moment a little. I'm not particularly excited about the new show, but I'll stick around for a few weeks at least to give it a shot. If nothing else, the weapons aren't nearly as loud and obnoxious as Kyoryuger's very, very similar versions. |
While the story was nothing to write home about, the overall feeling I got from watching this four part special was pure glee. There were a lot of callbacks and references that just made me happy to see as a long-time fan. Tons of fanservice too.
I like how Stinger got his big scene in with him relating to Rita's backstory, though the use of his insert song from Episode of Stinger was a little heavy-handed. This kinda leaves Takaharu without a big moment but at least everyone else got great representation. Luka got a sizeable role and had a great out-of-suit fight, as did the rest of the main cast. Bummer that Rita ended up having an inconsequential relation to Dai-Satan and Zyuranger history, but the reference was fun regardless. Loved the final battle against Dai-Satan with all the Rangers turning into their super modes, but the transition between the CG flying scene to the slow-motion practical explosions was a little jarring. Gorenger finisher was awesome. The Ryusoul Black and Green debut fight against Gaisorg was phenomenal. Fantastic choreography, high-energy, and the use of the opening theme was hype asf. I also like that it gives the early-bird cameo spotlight to non-red Rangers, and I have a feeling the two will be fan-favourites when Ryusoul finally debuts next week. Overall, a strong finale that left me smiling. |
