Ohhhh! I'm so happy, I was afraid we were never going to see the fabled Fiveman release! Hopefully this means any rights issues are now taken care of.

I'm not completely convinced that the Rights to additional Sentai are confirmed by this news! I feel as though SHOUT! already had the rights to sub Fiveman, but lacked distribution rights from the current license holder of Sentai in the West: Hasbro!

I feel as though this only refers to Fiveman and Kuuga given how both are depicted together, which offers a subtle hint that Kuuga may get a DVD release given the nature of the photo for both in the tweet.

Don't assume Gorenger, Gokaiger, or Turboranger are coming just yet! It's possible, but there's no evidence for it.

Hasbro was distributing Sentai since Hurricanger's DVD.

Fiveman's dvd has a copyright notice which does NOT mention Hasbro, meaning this was gotten directly from Toei

Pre-order link is now live. Unfortunately, TokuSHOUTsu just announced that Fiveman will be only released on DVD. Doesn't seem like they got the streaming rights for this one.

I already assume that Fiveman won't be available to watch through streaming until sometime later next year.

Well, TokuSHOUTsu has been liking tweets that are saying stuff to that effect, so you are likely correct.

Also worth mentioning is that according to the official press release, this was made possible through a collaboration with eOne (Hasbro's parent company).

From what August Ragone (works for the film industry) that the PR bought out from Hasbro is why it took so long for Fiveman to get release. PR is co-liscence, so the other side has to say yes to it as well.

This is the same thing as, if you want to get the HD remasters of Toei's Spiderman and The Ultraman anime, you need to get approval from Marvel and Sunrise.

It mentions eOne, though, and Hasbro owns eOne.

Subs and CC subs being separate would be the most ideal I'm sure, but I'd rather have CC subs if I had to choose only one type.

I'd agree there. I definitely prefer looking at non-CC but I prefer that more people have accessibility to these shows.

... also, if we're speaking in real terms, non-CC subs exist for these shows already; so I'd call these sets using CC a net win :p

Oh no I hope I don’t come off as ungrateful or complaining about CC it just weird that they couldn’t included it as an option and that none of Shout Factory release for any other Sentai or Rider has had this happened. I’m glad it there honestly but I just wish for the ability to choose that all.

Strange choice to not include 2 tracks, but I'm fine with the CC style subs personally.

Of course, close captioned subs aren't ideal, but I'm not complaining, these subs are still probably the best for Fiveman. (not trying to say that XIG's subs are bad, just that they're weaker compared to Shout's subs)

Five Man starts for me on January 4th. I saw one on You Tube and it looked good. I'll watch this anyways so I don't skip any.

I did see one unexpected curve ball in this - Teachers becoming Rangers.
That was new. Tommy worked at Reefside High and he became Brachio
Ranger so this will be the second time for me to see teachers become Rangers.
