God please let this lead to the rest of the heisei era getting subs.
|
And as of 7:00 PM EST, TokuShoutsu have uploaded Kamen Rider Kuuga onto Tubi as well:
MAJOR WARNING: The Shout Factory subs included translations for the Gurongi dialog. Apparently the physical DVDs of Kuuga originally gave you the option to toggle the Gurongi subs on or off, but on the Tubi and PlutoTV versions, the Gurongi subs are permanently there. The subbed Gurongi dialog was apparently supposed to be easter eggs for viewers on their second watch through, and MAY spoil developments or certain plot points for first time viewers. https://tubitv.com/series/300005115/...uga?start=true |

I just posted about this in the "what are you watching" thread, but it's even more relevant here, and I've seen more since then, so let me just reiterate that these subtitles of Kuuga are what fans have deserved for years, and every single glaring mistake made in MCS's old subs I've gone to check has been fixed perfectly. To prove my point, this thread gets to see a comparison of one of the really nasty monologues, where the all too frequent bad fansub error of mixing up 別れる and 分かる resulted in the dialogue going off in a wildly different direction.

Damn, sucks that you don't get the option to turn the Grongi subs on and off, but good to know that the official subs are really good quality! Gonna make my future rewatch all the better.

I've heard the dispute over Grongi language subs for years now and watching the show so far I think this a non-issue. They are basically saying the same stuff any enemy from a Kamen Rider show would say. |

Good lord. Everyone is basically treating the Grongi subs like they spoil the plot from episode one. It's the same monster speak from any other season. "Kill humans, play games, get stronger." |

I watch only 5 episodes of kuuga where's the rest of the episodes?

The DVD's and the reruns with the subtitles were aimed at people who had already seen Kuuga. It was a bonus to get them excited about checking out the massively popular and successful show they'd already seen once again. The Grongi are speaking a foreign language. That's how the series was written. You wanna talk the perspective of new fans getting into the franchise? Imagine someone not even realizing the Grongi weren't speaking Japanese until well into the show, and tell me this isn't an issue at least worth debating. I don't personally care that much if someone wants to watch the show that way first myself. At the end of the day it's their choice. But acting like it makes no difference at all is just a gross oversimplification. |

You can find them right here. Shout doesn't have a category directly on their site but when you search Kuuga the episodes all turn up. |
It has a show page:

This board rarely hosts more than a dozen members a day. |
Yeah, but you're still making the claim that "everyone" is acting a certain way, when clearly that's not the case. I'm sorry if you've had to deal with alot of people acting like what you claim in other circles, I'm sure it's very annoying, but please keep the complaints aimed at those circles specifically, rather than lumping everyone who expresses even the slightest disappointment into one whole. That's all I'm saying.

VRV, a streaming service from Time Warner that includes a lot of the things they have some ownership over like Crunchyroll, Rooster Teeth, and Boomerang has Kamen Rider, Kuuga, and Jetman through Ohranger now too on their VRV Select channel. I think you need a premium sub for it though. No idea why they don't have the rest of Shout's Sentai series though. They do seem to have several of Shout's offerings in general, though not as much as TubiTV as far as I have seen.

SHOUT! has released an "update" regarding their Sentai releases. They have nothing specific to mention (as of yet), but all indications are that there are no new Sentai in their immediate future.
Kamen Rider is probably more viable at the moment. The general consensus is that while Fiveman may have been planned at one point, the circumstances changed when Hasbro became the license holder to Power Rangers, and by default, the one who can sign-off on a release of Super Sentai in the West. http://ukiyaseed.weebly.com/ukiyasee...release-status |

TokuShoutsu is asking for fans to submit videos of themselves for their upcoming episode of "Let's Talk Toku!" Details in the linked post. I'm definitely gonna get in on it, and I hope you guys do too! |
