The more something is connected to the West thanks to a previous adaptation, the less likely it will be made available through this. Older Sentai are the most likely candidates! I'll also add that exactly what Hasbro or SHOUT! would do with B-Fighter or even Beetleborgs, if anything, is unclear. |
I just did the first two episodes of Gavan and the first episode of Sharivan without issue!
A few odd translation choices: Gavan's "Jouchaku" is done as "Metamorphosis" and Sharivan's ship is "Grand Verse". Tried B-Fighter and B-Fighter Kabuto, but to no avail. It said something was wrong, but I am using a Roku app so it could just be a kitschy way of saying "region-locked"! |

On my X-box YT app they have Metalder, B-Fighter, Kabuto, Goranger, JAKQ, BattleFever-J, Dengiman, Sunvulcan, Dynaman, and Goggle V but they are region locked so they won't play. On web browser they don't even show up. I tried searching around with my vpn on my pc, but none appear anywhere i switched to. |
I just got done watching the two episodes of Maho Shoujo Chuka na Ipanema up on youtube and I really enjoyed it. I've actually already seen the show before, I noticed that Toei uploaded a few episodes of the show to their youtube channel once upon a time and decided to check it out on a whim, but it was nice to be able to watch it with english subs this time.

Got chance to watch some selected episodes (well, the one with subtitles already in place). It looks like several selected shows on Toei's global toku YT channel may appeal to young children. If you have any 7-8 year old kids and with a very good or above average reading level (or if they love reading book by themselves), then I think they may find the show appealing despite it's old school look (I have an 8 year old niece who watched Zyuranger after I introduced it to her). I might update this thread to include several children toku shows from Toei's YT channel.

Found an article which includes a list from August Ragone, which details the shows that the channel will region-block due to who holds the licenses at this time.
http://ukiyaseed.weebly.com/ukiyasee...ed-some-issues Evidently, and of particular note, Hasbro does retain the license to Metal Heroes which were previously used in V. R. Troopers and Big Bad Beetleborgs, indicating that THOSE RIGHTS were apart of the purchase of Power Rangers (and the adaptation rights to Super Sentai in general) from Saban! Others, like Juspion and Message from Space, are also under license and therefore not available. By definition, any Sentai released to the channel will not be available. If Spielvan and Shaider are released to the channel, they too will likely be blocked. This list did NOT make note of Kamen Rider Black RX, which was released as "Masked Rider" by Saban years ago, but which has not been given an official re-release, probably due to lack of interest and the fact that most think that the adaptation was garbage! However, it is entirely possible that the mere fact that RX was adapted could leave it region-locked if it were ever uploaded to the channel! A similar situation could also arise with Ryuki (Dragon Knight). However, since SHOUT! apparently has the rights to the OG Kamen Rider, it's possible that this is a moot point altogether and that most Rider entries will either not be released to the channel or will receive a Western release through different means. Pure speculation on my end, of course. |
Sorry but it does genuinely make me really angry when US copyright law affects places like Europe.

Well if it's region-locked, you'll just continue to watch toku the usual way (with the Internet's magic). Let's give Toei thumbs up when it's deserved. I wonder how and if the community will submit subs for everything, because I don't care if it take years I'll watch everything.

I spent the majority of my Sunday watching many of these shows. Truly wonderful stuff here!
|
I hope this does well for more official subs from Toei. I would hate to see this burn out so quickly.
|
Yeah I am pleased about the thing overall. I haven't really gone deep into it yet but it still looks pretty good anyway.

So, I've been scrolling through this channel occasionally to find the things I would never seek out myself. Yes, there's Jiraya, Gavan, Akumaizer 3, Kyodain - but that stuff I already know about, and while watching it is fun, there's a thrill in discovering something I have never, ever heard about before.
I found it and I kinda fell in love with it. It’s "Magical Girl Chukana Ipanema". So, I've never watched a live-action Magical Girl-show before. I would assume it is much like its anime counterpart only, well, live-action. Tuning into this I found it’s more like a sitcom really, with a strong emphasis on comedy, and boy does this show pull that off. I actually laughed out loud at this stuff; I will post a selection of my favorite scenes in picture form below. So, what’s the show about? Basically, there's an alternate dimension filled with magic, wizards and witches, all of which go to school to learn about spells and stuff. The heroine Ipanema is set to graduate, but on her ceremony she is denied that honor because... her parents have gone bankrupt, fled the magic realm and didn’t pay for her school fees. Ipanema is forced to work off that dept by the vile headmistress of the school, until she escapes to the human world to look for her parents. She comes alongside a family of a single dad and his three sons, one of which holds a pendant given to graduates of the magic school. Ipanema seeks it out and trouble arises as the headmistress chases after her. That's the basic plot, at least what I could make out from the 2 episodes available. As it turns out, this show is a sorta-sequel to another, "Magical Girl Chukana Paipai", which only ran for half a season before the lead actress dropped out. So instead of just canceling the show they ended it abruptly, started a new one and introduced a new lead character. Which connects to the other one as the first witch also lived with the same family apparently and the pendant the little boy has was hers. Gotta say though, I went into this expecting absolutely nothing and got 2 episodes of harmless, pure fun out of it. I would watch more if I could. https://i.imgur.com/0MFpqor.jpg https://i.imgur.com/0Yr1Oyx.jpg |

And well, it’s also really fun. It kinda sorta sucks starting to watch a show that you know will be left unfinished, but comedy shows like this rarely have a plot worth exploring anyways. So having watched a bit of Ipanema before Paipai I assumed it would follow a very similar story, turns out it does but the setup is different. Paipai isn’t a member of the witch school in fact the school isn’t mentioned at all. Instead Paipai is a fully fledged witch who turned down a marriage proposal from the ruler of the magic world and fled to Earth after her love interest has been turned into, well, a bowl of ramen. That's cruel, I know. But after heading to Earth she does bump into the same family I already know and becomes their nanny. This show is still absolutely hilarious to watch. I personally prefer Ipanema to Paipai as a character because Ipanema is a witch in training and not that good at magic which leads to a bit more hilarity. But since they will continue airing Paipai I will watch that now. Hopefully they continue with Ipanema after. Anyways, I laughed out loud at this so I want you guys to see it: https://i.imgur.com/NMP6uDs.jpg https://i.imgur.com/HHybDMK.jpg |
Should Toei have a facebook page as well ?
|
Want to see the Heisei Kamen Rider openings without credits? Toei has you covered on their YT page.

... you know this is just gonna give me and others more power when creating music videos. Because we have access to some of the cool visuals of the OP's without credits all over.
I say some because these are obviously only like the first versions of them so they are lacking the later cool visuals that get added. |
Oh shoot I forgot this thread existed. Nice catch!
|
Not only do they lack the credits, they're also some of the higher quality versions we can get. Really surprised they essentially took a page out of the fandom and made an official compilation.
|
It's free views for assets they already have, I'm surprised it took them this long!
