This may be an unpopular opinion, but I kind of think the Zyuranger suits are really really ugly. Instead of coming up with an actual design, like most seasons, they just threw a bunch of white diamonds onto the suits. What do diamonds have to do with dinosaurs?

They don't really look like dinosaur teeth to me... If you told me the Gingaman suits were supposed to look like that, then I might believe it, but not Zyuranger. It just looks like a tacky pattern.

The actual Zyuranger suits likely obfuscate the intent, but it's more obvious on Daizyujin's chest! Interconnected diamonds and jagged shapes which form a more obvious teeth pattern.

One could argue that diamonds have a regal connotation, and most of the Zyuranger team are princes, a princess, or just a knight for a tribal kingdom.

I updated my Ranger library last night ordering up to Ryu and Lu Pat which I'll order after Friday.

I'm sort of curious to see the shows after Go Busters forward.

Due to COVID 19 it's impossible to get to the library to stream these shows so I bought the sets from another company. They are collector's items mostly to fill in the Ranger set.

That said it will likely take me 2024 to finish this run on DVD.

To Q looked really good having streamed the first one. Also Nin was looking solid having started it on stream.

Just getting back into Sentai. Tried a bunch of different ones before but gave up on all of them before the first arc ever finished.

But what somehow nabbed my attention was Kiramager. I freaking LOVE everything about it. They don't hold back with making it fun. I love how the mecha have personalities, how awkward & campy the cast can be & even the villain is interesting. I never cared about Sentai villains before, but Garza has my attention.

Despite Kiramager being tropy like most Ssntai I feel like they use tropes very well. So glad I can say I like a Sentai now.

I used to call Toqger "Sentai Sentai Sentaiger" for how very archetypal it was of Sentai and how it just got the franchise, and I think I'd apply the same now to Kiramager. Both are just really, really fun series that don't back away from being too silly but also know just the right amount of drama and intrigue to sprinkle in. So I have to agree, I'm having a great time with it!

Also I think they obviously need to not be a ranger. Like Gekiranger/Jungle Fury for instance: Violet/White are Extra Rangers while Black & Green are Extra Heroes.

I just follow Sentai's convention. Core, sixth, additional rangers, and extra heroes.
A good example is Magiranger/Mystic Force. The core 5, gold ranger for sixth, White is an additional ranger, and Wolzard/Koragg is an extra hero.

Started Magi a few days ago and have only streamed 9 of them. Also Aba (Outburst) Ranger of which streamed 12.

Magi is pretty decent.

I think it also tends to be a factor for me whether or not they are actually a human or whatever that transforms into their suit, I mean characters that are just a suit with no actual actor have always put me off with Stag Buster and Shurikenger being an exception!

If I may, Magi Shine is a tsuika/additional, Magi Mother and Wolzard Fire are bangai/extra.

This is only a few steps away from being as bad as 'secondary rider' debates.

See I feel Secondary Rider debates have a legit place in conversation because of how often the creators play with that formula. For Sentai it really shouldn't be a big deal since it's all about "Who eventually joins later". And that categorization shouldn't be hindered by how many Rangers there are before & after their arrival.

Ex: Jungle Fury/Gekiranger. Even though the team as a whole ends on only 5 main Rangers Rhino/GekiChopper & Wolf/GekiViolet should count as Extra Rangers along the likes of Ninja Storm Green/Shurikenger, Quantum Ranger/TimeFire, etc. Just because the later two are literally #6 on their roster doesn't mean we should categorize them differently. They all served the same purpose in the end.

So I think any Ranger not originally on the team from the start should always be counted as an "Extra Ranger" & not have designations based on the actual numbers of the team.

Well I’ve been watching Go-Busters’ Christmas episode and I know there’s a “What are you watching thread” for this sort of thing, but I feel like venting my thoughts and feelings somewhere they’re more likely to be read.

So the climactic showdown with Messiah - it did nothing for me. It’s just a retread of the same climactic battle we had 14 episodes ago. And the show’s been doing a lot better since we got rid of Messiah, so I don’t think bringing him back was all that necessary, since the Busters already got closure on their parents.

Ene-tan returning was a nice touch - or it would’ve been if they hadn’t just reused the fight footage from the movie. And it really stands out since that fight is clearly at day, while the rest of the battle is at dusk.

Messiah Reboot: It’s a nice suit, but I have to wonder who’s idea was to make it dark red against a night backdrop. Kind of makes it hard to see. Not to mention making it huge compared to Go-Buster King - I actually dig that choice, since Go-Buster King is the largest of the Tokumei Gattais, which sells how imposing this thing is.

I guess the thing with the orphanage lady was meant to be heartfelt, but that subplot got so little focus that it just seems like an odd big lipped alligator moment. It’s telling I got more emotional investment out of this actress when she was BoukenBlue’s cat, Asumu’s partner in crime at Dekaranger and Koguma Skyblue’s ghost mother.

Also they didn’t really answer one thing from the last episode: how was Hiromu able to use the Lio Blaster while Jin was piloting Tategami Li-Oh?

I'm not sure what brought this on, but I randomly felt the urge to listen to some Ryusoulger music for the first time in a while today, and can't believe I forgot what an absolute jam Tagire! Ryusoulger is.

Does it bother anybody else that Kiramei Green's thighs get significantly thinner when she gets into her suit?

Not sure if this is the proper place to post, but considering that next year is 45th anniversary and Gokaiger's 10th anniversary, and with Yui Koike properly returning to showbiz, we might get a Gokaiger 10 Years After or something. The hard part I guess, is getting everyone available abd ironically Mao Ichimichi might be the hardest because she has such a busy schedule, she did film her scenes in Super Sentai Strongest Battle in just one day because of her schedule.

How is Kiramager for everyone so far? Yay? Nay? In between?

I’m in between. My good will to Juru has pretty much worn down after a lot of thinking about it. And the Go Kiramager Power-up is basically bringing back everything I hate to see in a Sentai Power-up.

Simple fun on a weekly basis, so yay.

I'm actually liking it quite a lot more than LuPat and Ryusoul whereas they were just inbetween for me and I was especially glad to get back to another female green and a male yellow! I still don't like the design of the Crystalians though and the villains didn't seem too engaging initially.

Currently resuming Gokai Ranger from #23 and have started Zyu Oh Ranger.
The cube thing takes a bit of getting used to.

Sorry, I just have to say because Akagi Nobuo brought it up in Akibaranger: it's not ''Gokai Ranger'', since Hurricanger you can abbreviate it to ''ger'' if you want! :lol

Hey weird question, but is there a list of when a skirt was or wasn't used on a female sentai suit?

Specifically, when there is no skirt and there are 2 or more female members.

I believe it's just Goranger, Dekaranger and some other earlier sentai which used 'tights' patterns instead?

There’s Flashman.

Bioman, Changeman, Flashman, Fiveman, and Dekaranger are the only ones to do so. If we drop the 2 or more female members criteria and include teams with just one female ranger, Gorenger started it followed by Battle Fever J, Goggle V, and Dynaman.

I’m surprised how dark Dairanger can get. Especially in comparison to Zyuranger.

Previously I streamed Geki - Gosei online. The only outstanding Wild Card at present leaves Kyo which was adapted as Dino Charge. After this I hope to soon start up 1975 - Jet Man.

Nearly finished on Gokai at #44 of 51.

So, I watched the finale of Timeranger yesterday (not the end, I’ve still yet to watch that clip show). Man, what a finale.

I generally don’t like to compare Super Sentai and Power Rangers when forming opinions (the exceptions I have is with Go-Onger/RPM and Kyoryuger/Dino Charge) but I like that they actually showed the logical conclusion to the Timerangers changing history was their own erasure and the birth of a new future, compared to how Time Force just decided “nope, everything’s back on track”. I don’t like Kobayashi’s writing at the best of times, but I can’t say this didn’t hit my feels. Especially with how Gien ended up by the end.

If it wasn’t for the aforementioned clip show, I’d be ending the series on a pretty dour note. And I’d be okay with that, surprisingly.
