Personally speaking, I'm willng to give him another chance. I'm not exactly a Ghost fan, but there are still things I really liked, and I've seen enough bad writers go oto do a good script that I have faith he can do the same. Especially if he doesn't have these mysterious production difficulties that everyone always mentions but no-one can ever give specifics.

I LOVE the Legend Rider items this time around. Also, Legend Rider Naki!!!

Didn't something happen behind Ghost's production, with Fukuda being unable to write as well numerous times because he had other obligations? The episodes he wrote were solid on and Specter Sin was pretty good too.

Definitely gonna give him another chance. Plus, he's joined by Shibasaki who did Surprise Future.

If there's one thing I've learned from experiencing this side of the overall fandom, it's never write off a series based on design or staff.

Good writers have done bad stories. Bad writers have done good stories. A writer's most notable work does not always define them or lock their writing into a specific outcome.

Same with designs. Simple, streamlined designs don't always equal a great series (Such as Wizard) and more-involved or complex designs don't always equal a poor series (Such as Ex-Aid). Tokusatsu requires the wait and see approach. Not vibing with the theme or designs is totally up to personal taste, but writing the series off as bad or expecting it to be bad based just on staff and rider designs is another thing.

Let's not forget, for all the hate he gets Inoue wrote Jetman and Agito. And for all the hate he gets with Drive, Sanjo wrote Kamen Rider W. So yeah, give him a chance and if toy sales suck and the show sucks overall THEN we give him the good ol' metaphorical All Rider Kick next end of summer.

I do also wanna bring up that there were like three writers on Ghost; and Fukuda mostly worked on the first half -- the part that's generally regarded as the best portion of Ghost, as well as the summer movie and Sin Specter.

Oh, right, and he was the secondary writer on a little thing called Ultraman Max!

Ghost's Summer movie also felt like an idea that was meant for the main series but never happened so was put into the film instead. Was a really good idea and premise with a better ultimatum for Takeru compared to Ghost's actual endgame.

As stated, never judge a series by its staff list.

Not bashingly hated but disappointing perhaps? At least for me Drive was in general disappointing because it felt like a rehash of Kamen Rider W here and there. I still liked certain parts and the ending was decent thankfully, but the overall experience felt lackluster because of said disappointment.

Ehh, then I say we give him a chance. But they better do this in one of the episodes.

Basically Ren already to me is a mixbag of Sour Grapes Micchy from Gaim and Kusaka from Faiz. :lolol

First I'm hearing of anyone being disappointed with Drive.

At most I hear people say how bad the first few episodes...When really they're not, they're just par for course for the start of a new series.

I think Drive initially suffered from "Previous Season" syndrome where it had to follow up Gaim where, regardless of individual opinions of that show, when it came out it was a huge fan-favorite series. In comparison to Gaim's uniquely dark, character-driven narrative, Drive took on the more standard, light-hearted, episodic format of your standard Rider season, which gave it a run-of-the-mill feel early-on.


By the 20s, it really started gaining its identity and became a really, really good season. The villains became more fleshed out, our core cast was expanded upon and we started to see the direction the show was headed in.

Soooooo Kamen Rider Saber first impressions, yay or nay?

He was not the secondary writer on Max. He did two episodes.

I was really hoping we would get a female team member rider.

I say Sophia has a shot at becoming a rider in the vein of Natsumi or Tsukuyomi.

So far, Saber looks neat and I'm interested in seeing how it handles its book/stories motif.
But oh boy, do I not look forward to all the Ghost talk and Ghost comparisons that's going to pop up over the next year. Like I'm already seeing some of that here and I'm just immediately rolling my eyes.

The prominent eyes on Saber's dragon and Blades' lion are really making me suspect that the dragon and lion will be actual characters to some extent, and do a little more than just show up for the occasional finisher.

Between Ghost and his episodes of Max, I feel safe in predicting that there will be at least one over-the-top comic relief character.

Yeah I can see why people are worried about it. Anytime they try and do a more mystical approach to a Rider it doesn't quiiiite pan out (lest we forget Wizard wasn't super...) And the gimmick items being books is fun and different, but I'm wondering if kids will go for it?

Either way, suits seem pretty cool! Blades makes so much more sense than Blaze, so already I'm happier haha. So do we have 6 riders and 5 names, or am I misreading it?

Looks like it'll be an interesting season.

Rintaro has potential I think especially now that we know there is a chance Touma will probably use his vulnerability towards sweets to somehow make him do some goofy stuff possibly. :lolol

More than Sentai actually, this is reminding a lot of Ryukendo or Justirisers. Everything I've seen and heard so far has just given me the vibes not of Kamen Rider but just more of a general tokusatsu that's inspired by the likes of Rider. It's for that reason that I'm feeling more uncertain or neutral on all these promotions than straight-up excited, but I'd love for this show to sweep me off my feet all the same.

I can kind of see Kamen Rider Saber as Toei's first real attempt at an Isekai style Kamen Rider.

I mean, sure we had the Mirror World, Helheim Forest, and the video games of Ex-Aid, but this is an entirely separate fantastical world. As far as I know, the Isekai genre is still crazy popular.

Huh, it all sounds very interesting. Hard to predict exactly how the series will turn out. I haven't watched Ghost yet, and I know a lot of people dislike it, but I've heard it has a really strong beginning, and that there are definitely people who feel its character writing was really good. I think there's a good chance this series will turn out alright

Yeah I don't know. Maybe it's because who's writing it but I see too many similarities to Ghost. Collecting MacGuffins to grant a wish/grant power, protagonist and secondary Rider are childhood friends with issues, different world - I'm reserving proper judgment until the show is out but the trailer really didn’t help.

The only thing I generally liked was the secondary Rider on an ATV of sorts - has Rider done this before? I find this unique and cool. I'll enjoy seeing it twice and then never again.

You know, I'm surprised that no one's really commenting on the fact that we're getting a Kamen Rider Blades when we got Kamen Rider Blade already. : P

But honestly? Yea, I'm looking forward to this a lot. Loving the aesthetic and designs of all the Riders (Calibur is especially cool, and I can't wait to see more of Espada and the Rider above Blades in the poster), and the cast seems like a good set of people. And Fukuda isn't a bad writer, considering that the parts of Ghost that he DID write are some of the strongest parts of Ghost, besides Alain's arc (which I don't think he directly wrote).

And let's be fair, all writers have had their high and low points. Sanjo's high point was W, his low point (to a lot of people at least, not me) was Kyoryuger. Kobayashi's high point(s) were Den-O and OOOs, her low point (at the time it was released) was Ryuki. Even Inoue's got some good high points with Agito, Faiz, and Jetman, with his low point being Kiva and Hibiki (and Hibiki was basically thrust upon him).
