Huh. Huh. This is definitely a different angle for Sentai. But it's cool?! I'm into it!
The blue guy looks like Armada Optimus Prime. |

Wow, I love it. I'm glad that Toei is open to experimenting with the formula. Hopefully it feels as fresh as (or even more fresh than) Lupinranger vs Patoranger.
|
Ohhh man that looks amazing. I hope the series can deliver, might be my last Sentai (hopefully not).
So the 6th Ranger will most likely based on 6th mecha, question is which one? The most likely will be Dragon Caesar, but they aoready had a Zyuranger representative. Still, genius idea to have them be based on Sentai mecha. |
This looks absolutely AMAZING. I cannot wait. I love mechanics and robotics and Metal Heroes, which I'm sensing some references here.
The concept is a good one, since we already got a anniversary season that focused on the characters and teams, highlighting arguably one of the most prominent aspects t of sentai is brilliant. My only fear is that it might be too toy-focused, but with the collectible looking like those little Gears, it looks pretty tasteful - if a little too close to OOOs medals and Ultraman Z coins. |
If this suit cannot bring back Sentai SHFs then I don’t know what will.

Holy hell this is so different I love it.

My one fear is that what makes grounded Sentai fights fun is how unrestricted the simple spandex costumes are; allowing them to flip and jump and run all over the place and exhibit a LOT of body language. A lot of that is used for humour and we've especially seen just how far they can take it in Ryusoulger and Kiramager. The mech fights however... lose that because the mechs are very blocky and bulky and heavy; there's very little manoeuvrability and there's a lot of slow, inelegant moves. It's part of why I don't like the mech parts of Sentai, but it is restricted to those sections and it does make sense to a degree for giant fights.
... bbbut now we've got those blocky heavy costumes in the grounded fights, too. And especially when we do have Zenkaiser over there who is a much more standard Sentai suit (feels weird to call him that but, you know), it's not only going to be a lot of awkward fights; it's going to be an awkward contrast between Zenkaiser impressively flipping everywhere with a lot of co-ordinated choreography while the other Zenkaigers stumble about and flail their box arms. I don't wanna be negative on this because otherwise I'm all in; I LOVE everything here and I hope Sentai keeps doing out-there stuff like this, but I am a bit fearful for the action scenes is all I'm saying. Maybe they'll pull a Hurricaneger and give them a slimmed down mode? |
I'm wondering if the robots will have human forms like the Zyumans had or if they will be purely suit costumes like half the Kyurangers were. If the former it would be cool if they brought back the actors from the four seasons the suits are based on.

I am so F****ing down for this
the whole team looks amazing, here's me praying that the show is good, last time I was burned with nininger, got sucked into how cool everything looked |

The fact that ZenKaiser is human with his team consisting of robots is on-point with his Big One-inspired colors since JAKQ was also a human leader with 4 cyborg members.
His pose being Akaranger's pose, the clear mech inspirations, this is gonna be a fun season visually, at least. |

This is fucking beautiful. I can't wait!

Love how each of them represents various points of Super Sentai history:
- White: GoRanger and JAKQ, the two Ishinomori-penned series that started it all; - Red: Zyuranger, the first series to be adapted into Power Rangers, which in turn helped introducing the brand to worldwide audience; - Yellow: Gaoranger, commemorating the brand's 25th anniversary, also the first mecha / zord heavy series; - Blue: Boukenger, the 30th anniversary series, 'nuff said, and; - Pink: Magiranger, the first series to see the rangers turn into their own mecha / zord (this might sound like a stretch, but i can't come up with any other reasons as to way it was chosen, lol) Either way, pumped up for this. Hope the show manages to keep me invested in the story and characters, as Kiramager's doing right now (and the last three series before it failed to do :x) |
Zyuranger was very important for Sentai; it was the first season to really be a fantasy (and I believe the first to have a living mecha?) and was very popular in its own right, so it's not just about what its footage was used for. A lot of this is about anniversaries, yeah!
|
I was expecting that the suits would looks to those used by the Metal Heroes.
Also, isn't the team missing a ranger? the green one, if we go by the colors in Zenkaiser's suit |
I've been thinking, if Taguchi, the main director of Ultraman Z who just did a few episodes of Sentai for the first time ever, does next year like the rumors say, this all makes sense. With robot team members, the action might be mostly on the giant scale and with Taguchi at the helm, it's gonna look amazing.

The Zenkaiger suit looks good but I still don’t like the mach helmet just looks off.
I don’t know how I feel about the other 4 will have to see them in show. Also this is another new thing for Sentai having a one human and 4 robots team I hope they have a great writer for this cause it too different from the normal. If they choose a bad writer and this bombs like the last few Sentai shows ... that could be worst for toy sales so we’re have to see who they pick. |
This looks like shit. Total pass.

I'm definitely intrigued. I'm always excited when they try something different. |
I wonder if Covid has played a role at all in this series.
For the robots, anyone can be in the suit. If the lead actor gets sick, film him suited up or its potentially just one filming pause vs potentially 5. I wonder if when this show has its 6th, if it will be a mech or a person. Probably be green considering the stripe. |

So far, the 4 are based on zyuranger, magiranger, boukenger, and gaoranger. The later two make sense because they're the 25th and 30th anniversary season main mecha. Zyu doesn't seem to ring that much for japan audience until mmpr. It is the first mystical over science sentai if i recalled most of the 80s are space techy. Dai and kaku would follow suit. I guess zyu and magi got unique innovation in their mechas. Liveman and jetman were still boxy animal based mecha, but zyu manage to up its game. The same with magiking. I would imagine it'll be very cheap for the show tomfilm if they're hire voice actors and no human actors like kyuranger instead of going zyuohger, which might be easier for covid social distancing rules maybe. |

This feel like if Juru is the lead and the kiramei stones are the kiramagers as well as the main warriors cast. |

the whole thing is a bad idea especially for fans that are not big mecha fans and more human character fans, it feels so one sided that it could really backfire. |
Digging the look of this new age J.A.K.Q. team but for me it all comes down to the writing within the show.
|
This looks so fun. Curious if the robots will have standard Ranger style form in addition to the blocky mecha forms, or if Toei's really shaking up the formula and that's it
|
The first one looks like a masked rider & the other 4 look like zords.

I generally dislike giant robo action in Sentai. About 80% of the time it fully blows. There are some series where it's better than others (Boukenger, Go-Busters), but it's still almost always inferior to the ground combat. My favorite part of Sentai is the ground combat. That's what I crave. There's no way on Earth the ground combat will be good with these suits. Full stop. They're far far far far farrrrrrr too bulky. Will they make up for it by upping the ante on the giant fights? Maybe. We can only hope. That said, from the leaked shoot photos, it does look like they'll have somewhat slimmed down forms as well. https://i.rbrspace.com/33a8be2ed7ec9...778da78bec.jpg https://i.rbrspace.com/38a32b12ffcec...0fe64931b9.jpg |
YIKES! And not in a good way.
|
I am pretty much completely over Sentai at this point, but this looks just different and weird enough that I'm going to check it out.

Interesting. Normally, mecha are designed as toys and then a suit version is made, whereas the Sentai suits are presumably designed mainly as suits, and then toys are later made of them. I assume that's more or less what happened here, but this is a unique Sentai in which it sure looks like the mecha *are* the hero suits for most of the cast. (I guess it also means that most of the cast won't be involved in henshin sequences, unless casting reveals the mecha will have human forms.)
I can't help but notice the hinges on ZenkaiMagine's wings, which makes me wonder about how the toys will work. We know that they each have an alternate form, and from the start, there will be a pair of two-part combinations, but how they'll work isn't immediately apparent to me. In terms of combining them all together (possibly with an additional, as-yet-unrevealed component), it looks like Gaon and Zyuran's feet are roughly identical, so I suspect they become either the arms or, more likely, the legs of a larger combination. Vroom looks a lot like he folds up to become a lower body. <strike>WashiPink</strike>Magine just confuses me; an arm, maybe? Of course, that's all conjecture. I'm guessing the alternate forms are super-simple and basic, and we can kinda get a sense of how they work from the suit kibble. For the two-part combinations, I'm guessing they must connect back-to-back It looks like Zyuran has an asymmetrical shoulder detail, and I can't quite tell whether Gaon has one for the opposite shoulder. I'm guessing the belt hinges forward, so the gears must be pretty small. Also, I'll give the gears this: they're sleeker than just about any collectible we've seen in years. One thing that surprises me a bit is that none of what we've seen of the core team so far references any Sentai post-Boukenger; I was assuming there'd at least be a nod to something from the past ten years. I suspect the sixth hero will end up being Gokaiger-themed, and I think I'd be a little shocked if we didn't have Captain Marvelous return in some capacity, not unlike Decade's appearance in Zi-O. |
I get they're all references to past mecha, but in that same vein, they also all look like bootleg product versions of those mecha :lol
