1st is a mental space, and the 2nd is we know the two are somewhere other than the main setting of where Dynazenon took place because this happens after they leave.

Again, these are cool theories. But again, it was never outright stated.

It could go either way and I'm a fan of both, but I'm still in camp real world for the time being until there's like, actual hard confirmation.

1st is also the representation of the innards of the Kaiju, of which we see plenty, and also establishes the inner workings of the person involved. IE, a digital space. The second is also the same set piece as seen in the first anime. And given how Kaiju are still born via the desires of people within Dynazenon, and both Knight and The Second able to directly connect with everything in the show, it's not any sort of stretch to see it as another digital landscape.

Gridman never outright said it either, but it was obvious from the context. If we're going solely by literal statements, then Gridman would be in a real world setting as well, even though it very much obviously isn't.

I just finished watching the series just a few days ago and now I am super curious in both SSSS. Series, how many references from the live action show are in the anime?

Both shows are sprinkled with callbacks to both Hyper Agent Gridman as well as Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad, as the SSSS.Gridman anime served as a weird sequel/soft reboot hybrid to both shows. So how exactly the anime directly connect to both shows, if at all, is rather ambiguous.

Saying the first pic proves it takes place in a digital plane because of the visuals would kinda be like saying a Sentai series takes place in a world that's not the real world because a member got absorbed/eaten/sucked up by a monster and inside is a white void or some other uncommon plane of existence.

Neither Gridman nor Dynazenon made any of it obvious unless the story wanted it to be like the former's case once they started blatantly sewing seeds for it. Because prior to that everything came off as "a version of the real world with solidified kaiju mysteriously scattered about".

False equivalency. It had already been established in Gridman that the Kaiju are digital beings, just as they were in the original Toku. Whereas in Sentai it's almost also just mysticism. And given that the people of Dynazenon, including those who came from Gridman, can directly interface with the Kaiju, and that the show very much takes place in the same universe as Gridman, it's not any sort of reach to make the connection.

Saying that the visuals don't count towards the storytelling of the setting is to ignore half the point of a visual medium.

So any thoughts on the new Gridman form we see in the trailer?

Given the dialogue and the framing of the last shots. It almost makes me feel like that Gridman is created from Yuta, Utsumi and Rikka Access Flashing together. Like, the three not-color timers in a triangular position, those three getting the focus at the end as Gridman's voice seems directed to them, and just the likely idea that this movie is going to delve on Yuta becoming Gridman again and how that's not exactly a cause for celebration with some people.

Or at least that's my theory.

Just one, we will never get a decent action figure of it.

Given that this all started with a fan-animation featuring Gridman Sigma, and this design looking a lot like Gridman Sigma, it may keep the same beats for the origin.

Gridman Sigma was the human villain of Gridman reformed, so maybe Akane returns and powers up Gridman in the anime?

I do dig the new look. Does seem like they are paying tribute to Sigma.

I thought at first it might be all the Assist Weapons channeled into Gridman.

I wonder if that can do a new fusion with Dynazenon too or if they're saving that for just Gridknight so they can do Kaiser Gridknight again.

The reveal of not one but TWO Mujina figures at WonFes almost makes me want to cry--I had completely given up hope that she would get any figures made (other than that one swimsuit figure).

I started playing Azur Lane because of the Gridman collaboration event last year and I got Mujina (as well as the other hero girls) and love her in it. She's not a great unit but I still use her regardless.

Well, it just took over a year and a half, but Crunchyroll will finally add Gridman Universe on October 24th. They will also release the SSSS.Dynazenon compilation movie on December 12th.
