Oh, judging by "Rekka Zen-Battou", I believe Wonder Almighty is like Dragonic, Primitive, Daisenki etc where it silences the sword and does all the noises itself -- so in other words it would make the exact same sounds with the Haouken as it does with the Rekka. Even saying 'Rekka Zen-Battou'

"I think the real conclusion was the stories we made along the way!" -Touma, probably
This was a fantastic finale! What can I say, Saber's theme carried through, it sold the storybook theme, and brought us to a beautiful ending. Sure, in some cases it's a little cliché, but I also got a bit of Gaim influence with this one. I was really happy that Primitive Dragon got to appear again, and even more so, when the trio used pretty much all of the Wonder Ride Books to fight Storius, in a spectacular fight might I add. I for one, have no objection with Wonder Almighty not having any form associated with it, but in fact, love that it's just Brave Dragon, with some new sound effects. I know it stood out like pterosaur in a chicken coop, but I love how there's a Humagear present during Mei's speech. But before that, there was that really heartwarming scene with everyone talking about their favorite stories after the world got destroyed, which was really nice, and as said before, really brought the theme home. And Almighty playing twice this episode, the Touma in Wonderworld scene, and everyone (even the dead people and victims!) got to make an appearance, were great additions. I'll probably do a follow-up/summary of Saber as a whole, but for now, this was a great finale to what started out as a runaround spectacle. Next Week: I can only see Vice doing that one Beauty and the Beast meme with Gaston holding Belle's book... |
I forgot to mention this, but I really enjoyed how Saber's swordsman motif meant that there were more swordfights than usual instead of the usual punch and gun fights.

I've literally never won a single prize or a contest before in my life, so I was extra shocked that I was chosen too :lol Quote:
And mine was one of the ones selected! ^^ It was so cool to see myself in the show! It's also just extra surreal to think that my face showed up on thousands of tv screens across Japan, and that people will be buying a blu ray of episodes with my face somewhere in them! Ive probabaly never had my face seen by so many people at once as when that episode aired! The scope of all that is so hard for me to really picture, It feels very strange but very cool too! It still has me in a good mood days later too lol |

It's a sort of odd book, it's a non-fiction book about a specific year of a birding (or bird watching) competition that happens every year It has a good deal to say about following your dreams and passions, as well as how people from different walks of life may have an easier or harder time following their dreams than others (an example from the book being how someone wealthy could take a year off work from their huge company they founded without much issue, while a lower level employee at a power plant needed to give up a lot and save for years to even have a chance at their dream) It was the first book I ever read where I wanted to reread it the moment I finished it lol I know the premise may sound a little uninteresting but I'd recommend it, it's very well written and the story is very compelling It also got adapted into a pretty mediocre movie too, I'd recommend that less lol There are books that I probabaly think are funnier, or more exciting, but this is definitely the book that meant the most to me when I was younger, so it felt like the clear choice choice me (Now that I think about it though, does non-fictiom even really count as a story like they wanted? I didn't even consider that lol I guess I'd say it still just counts since it's in book format and because the author is who elevates it to being a real story and not just a list of events) My audio is pretty muffled and overshadowed in the episode but if you listen with headphones you might be able to make out the title of the book if you're listening for it lol |

Definitely sounds like something that would have had a big impact on you growing up... I imagine it might've done the same for me |
screenshot or it didn't happen : P
But seriously, that's real cool. |
For all it's earlier faults, Saber really pulled through in the end and I felt it was worth watching the show compared to Zero One. This in a sense was reverse Zero One, where in Zero One, I thought it's 1st quarter episodes where it's strongest, then sadly the quality dropped, while Saber was like in the same vein as Drive, where it's 1st quarter was pretty weak, but then the rest of the show improved a lot.
It had really stand out moments (Primitive Dragon's backstory, the Rintaro/Neko Megid story on how he feels left behind, Kento's future vision crusade, Ren and Desast and how it concluded, that pre-Final Battle montage) so I feel it stands out more. I'm glad I stuck with Saber, and look forward to Revice (yes, even though Saber has 1 episode left) |

I haven't actually talked about my thoughts on Saber since it came back from hiatus, since Episode 44 put it in a weird direction that kind of made me lose interest a little. Seeing all those likable Swordsmen (and Reika) have climactic fights against those sage guys who only got mentioned once wasn't very compelling to me as a revived and brainwashed Legeiel and Zooous would have been, just as an example. In the Shindais' case, I may have just been watching a fight between Shimi and Trilobite Magia. I also lost interest in Luna, since there was no satisfying explanation given for replacing Okamoto Miku and the character ends up dead anyway, so I think it all seems very superfluous.
But I continued watching nonetheless and in this episode, what is essentially the true finale, I'm reminded why I enjoyed this show to start with. Everything with Touma and Storious in the tower is awesome as they clash in both exciting combat and deep philosophy you'd expect from a pair of writers with powerful imaginations and I think the moral here is something everybody can relate to, whether you read or write stories. Ultimately, it doesn't matter that most of our lives are predetermined. The end of a story is an opportunity for a new story to start, by people carrying the messages of those stories in to the future. Even if only one person learns something important from a story, that validates its entire existence. Even if a pen is someday discarded, it's survived by the stories it writes. When I heard Almighty Dragon was just going to be the Brave Dragon suit, I'll admit, I had my concerns. After all, I have bad memories of RealEyezing Hopper usurping screentime from Zero Two in both the finale and Real Time. However, I don't actually mind the way Almighty Dragon was executed here, for a few reasons. Firstly, Xross Saber has had much better treatment, so it's not a tragedy to see it step aside for the finale (how ironic would it be if Mei became Xross Saber though, it feels like the kind of trolling Toei would do). Secondly, Brave Dragon compliments Lion Senki and Lamp Do Alangina so I think it was good a move letting Blades and Espada participate in the final battle, especially after how they got tossed around by walking plot devices. Lastly, Almighty Dragon is more than just Brave+. If Xross Saber is the master of all Seiken Swords, then Almighty is the master of all Wonder Ride Books. This is both symbolic and appropriate, since the final battle is between two writers and what better way to show the power of stories than to beat up Storious with the power of all those stories? If Toei insists on making this a tradition or something, I hope future seasons take inspiration from this for how to do it right. Even after the final battle is over, Storious is all like, "whatever", since the apocalypse happens independently of their entire conflict, just as the Omniscient Tome promised. In a show that teaches the value of promises, you better expect that the apocalypse is punctual. Fortunately, the apocalypse is also temporary, cause thanks to Mei being one of the most important and heroic characters in the show, everybody's stories are able to make it to Touma, who uses them to create Wonder World 2.0. and restore the world. It's just like he told Tassel, he doesn't have to make a sadistic choice, he can just walk both roads. He had a greater destiny than just the one Luna gave him. This paragraph is subjective, but this is where I think Hasegawa looked at the endings of Kyoryuger and Gaim and decided he could do them better. Touma becomes a godlike being? Check. Goes on vacation for a year? Check. And everything else is just better. It's unoriginal and derivative, but that's also extremely appropriate considering the moral of this show. He totally deserves to have that award named after him. It's very clever how it has the same kanji as Hasegawa Keiichi, but with his given name reversed to become Ikkei! He's basically the head writer at this point, since Fukuda delegates so much to others. That's not an insult to Fukuda though, it's a good quality to know your own limits and not to write more than you can handle. That's the mistake Takahashi made with EX-Aid. As Kamen Rider Saber's story reaches its conclusion, the post-finale will turn the first page of a new story called Kamen Rider Revice! Saber is definitely still my favorite Reiwa Rider show, but with currently only two entries, it's very early in the era. So now I'm looking forward to see if Revice has the potential to surpass Saber. Quote:

Is it just me, or does it feel like the show was trying to combine two different endings into one?
While I am a bit optimistic on the ending (especially think its nice with how the world is restored thanks to people expressing their love for stories via ACTUAL VIDEOs that Toei apparently asked for, I think,), the fact that the Wonder Almighty RideBook comes from the combination of Luna and the six Seikens BEFORE the 'Traitor swordsman' arc really gives off the impression that THAT was the intended ending, at least until whatever force wanted more swordsmen into the mix. No seriously, a RideBook that features lines from the first six swordsmen and Touma's original friend, a focus on the Wonder RideBooks and their usage (if underused, one of the more wasted potentials ever), the emphasis on friendship, Storius being the final boss, a heavier emphasis on stories and authors, and the lack of focus on the Haouken Xross Saber (which does have a good reason for not being there, being used to halt the end of the world). It REALLY feels like there was this conflict between the kind of story the writers wanted between those solely focused on the Megid and writing angle and those who wanted a focus on inner Rider conflict and corrupt organizations, which resulted in cut character development and bad moments. This really makes me wonder how the show would have been like if we only had the first six swordsmen plus Mei, the Megid, and a focus on RideBooks while retaining the other collectibles (like the other swords come from deceased swordsmen and are used by the Megid in combat, and the Haouken Xross Saber is created after getting back those swords) |
