I don't think it's because of that. I think it's because of how Nick does seasons for their shows. Look when Samurai started. Back in 2011. They did a slew of episodes, two six months off, did a slew more, took four months off, switched to Super Samurai in early 2012 and did a slew, six months off, then finished the season off at the end of 2012. If they had just done a regular season, like the old days, we'd have seen the end of Samurai in December 2011. Had Goseiger/Megaforce this year. And we'd all be gearing up for Gokaiger come Febuary.
Instead we get this 'shoehorned' (Copyright MatrixBeast) Gosei/Gokai bastard child. If we didn't, and they gave both seasons a full season like they did Samurai/Shinkenger, we'd get Gosei 2013/2014, Gokai 2015/2016, and Go-Busters not until 2017/2018. That's just idiotic. As it is (If it all stays with Nick) we aren't getting GoBusters until 2015/1016.

The sooner Saban pulls the show from Nick the absolute better for his product. Saban owns Vortex now, he needs to use it.

Pretty sure the pirate motif is being skipped over because it's too tough to bring over without keeping the use of "bullets" and such. A majority of the fight scenes include the muskets actually firing, which is hard to incorporate "lasers" like SPD did.

IMO, Gokaiger doesn't also have the sheer amount of Role Playing merch other shows would have, outside of Ranger Keys. You have what, the two morphers, a spear, a sword and a gun? Maybe the Bazooka? It's not exactly something that can be milked for an entire year.

It's also possibly far easier to adapt the form changing gimmick with cards for each ranger, rather than unique Ranger Keys for each one.

If they were willing to film all their own fight scenes, they could replace them with more PC blasters.
Hell, they could probably justify editing lasers over the normal footage. They're not just pirates, they're space pirates.

Worked for SPD. Wasn't always pretty, but it worked just fine.

It's just not going to happen. Not with everything happening in the world right now, not with how gleefully they went about shooting everything in sight. Just not going to happen.

Also, there's been like 2 G1 Megatron reissues, easily available online (Besides, G1 Megatron sucked. Out of all the G1 toys, that one was never a very good one...)
