Records Detective, Tantei Yellow! Science Detective, Tantei Green! Mindset Detective, Tantei Blue! Talking Detective, Tantei Pink! Network Detective, Tantei Orange! Detail Detective, Tantei Violet! Seeking truth and justice! Chosa Sentai, Tanteiger! The name means "Investigation Team Detective-ger," and they're a team of private detectives, each a genius in a different field of investigation (Yellow takes photos and looks at records, Green analyzes samples from the crime scene, Blue figures out how criminals think, Pink interviews suspects and witnesses, Orange listens for rumors and gossip, Violet catches details others don't notice, and Red puts it all together to find the answer), who investigate cases beyond the reach of the police. Usually their cases turn out to involve otherworldly criminals who reveal their true monstrous forms when caught, and the major villains are an otherworld mafia family who hire out their footsoldiers as muscle for other criminals and sell the drug the MotWs use to become giant, among other crimes. Where the gray suits come in is that the season's aesthetics are heavily inspired by film noir with a dash of cyberpunk (which historically also takes a lot of inspiration from noir). The set and costume design for heroes, villains and civilians alike all uses an intentionally limited color palette with mostly grayscale to make the splashes of color pop more, and the rangers' equipment blends advanced tech with a retro feel: Their suits look like business suits with fedora bands for the visors (I'm also gonna cheat a little and say they have colored neckties as well), the power-up gives them trenchcoats, their weapon is a revolver and their mecha are styled like classic cars. Narrations like the "previously" and "next time" segments are done in the style of a noir detective's internal monologue, usually by Red but sometimes by another character. Sometimes the filming even goes fully black-and-white for dramatic effect, with color digitally re-added to the colored parts of the rangers. |

Red, yellow, pink, white and black, with an orange sixth. Topic: music.

‘Till this day we still have no videogame-themed sentai series, unless you count Megaranger due to its background as being fighting game character that “come to life”, so to speak. I was thinking for a seriously videogamed-theme tho. Like a Sentai Ex-Aid. We have red, blue, green, etc. (can’t think of others ngl). Each ranger is based on a game genre, e.g red = fighting games, blue = JRPGs, green = shooting games/FPS.
The main villain group is based on horror games. Then for a twisty ending, in the last episode, it turns out that the entire series events is just a level-builder a la Super Mario Maker or Happy Wheels and a city-builder a la Cities Skyline and SimCity by God. Lol. |

Johin Red on violin! Johin Yellow on trumpet! Johin Pink on flute! Johin White on drums! Johin Black on piano! And featuring Johin Orange on guitar! We proudly present the saviors of song, Senritsu Sentai Johinger! The name means "Melody Team Elegant-ger," five (later six) seemingly ordinary people who one day hear a strange song that nobody around them seems to notice, calling them for help. Following the sound leads them to each other, and to Mirady, a princess from Zymphonis, a magical world powered by the music of its inhabitants' hearts. She fled to Earth when the tyrannical General Deathcord seized power, but now he's set his sights on Earth as well, sending his knights over to steal the music from human hearts. But as fate would have it, a set of five treasures Mirady brought with her in her escape resonate with the hearts of the five who heard her song, giving them the power to become the saviors of song! These colors remind me of an orchestra in a high-class concert hall, so the music motif is specifically classical music, although Orange brings in some rock-n-roll. It heavily influences the soundtrack, although it could mix in a bit of other genres as appropriate, and the team's weapons are themed on their instruments (Red has a violin shield and bow sword, Yellow a trumpet shotgun, Pink a flute rifle, White a drum hammer, Black a piano greatsword, and Orange a guitar axe) while their mecha are humanoid robots with their instruments built-in. The fight scenes are also highly choreographed and graceful, almost like ballet. |

Player Blue! [Princess Quest] Player Green! [Sniper's War] Player Violet! [Galaxy Pilot] Player Orange! [Rockin' Stars] Player Pink! [Mystery Lover] Player White! [High Speed Champ] Games to bring hope to everyone! Tokuten Sentai Playranger! Player Dark! [zOmBiE iNvAsIoN] (black) A game to share my despair with everyone! Tokuten Shitai Player Dark! / Player Black! [Zombie Savior] A game to save myself from despair! Tokuten Shitai Player Black! Player God! [UTOPIA BUILDER] (gold) My game rules everyone and everything! Tokuten Tentei Player God! The name means "Score Team Play-ranger," but cheating a little with the individual ranger names to be Player. Player Dark replaces sentai with "corpse" and Player God replaces it with "god," assuming my translation is correct. Also, in the role call, the [bracketed text] isn't said by the rangers themselves but by their transformation devices. Players Red through Pink are each the all-time greatest player at their respective games, who just so happen to bear striking similarities to those games' main characters. They're recruited by a mysterious old man to fight the iconic villain of Zombie Invasion who's somehow escaped into the real world (although when they face the villain directly, he seems more lonely than evil). Eventually the villain gains the power to become Player Dark, forcing the old man to become Player White to give the team a fighting chance, but even then they're unable to kill Player Dark because as a zombie he'll just keep coming back... Finally, Player Red realizes that Player Dark just wants someone to play with him, and after repeatedly fighting to get through to him (no easy instant friendship here), Red is able to befriend and redeem Dark... only for a high-tech godlike being to descend, reveal that it set this whole thing up to amuse itself, and throw a tantrum because Red was supposed to completely destroy Dark, not be his friend! It transforms into Player God and announces its intent to wipe out the Playrangers and start the game over, but the newly-redeemed Player Black teams up with the heroes in a climactic final boss battle! |
Ooh that’s kewl stuff. I like the concept a lot, about high time Toei considers something like this.

Seconded. I especially like the idea the Evil Senshi who isn't really evil per se. There's a lot of symbolism you could dig out of that character's arc with Red. |

^ It's also very topical, given how many people have experienced loneliness in the past four years.

Ok I was thinking about a more old-school 80s-style sentai with a military and scientific theme (a la Flashman, Bioman, Changeman type shit). Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Pink and perhaps a white robotic sixth ranger and a dark/black evil/rogue rangers.

I might even throw my hat into the ring by pitching a late-90s style Sentai with a cyborg ninja theme, owing more to Metal Gear Rising with the gadgetry gimmick from Kamen Rider Faiz. |

Red Stealth! Blue Stealth! Yellow Stealth! Green Stealth! (past only) Pink Stealth! (past only) Robo Stealth! (white, present only) Angoka Sentai Stealthman! The name means "Encryption Team Stealth-man," and I bet none of you guessed what Stealthman meant XD Fifty years ago, a private detective (Red), two government secret agents (Blue and Green), a ninja clan heir (Yellow) and a reformed phantom thief (Pink) become cybernetically-enhanced ninjas recruited by a mysterious benefactor to fight against the similarly enhanced crime syndicate VIRUS. However, the whole war was thoroughly covered up, leaving most people unaware that the Stealthmen or VIRUS ever even existed. Meanwhile in the present, a reporter gets in over her head and teams up with a vigilante hacker and the ninja clan's last survivor to uncover the secret of what happened to the original Stealthman. And they'll have to hurry, because a mysterious black Stealthman who they call "Dark Stealth" will go to any lengths to keep the truth buried, and VIRUS may not be gone for good... I like to imagine all the sentai we create here being their own era, I've even been thinking about the handoffs from one to the next! So Stealthman airs after Playranger, but at the start the main story is flashbacks to the original team's adventures in the late 80s or early 90s, with the modern characters' investigation as a framing device and a subplot. Over the course of the show, the focus gradually shifts towards the modern characters, until a little over halfway through they salvage the Stealthman's robot helper, become the new Red Stealth, Blue Stealth and Yellow Stealth respectively, and have to fight against Neo-VIRUS! |
Alright, it took me a while but here's red rangers for the first five teams:
https://images-wixmp-ed30a86b8c4ca88...cGqMYqh-NKX_Bc "The passionate maple ninja, Meisai Red!" of the Hayashi Sentai Mesisaiger (Forest Team Camouflage-ger) "Blazing fire, Houou Eagle!" of the Hitori Sentai Hououger (Firebird Team Phoenix-ger) "For revenge, Burai Red!" of the Ronin Sentai Buraiger (Masterless Samurai Team Rogue-ger) "To the limit, Koshi Red!" of the Tomerarenai Sentai Koshiger (Unstoppable Team Photon-ger) "Reinkin Ignis!" of the Kogane Sentai Renkinger (Gold Team Alchemy-ger) Might do more red rangers, full teams or equipment, mmmaybe even mecha (probably not), we'll see where my motivation goes |

Playful dream, Yoru Cat! (blue) Flying dream, Yoru Crow! (black) Water dream, Yoru Frog! (violet) Speedy dream, Yoru Rabbit! (white) Mischievous dream, Yoru Tanuki! (gold) Even if justice is only a dream, believing in it can make it real! Yume Sentai, Yoruger! The name means "Dream Team Night-ger." It starts with a genius but lazy high schooler who aces every test but falls asleep in class, and dreams of a fox-warrior fighting nightmarish monsters. When a monster from his dream appears in real life he instinctively tries to protect his classmates, and his courage manifests a bracelet that he dreamed the fox-warrior wore, which he uses to become Yoru Fox! Over the first handful of episodes, he finds four other students who've also been dreaming about monsters and who manifest their own bracelets when their courage is strong enough: A friendly gyaru gal becomes Yoru Cat, a studious class rep becomes Yoru Crow, a ninja-loving otaku becomes Yoru Frog, and a hotheaded soccer player becomes Yoru Rabbit. Later on, a shy and secretive new transfer student becomes Yoru Tanuki, and after losing and re-finding his courage in the face of his worst nightmare, Fox unlocks his upgraded form Yoru Fox Nine Tails! Unlike a lot of sentai, for much of the story the rangers know precious little about what the monsters are or where they're coming from, and that mystery drives a lot of the overarching plot as they try to find the source of the dream monsters with help from one of the teachers (not sure what subject yet, probably science). Also, the mecha battles take place in some kind of dream world which the monsters retreat to after being defeated in the real world, and if they aren't destroyed there they'll just keep coming back to the real world. |
I was thinking for a slight DOOM-esque Christian theme, basically fighting against Satan and the Demons in a Hell-like Earth. Red, Blue, Yellow (Leader), Green and Black. Yellow can upgrade to become golden. Maybe powerful knights killing off demons.

Righteous fire, Tenshin Red! Blessed wind, Tenshin Blue! Holy light, Tenshin Yellow! / Heavenly light, Tenshin Yellow Archangel! Sacred woods, Tenshin Green! Rising shadow, Tenshin Black! To save the world, we are... Tamashi Sentai Tenshinger! The name means "Soul Team Angel-ger," but Yellow is the only actual angel. In an alternate Earth resembling a dark medieval fantasy, demons rampage across the land, gathering the energy of human suffering to make their king powerful enough to escape his prison in the underworld. Angels don't stop them because the angel council believes they're not supposed to interfere, but one angel decides he has to do something! Cast out from the heavens, he gathers a ragtag team of misfits on Earth and shares his power with them (in the form of toyetic artifacts, naturally) to become the Tamashi Sentai Tenshinger. Tenshin Red is a brave but somewhat cynical knight, his mecha is a wyvern. Tenshin Blue is a nervous but determined priestess, her mecha is a giant eagle. Tenshin Yellow is an idealistic but sometimes naive angel, his mecha is a knight. Tenshin Green is a friendly but eccentric forest hermit, his mecha is a stone troll. Tenshin Black is a snarky demon seeking redemption, her mecha is a hellhound. |
I want to make more designs for these rangers but I'm not sure what to do next. Which of these options would y'all be most eager to see:
1) more red rangers for the teams I haven't gotten to yet 2) full teams for the red rangers I've already done 3) civilian forms for the red rangers I've already done I'm also always open to more color selections ^_^ |
The second option. :thumb:

The passionate maple ninja, Meisai Red! The upbeat cherry ninja, Meisai Pink! The steadfast pine ninja, Meisai Green! The elegant birch ninja, Meisai White! The noble wisteria ninja, Meisai Violet! Hidden guardians of the forest, Hayashi Sentai Meisaiger! The visors are based on their tree leaves, although some came out looking clearer than others, and I included a cherry blossom on Pink because that's too iconic a symbol to leave out. Green was especially tricky because I'd already used a green accent color, so I went with a more lime-ish shade to hopefully make it stand out more. And the kunai they're all holding are just a placeholder for now (making weapons would be a whole other project) but I imagine their weapon/changer being a kunai with a leaf motif, possibly one that normally has a simple blade but unfolds into a leaf shape when the pommel ring is pulled? Similarly, the symbol on their chest is meant to blend a kunai and a leaf. I figured using a kunai for their iconic weapon would help them stand out from the other ninja sentai's swords and shuriken. |
Green as the lead, red, blue, orange, black.
With violet & gold as sixth rangers. |

Thermal power, Eco Red! Water power, Eco Blue! Solar power, Eco Orange! Bio power, Eco Black! Chikara Sentai! Ecoger, let's go!" ("Ecoger, ikou!" for the pun) "Nuclear power, Eco Gold! Clear to go!" "Fossil power, Eco Killer! Going hunting!" Chikara Sentai Ecoger means "Power Team Eco(logical)-ger" and the theme if it wasn't obvious is energy sources: Wind, geothermal, water, solar, biofuel, nuclear and fossil fuels. Protecting the environment is obviously a major message of the story. The villains are the Dead Planet Army Kaosen (phonetic spelling of "chaos" + osen meaning "pollution"), invaders from another world trying to pollute the Earth to make it a more suitable home for their overlord, with monsters themed after various pollutants and other environmental hazards, or just common litter for their footsoldiers. To fight back, the spirit of the Earth herself chose five young adults with great potential - a proud soldier (first Red), a stern rescue pilot (Green), a flirty marine biologist (Blue), a cheerful astronaut cadet (Orange), and a semi-feral forest ranger (Black) - and bestowed them with the powers of clean energy, in the form of ranger suits, weapons and mecha, naturally. Eco Gold is the normal sixth ranger, a brilliant scientist and friend of Orange who learned about the Ecoger's battle and supported them. After studying their powers enough, he developed his own ranger arsenal to fight alongside them. However, his nuclear power is dangerous if he loses control, and Earth refused to recognize him as the sixth Ecoger until he proved he could handle the responsibility. His aesthetic is more technological than the others. Eco Killer is an evil ranger, the first Red after betraying the rest of the team when Kaosen promises him wealth and status in their polluted world. This is not a spoiler, the promise would be revealed to the audience in the second episode, though he'd keep up the ruse of working with the team for a while and even become their leader. In the battle where he reveals his betrayal, a fire breaks out and a hotshot firefighter rushes to the scene and manages to seize the thermal powers from him. She becomes the second Eco Red, and Eco Green steps into the role of leader. This leaves the first Red de-powered for a time, until the Kaosen overlord personally grants him new power as Eco Killer. His aesthetic has a dinosaur bone motif and his shade of purple evokes oil. My first thought for their mecha was vehicles powered by clean energy but now I'm thinking they could be more like elementals, changing into their giant forms similar to Magiranger. Green as a wind bird, Red as a magma golem, Blue as a water serpent, Orange as a sunlight wisp, Black as a tree ent, and Killer as an undead T-rex! Gold is the only one with a traditional mecha, a nuclear submarine. The five core members combine to form Eco Gaia, while Gold's submarine and Killer's T-rex both turn into robos on their own. |
And yes, I realize I've just made the sentai version of Captain Planet
